Incentives Control Our Lives

The lack of employees across America is both obvious and striking.  There are lots of jobs to go around but not enough people willing to do them.  Tate Reeves, Governor of Mississippi, realized this and did something about it.  The positive change has been nothing short of remarkable:

The cause of this was simple: Federal unemployment expansions and bonuses were paying people more money to stay at home than they could make working. The solution to these woes plaguing our state was also simple. Governor Tate Reeves saw the need for swift action and, in June, Mississippi became one of the first states nationwide to opt out of these expansions and bonuses months before they were set to expire.

Immediately following Gov. Reeves announcement, work search activities spiked throughout the state. When people began actively looking for work again, Mississippi businesses were finally able to start filling open positions.

In fact, businesses across the state hired more than 72,000 workers in the month of June alone — the largest hiring spree in state history. But it gets better. The hiring spree continued throughout the summer and fall, with more Mississippians being hired between June and September than any other four-month period on record.

  1. Why, the math is so simple!

It’s too bad that this country prints money instead of generating it.

      1. Canadians it’s the lack of training, certification, licenses or police check.
        Your disqualified buddy!
Lots of jobs very few qualified to fill them.

  2. Doesn’t Mississippi have a “disproportionately” high ratio of Black residents? The BLM Leftists will scream that this policy “disproportionately” hurts black folk … and is hence … racist.

  3. But the progressives tell us UBI will somehow not destroy incentive to work? UBI = keep people on their couch.

    1. UBI = keep the proles voting for bread and circuses from governments run by irresponsible “progressive” parties.

    2. Don’t be silly … Nancy Pelosi said that “Free” Obamakkare would allow all of America’s “artists” to pursue their passion. Just think of how UBI will “free” the “artists” to create great works of art!? Things like … Piss Christ. Certainly on par with The Pieta

        1. Kenji,
Your parents must have been rich! My allowance when I was 9 (1967) was 25c / week.

  4. Not only are they now employed, but maybe they’ll eventually develop a f*cking sense of pride.

  5. These companies that are supposedly desperate for employees should think about why nobody wants to apply.

I personally skip over anything that mentions empowerment 3 times, lists groups of people that will be given preferential treatment, and won’t let me have a cigarette on my lunch break

  6. Reminiscent of the days of the “UIC Ski Team”, rampant inflation and massive debt and unemployment under Trudeau 1.0. “But this time it’s different!!!” Yeah, sure it is.

    1. I was part of a UIC ski team. I ran a business and was the guy who provided transport to the hill. I never criticized the guys as they all had good jobs in season and paid more takes than anyone working for the government. They also bought my drinks with of course, their and my tax money. Silly shit eh. They actually got some of their tax money back.

  7. Whodathunk it.
You cut off the welfare and people look for a job.
    What a novel concept.

    1. Well it mystified Trudoo and the liberals. Those stunned monkeys have no common sense regarding reactions to their drunken spending. Yeah, you dolts, if you make free money available to min wage workers, naturally they will opt to stay home. I don’t blame them. Any clown can reason that outcome. Except Trudoo the Clown.

  8. To be honest I don’t really blame the people living off welfare.

If someone was dumb enough to give me money without responsibility I would more than likely sit around and do nothing as well.

So I don’t really blame the people taking the money, I blame those who give it without consequences and I blame those who then attempt to defend the welfare funded destruction of lives by calling criticism racist, sexist, anti trans, anti vax and all the other bollocks excuses that exist to avoid actually taking responsibility.
