  1. L – Best guess contest: How long until a motor vehicle strikes the poll and brings it down?

Extra points if the driver is behind the wheel of the tractor/trailer rig is: a). From a mountainous state area of a large third world country. b). Couldn’t back up to a loading dock correctly, if his life depended on it.

      1. This was obviously gonna happen. You obviously do not reroute a road because of the location of a power pole. So the pole had to move, but they had not yet done it, but the road is not paved yet, so no harm done.

  2. Curious if it’s an ATCo pole. Regardless,
This has transmission (top bar) and distribution (mid bar).
There will be hell to pay here if that road is allowed to be opened. I suspect the Power Co. is going to put its foot down here and make life very uncomfortable for many, in this instance.
The Developer is responsible TO PAY for the pole relocation, and, it’s going to be BOOKOO BUCKS to move because it’s a transmission pole.
Any more stupid stories to post?

  3. I hate to be the one to pop this guy’s anxiety balloon. He seems to enjoy it so much. But, look closely at the vast majority of situations like this, where an easement road goes into a new development. 9 times out of 10, there is a curbed in, grass covered divider right at the entrance. On that divider you a lot of times find utility poles that live right along side of the professionally done sign that announces the entrance to the development.

But, don’t tell this guy. He’s having too much fun.

  4. About a year ago, there was a huge highway sign that had been installed on I-95 in Philadelphia. There was a major misspelling on the sign, clearly evident to anyone with a third grade or higher education. The sign had to have been seen by multiple people, perhaps as many as 100 or more, before it had been installed. So, in reality, everybody involved knew it was wrong and did nothing to fix it because they saw it as an opportunity all along the chain of contractors involved with the project to get the additional work in the immediate future associated with fixing this obvious screw up. I’ve always hated the parasitic class associated with anything having to do with government, but it just further solidified my belief that these leeches should all be rounded up and deported to Antarctica.

  5. Kate,
This is off topic, but very, very relevant to this site. Instapundit linked to the site I linked below. It deals with Free Speech in Canada, and how July 18th (today) the “Combatting Hate Act” goes into effect (which among other things strips a valid and often used defense to censorship that’s been used since 1970 in Canada).

There are a number of revelations at the link, not the least of which is this. In early July, Canadians learned of a 35-page internal memo from Industry Minister Mélanie Joly’s department — titled “Misinformation and Disinformation Strategy” — floating “legal action” against users on Facebook, X, and LinkedIn who post what the government deems “false and misleading information.” I know that you, personally, go to X and post some pretty entertaining comments (that I personally enjoy). BUT, you have a target on your back, I’m sure. So, you might want to take that into consideration.

Sorry for hijacking the post. But, I think this is very important. And, your media up there is, of course, playing it down because it serves the purpose(s) of those sneaking it through into the code.
