Oddments For The Weekend

Including dancing at 90 degrees; the thrill of wearing women’s knickers; what I’m guessing is a tasty snack; scenes of unblocking; and the kamikaze porn-star scandal that rocked Japan.

All this and more.

  1. I really like the anti-theft device. It would really be hit at the airport.

  2. I have personal experience of a large object being stolen. In this case it was a full-sized Ferris Wheel.

Any reader here who was in Toronto in 2004 may remember a Ferris Wheel at Harbourfront, which had four cars on it. Riders would sit in one of the cars and enjoy the ride. I was personally heavily involved in the project. The Ferris Wheel was based in The Netherlands and after the season was over it returned to the carnival operator there. From what I gathered, the owner owed some unsavoury individuals some money so they stole the Wheel and sold it for scrap. The police found the cut-up remains in a scrap yard.

The story was covered by the Toronto Star at the time.
