There’s At Least One Official with Common Sense in SoCal

Here’s a very interesting discussion with Los Angeles County Sheriff, Alex Villanueva:

Here are some facts shared by Villanueva:

  1. 50% of America’s homeless population lives in California.
  2. 25% of America’s homeless population lives in L.A. County
  3. Three elected California officials are facing recall:
    1. Soros-funded Los Angeles D.A. George Gascon
    2. Soros-funded San Francisco D.A. Chesa Boudin
    3. L.A. Councilmember Mike Bonin
  4. The Homeless Industrial Complex gets billions of dollars every year yet homelessness only ever gets worse.

  1. “The Homeless Industrial Complex gets billions of dollars every year yet homelessness only ever gets worse.”

Yes, I call it Big Homeless. These NGOs advocate for more homelessness.

    1. But of course: One of the basic laws of economics is that one gets more of whatever “good” one subsidizes.

    2. It looks like one’s set up house next to a playground across the street from where I live.

    3. Yes, in our family, we noted that when degrees in “social work” were started in the early 1960’s, that there were always be a large supply of drug addicts, bad families and homelessness for the social workers to wave their magic wands at.

      1. I think it can be traced back to when, women were allowed the vote. Don’t shoot the messenger, I’m just looking at the data

  2. A state where one individual two-person tent can typically be the recipient of $60,000 a year in subsidies. “Never get high on your own supply.”

  3. Of course half of them are here.
47 other states have been shipping them to us hand over fist for a decade and more.

Y’all can have your toothless banjo-playing kinfolk anytime you want ’em.
When the gravy train here runs out, you realize you’re getting them back right…?
And that they’ll be bringing their illegal alien buddies…?

    1. On a serious note …. any idea what the life span of a homeless person is on average?
One would think that it is a lifestyle prone to drastically shortening life expectancy but maybe not.

      1. That depends on where you are. FL or CA, where one can sleep outside almost year-round, I would guess it’s probably in the 5-20 year range. Saskatoon or Winnipeg, where outdoor sleeping without preparation can kill you ~6 months of the year, I would guess it’s probably 0.5-2 years.

    2. Really? The homeless are gonna leave the beach? Leave the beautiful environment of LA Beach Towns? Hahaha ha ha ha … sorry Santa Monicans … they’re here to stay. The courts are packed with leftist Judges who will defend homeless rights over property rights. And your voters will keep electing more tools like the current members of the LA City Council.

Sorry Adam Corolla … but there will be NO pendulum swing. CA voters had a golden opportunity to dispose of Gavin Newsom … and instead … he received >60% of the vote. And his margin was even greater in West LA. So you best get used to your “new normal” of mentally ill junkies shuffling on their feet … and woe to you if you hit one of them with your bike on the beach paths. You think the $B homeless industrial complex are gonna actually SOLVE the homeless problem and work themselves out of their lucrative taxpaid jobs? Hahahaha ha ha ha

  4. This is the Progressive Mantra,No human misery we cannot exploit and expand.
These are the lovers of “Big Government” where their natural malice can be hidden..
    Just following orders.
    We are helping you.
Look what you made me do.
I think this disaster is exactly what our Liberals mean, when they say “Investing in social programs”
Just like the Canadian Apartheid System has proven to be a winner.
Massive theft from taxpayers,in the name of “helping” the natives, notice how much better off the natives have become?
    Yeah,me neither.
Lower East Side Vancouver, where a massive parasitic overload, helps the homeless and drug addled?
Helps is such a special word.
But these creatures have grown fat on the misery they perpetuate.
    And the politicians love them.
    Birds of a feather.

    1. Absolutely correct. And at the root of this all … is the notion that our nations should ALWAYS favor the “marginalized communities”. That minorities should be favored over the majority. Sorry, but we need to wean ourselves of this “feel good” notion that we are “helping” minority communities to the detriment of the rest of us.

Look around at government policy and tell me who are the TRUE minorities? By the way government treats them … ? It’s all the NORMAL people. Job-holders, taxpayers, property owners, drivers … white people … they’re the TRUE minorities of today. Not to worry … once all the NORMAL people are marginalized … the FRINGE will start destroying the FRiNGE.

    2. John…I was going to citer Vancouver as a perfect example of Canadian “Social Justice”..

Nothing has changed since I left in 1976….nothing but simply grown larger. Gregor Robertson and other Leftist Morons very much involved in that idiocy aka Big Homelessness. Nenshi in Calgary too and I’m sure that Beotch Gondi who stole the Election here will be on that bandwagon too. She had some very large pocketed folks financing her election…would not be surprised to find SOROS backing involved.

(Dominion voting machines were used in the Civic election)

  5. “The Homeless Industrial Complex gets billions of dollars every year yet homelessness only ever gets worse.”

Key ingredient in the political swill.
You will notice that the politicians at every level, like in Calgary, whip up the “I’m going to do something for the homeless”.
Its one of the biggest scams of the politician’s life.
While people in general are somewhat sympathetic to the state of those that are homeless, the help is impossible with cooperation of the afflicted.
You gotta give it to the homeless industry, they are making a killing and laughing all the way to the bank, the homeless be damned.

  6. The homeless didn’t all die from Covid?

They must have worn their masks and sanitized and social distanced and got double jabbed.

  7. Supply and demand? The more cash provided to solve the homeless problem, the more homeless there are. Kind of like unemployment insurance causing unemployment. There is an unlimited demand for social services. Like everyone who quit their job to go on CERB. Why would this be a mystery to anyone?

  8. There are 3 problems in California – all easily and quickly solved.

    1. Homeless – If you are not from California, then get on this bus because you’re going home. If you are a local you can enter a treatment center or go to jail – your choice. In both cases there are no drugs.

    2. Immigrants – If you are in the country illegally, you are going back to your home country. You can apply from there. We only take so many people. Good luck to you all.

    3. Criminals – there are 2 types of crime, violent and non-violent. The violent criminals go to jail with no parole – jails they will never want to go back to. The non-violent don’t go to jail, they just pay a fine – enough to dissuade them from future crimes.

    You are welcome California.
