Hey, good excuse. I would expect the police to ionvestigate the computer logs.
Foolproof? Yes.
Idiot proof? No.
Fool? Proof!
Battery powered vehicles….Ahahahahahaha!
Any engineer will tell that this technology is inferior to today’s modern electronically assisted high efficiency combustion engines…hell, it’s inferior to a 4 ton 59 Chrysler Imperial IMO.
Tesla, like hydrogen filled Zeppelins will go the way of the dodo and the other existing car manufacturers dabbling in some battery nonsense will all abandon at big lost.
There is no more improvement to come out of this techno…They’ve push it to the limit. Fossil fuel is still king. Look somewhere else to replace it.
Hey, muscle car freaks, how about a battery Ford Mustang…listen to those tailpipes growl…LOL!
What about the extreme outdoor enthousiaste, the new GM Hummer is out….All battery…For the real manly man and all those charging stations in the middle of nowhere.
Sorry, I should of been more on topic…What idiot would rely on an onboard computer to move his ass amid other heavy moving objects at 120km/hr is beyond me…not to mention boring…don’t buy a car if you’re not going to drive it…´nough said.
I control my destiny….
… no square will tell Jimmy Dean what side of the road to drive on.

oh, c’mon… everybody knows that computers never @#$%^&*(!)

I agree with everything you said, except the part where you said the tech has been pushed to the limit. Battery tech is still evolving, but even if we get a 10x better energy density, the dangers inherent in accidents and the slow charging time compared to filling up with gas ain’t going away.
As I see it, if we could get one of them platinum asteroids to drop the price of platinum down around that of silver, then hydrogen fuel cells would have a chance, but until then, The ICE is king.
And there you have why there will always be liquid fueled cars and trucks, the fuel is readily portable and storable and has a good specific energy.
Interestingly ethanol has a greater energy per kg than gasoline but only 2/3rds. by volume, and we buy it by volume. The source of gasoline has few other uses but the source of ethanol is food and I maintain it is criminal to burn food.
Hey, Kate, I responded to a post about Teslas:

Do you know what is going on?
Robert..!
Good…I’ve gotten those on three occasions myself.?? WTF.?
Just WHO is doing this supposed moderating.??
It is local governments and the police who are in favor of robot controlled cars and all the otherr technology of “smart highways:, etc. They can have the bots ticket you for speeding and control your behavior and direction. They will know more. Although an electronic engineer and love more work, I would strongly urge all citizens not to relinquish control of their lives to bots. Thy are not neutral nor are they there for your benefit, they are there because those who want control want them there.
This marvel of technology can not avoid impact with a stationery object with flashing lights? Engineers, regulators, programmers, inspectors, technicians, test drivers, no one saw this as a flaw?
Model Y Tesla … 22yo Driver … driving with a suspended license. Let me guess … the privileged white offspring of a filthy rich liberal whose high-paid defense attorney will argue that the “child” wasn’t really “driving” with a suspended license … the car was driving itself. I suspect the team of Tesla attorneys will spring into action. They will claim they’ve never advertised their car as “self driving” … just a little helpful “driver assist” … and that the Tesla driver MUST keep his hand on the steering wheel at all times.
If only the Pinto and Corvair had this many chances.
