Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

America.
warts and all.
THE pioneering nation as in ‘no taxation without representation’.
250 years ago and civilization changed forever. we got a TASTE of REAL freedom thanks to a
bunch of irate colonists and the bumblings of a FOREIGN monarch.
feel free to tally all the revolutions since then, regardless of motive and regardless of success rate.
“… thanks to a bunch of irate colonists and the bumblings of a FOREIGN monarch. ”
The monarch in that case was much more inclined to press his opinions and desires than Parliament was bound to allow. That Parliament is arguably to blame for alienating the colonies to the point of rebellion and revolution. That the suffrage was not universal has something to do with it, but the Members who formed His Majesty’s Government had choices to make and they decided to ignore the interests and aspirations of too many of the governed. In particular they decided to extract so much wealth from the colonies to pay for their follies the colonists wouldn’t wear it. It doesn’t take a monarchy or any other particular form of government to do that, it takes common human folly which we can just as well empower in a democracy. As we have.
Butts’ Boy in Ottawa is bent on dismantling Canada’s economy and society, and any foreigners he is consulting on how to do that don’t include HM Queen Elizabeth of Canada.
If we separate from Canada our new country will have the seeds of the same self-destructive human behaviour as the old one. Be ready for that.
