Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Another Liberal another unwiped ass.
I want a new country too!
We could be a powerhouse in the world, but at the moment we’re the henpecked husband of Mrs. Roper from Three’s Company
Elect Andy the Spineless Sheep and we won’t notice any difference.
Was Mr Roper henpecked? I did not get that sense. I don’t recall much of that show, but I do recall that Mrs Roper craved affection and intimacy and he always brushed her off and then mugged for the camera with a face that one could never get tired of kicking.
Maybe, but it was pretty clear he was miserable with her but stayed anyhow. That was the analogy I was going for. Haha
Qualifications to be a Liberal candidate, Member of Parliament or Cabinet Minister:
1. a)Are you Divorced …From Reality ? If yes, proceed to the other qualifications below…
b).If not, you may qualify for a publicly funded, course, workshop, apprenticeship or university degree in … “studies” , upon *passing (or is that failing?), the Reality Test final, you will be certifiable …as D.F.R.
*(hint for final exam in order to pass, check the box, no clue, on the question: Where do you think the wealth that pays the salary of politicians comes from ?)
**( If you write the answer “black gold” instead, you fail the exam… you racist, carbon based, planet killing S.O.B.)
And to think he was a reasonable, likable, centrist City Councillor in Edmonton. Everybody liked the former transit bus driver. He wasn’t particularly conservative, but he also wasn’t a leftie. Then he gets himself elected as a Liberal MP and turns into a virtue-signalling, robotic, PMO-spouting automaton. Good thing that he will be defeated this fall.
That intersection is in the south industrial area of Edmonton. When there’s a train during rush hour, the traffic will back up and the waits can often be long. I’ve sat through my share of similar train crossings and they can be annoying.
Being a former bus driver, he should be accustomed to this sort of thing. However, rather than rejoicing that the train represents prosperity by what by what’s being hauled, this bozo chooses to disparage it.
Then again, he’s a federal cabinet minister, whose portfolio is for something he has absolutely no knowledge of.
Its an oil tanker train…………….and a Liberal MP, in his hometown BTW, finds THAT train annoying.
He might not get re-elected, but his Liberal panderers likely will, as 37% of Canadians are wilfully ignorant of how this country survives economically……make that 65% of Canadians, I’ll include the Greentards and the CommieNDPs in that crowd.
And a big shout out to the NB ENDPs that all abandoned the commies for the Watermelons today. It confirms what the Greenies are, truly RED on the inside!
He might not get re-elected
I wouldn’t be so sure about that. I’m vaguely familiar with his riding, Edmonton Mill Woods. I rather doubt that he was elected on the basis of party affiliation or policy.
He’s going up against Tim Uppal (CPC), the former MP for that riding, who is of the same, umm, “persuasion” as Mr. Sohi. So yes, the Liberals are likely to lose this, and all their Alberta ridings. The one to watch will be Edmonton-Strathcona, which will be a three-way, or even four-way battle.
“I’ve sat through my share of similar train crossings and they can be annoying.”
Yes. We have a track that runs N to S through the middle of Airdrie. Until recently there were no ambulances stationed at firehalls on the west side of the track because Airdrie city council were spending our taxes on all kinds of environmental B.S., and we had no firehalls on the west side of the track. Woe unto anyone whose house caught fire when a train was running through or if someone had a heart attack.
The time it took for a train to pass and traffic to clear meant death and destruction had free reign.
If only the government and industry could devise some other way to transport the contents of oil tankers.
Soon … those tanker cars will be carrying “Chinese” oil (sourced in Ghana) to energy hungry Canadians … and the rectangular-shaped railcars will be carrying Chinese-made NIKE shoes for all the “outdoorsy” Canadians. However, only those who work in the Canadian Govt. will be able to afford these Chinese goods.
Sorry Canada … you desperately need a Trump
That’s a real pretty railway you got there linking southern Ontario with the Pacific Coast. Would be such a shame if something happened to it. Ahem.
Could’ve had a pipeline or three.
We will have a pipeline of sorts Walter, it will be composed of never ending lines of tanker cars stretched from coast to coast on a rotating schedule.
All the rail cars carrying oil and tracks etc are owned by Warren Buffet, who was in love with Obama who blocked pipelines to help old Warren’s business out. If you want to see miles of Pipeline by Rail go to Lethbridge area. Buffet owns the majority of rail in the USA.
W. Yep.
Buffet loves money more than he loved Obama. You should go to Wyoming and see all of Buffet’s coal trains running off in all directions (including the port of Vancouver, BC btw).
I can relate to the frustration of a train parking across a highway. Last week I was in Swift Current. A train was blocking
#4 Hwy SE of the city. There were 10 cars left to cross and the crossing would have been opened. I backed out of the lineup, and went over the bridge that spans the rail yard. There were the engines of the train that was blocking the road, and they had an open track ahead of them. They could have driven ahead about 200 meters to clear the highway. I’ve always believed that a lot of that is done on purpose by the unions to harass the public.
As for Amarjeet, all he has to do is build pipelines,
And you are wrong. Train Crews in road service are paid by the mile, so there is no incentive for them to not be moving if they are able to. Invariably, if they aren’t moving, there is a trainmaster somewhere waiting to take a statement from them, and give them shares.
That’s on 50th street. Those are Procor cars carrying downstream products in that location, or simply empty as the Procor yard is less than a mile away. I’ve been stuck behind that train a zillion times–they aren’t supposed to be allowed to shunt cars during the day but nobody polices it.
Amarjit Sohi got in last time because of name recognition (he was a city councillor), not because he is brown in a brown area of town.
CPC candidate is going to be Tim Uppal, a Sikh dude who was in Harper’s cabinet although lived in a different riding back then. Sohi is likely going down this time.
Oh and BTW, Edm Mill Woods was the fourth closest race in the country in the last federal election, with Sohi winning by 92 votes.
This is what happens when affirmative action decides ministerial appointments. Because it is 2019! .
You mean he didn’t blame Harper? Gerald Butts will be giving him a call to instruct him on what to say.
Maxime Bernier, I am not on Twitter and never will be again. I never joined Facebook and never will. I have seen your name on here, I don’t know if it is actually you or just a staff…
If you want to win, forget the rigged debates, decline if invited.
If you want to win, staff every rail crossing in the country; when a pipeline stops traffic, you have to be there with a sign. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Lac Megantic is going to happen again. It will never be in Mount Royal, or on Sussex Drive, or in any of their neighborhoods; it will be Delisle or Vonda or Three Hills.
Spend your time attacking my enemies, not fighting to be included in their rigged games.
Treat them with the open contempt they have displayed for me for my entire life.
It actually doesn’t much matter that it’s in Edmonton or what it’s carrying: extra-long freight trains are how we move stuff efficiently all across North America.
Any Canadian whining about that has no business in government.
Evidently, the minister has never spent much time out on the prairies. I’ve driven along the Trans-Canada in southern Alberta and I’ve seen trains at least a km long running parallel to the highway and being pulled by several locomotives.
That’s not a nuisance. That represents someone making a living and earning a paycheque. Or was the minister perturbed that the train that so inconvenienced him meant that there actually were Albertans who still had jobs?
“That represents someone making a living and earning a paycheque.”
Bingo.
The Minister of Stranding Natural Resources.
Fixed that for you.
