Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

The media are gleeful that Boris lost his vote today. But they are wrong. I think Boris has outwitted his opponents. He will win an election. So the opposition will not give it to him, they are already saying so. But then, of course, he remains in power, and can simply say his hands are tied and he will stop negotiations with Europe. Or he can play along and reject any deal over the next 8 weeks. Which means a no-deal brexit that he can blame on the opposition. Only way out is to give him his election. Which the polls are telling us he will win handily. Check mate.
The Glen Campbell/Roy Clark selection yesterday made me think of this Lovin Spoonful song;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryTH3KROIqM
Which reminds me of the proper twangy Lovin’ Spoonful … before that odd autoharp thing John Sebastian fell in love with …

You can clearly see what a complete political genius that Gerry Butts is by this news item.
He alone figured out that helicoptering a whopping $12 billion tax dollars so far into big city ridings would probably sway gullible voters into voting for his idiot boss, PM Climate Dummy.
https://globalnews.ca/news/5847862/conservatives-liberals-broke-rules-summer-spending/
That old ethnocentric fascist pig, Pierre Trudeau, would be so proud of his lying son.
Western Canada wasted 40 years on this garbage because a naive Preston Manning WANTED IN.
We do need a NEW COUNTRY FOR WESTERN CANADA.
Yes you are right, and Parson Manning Begat the Faux Con Harper the Cat Herder. Who got a unassailable Majority and began implementing and building on Liberal Programs. Quote Harper. “Unleash The Cats of War”. The path of Incrementalism Does Not work. Which brings us to the Deplorable Revolution started by the election of President Trump. Smash the machine GO UDI Alberta. Go UDI. Which is why Trudeau wants solid control of all media including the internet and Free Speech. So all the Begatting an Begetting started by the supplicating and prostrate Manning led us here to the destruction of our Liberties and much much poorer. Use the Sledge Hammer go UDI.
Harper also eliminated some useless Liberal programs. He was slowly but surely cleaning things up. Now we are in a mess again. I was Trudeau gone. He is ruining Canada.
Can you list the Liberal Programs he ended Linda. After he won his last majority he should have brought on a real conservative replacement. That is why he lost and why you have Scheer. He refused to relinquish control and bring on and train a replacement. Faux Con Cat Herder.
gun registry for one, he also cut the useless and porcine CBC
The Gun Registry still exists Brian he only tinkered he promised to kill it completely you still need a PAL etc you are still in a registry. He lied and said he would get rid of it, but it is all still there.
“So far, for the length of the 42nd Parliament, Liberal MPs and ministers have issued press releases announcing 20,000 new spending commitments for a combined total of $78.7 billion”
Trudeau has spent the past 4 years spending tax dollars on a never ending re-election campaign.
yep.
and ALL the spending by ALL parties is new DEBT.
The old Frank used to have a lot of fun with Manning. After all, he was such an easy target.
For example, there was an item in one issue about him and his wife. Her maiden name was Beavis, so the magazine concluded that they must be…. (I think you can figure out the rest).
While I was teaching, one of my colleagues was a rabid Reform supporter. I posted that item in our department’s lunch room. It didn’t stay there for very long.
Keeping mind of course that if the Liberals are defeated, little or non of this money will dished out. And if you read the fine print that goes with these handouts, a lot of it is long term into the future.
So what are a lot of people going to do?? Vote for Maxime Bernier who is running at about 2.5 to 3.0 % instead of voting for Scheer who is now ahead in most polls. When the election is over and Trudeau is back in, what will the West say?? Boooohoooo!! We gotta separate??
Good luck!!
Don’t trust the polls Georges.
Georges, Hillary had a 98% chance of winning according to the left wing media. The media are both ignoring and creating uncertainty when it comes to the PPC. The media are the enemy.

While I was at UBC 40 years ago, I used to listen to an FM station based in Bellingham. That song was on its playlist. Personally, I preferred something like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFnOfpIJL0M
That was shortly after Fleetwood Mac released Tusk, so that station also played songs from that.
This too was a big hit from that era:
https://youtu.be/nvlTJrNJ5lA
That one was released a bit later in the decade, as I recall. Another one of his was on the charts in 1985:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPKi3yFmBM4
At the time, I was working in southern Alberta and the assembly shop had a radio tuned to a certain Calgary medium wave station. (I think it was CFFR 660 kHz, “Calgary’s Friendly Radio”, as it called itself back then.) That song was on its playlist.
660 is an all news and weather channel now.
( I was listening to it when I heard the news about the Jim Prentice plane crash)
It is on the ball for a repetitive channel.
That is one of those good songs you never hear now. A bad song title like that can relegate you to the dustbin. The DJ can’t pick your song because he doesn’t remember the title.
Sorry my comment was for Nancy’s song.
How about going way back to your grade school era, remember this? Recognize anybody?
https://youtu.be/gp5JCrSXkJY
I’ll take that a step further.
Back when CBC was still worth listening to (yeah, that long ago), its evening weekday schedule included a 15-minute newscast at 10 PM (about 5, maybe 10, minutes national and international items and the remainder of that timeslot for regional news).
At a quarter past the hour, there was another news program called Five Nights and it used the opening bars of that song as its theme.
Now, who, besides me, remembers what came after Five Nights?
@ 1:49pm
B A
Don’t remember that at all!
You win!
Nancy:
Five Nights was followed by Theatre 10:30, at least on CBU, Vancouver’s CBC station. It was a half-hour show which featured radio dramas, often a play specifically written for that program and sometimes run as a serial, one installment each night. I do remember that a novel was read and was similarly serialized, though it was abridged.
I enjoyed listening to it while I was in high school.
Both Five Nights and Theatre 10:30 went off the air during the mid-1970s when the CBC came up with a new schedule, something it did roughly every 5 years. I think they were replaced by a variety arts program called Nightcap, which, as I remember, ran from 10:30 to midnight. That show was followed by the famous Eclectic Circus hosted by the curmudgeonly Alan McFee.
Ah, the memories…..
Reply @ 4:08 pm
B A :
I don’t thinķ that stuff aired out East on CBC but I could be wrong. I never heard of any of the shows you write about. Maybe each CBC affiliate had leeway to do and choose their own programming to a certain extent? Do you think that possible? Then again, there was a time that I gave up TV completely for whatever reason. I was a news junkie, even back then. Those shows sound interesting though.
Used to like when this ad creeped on, late at night, it had nice music and made one want to visit the countryside.
Remember this?
https://youtu.be/2l5ap0p_3-o
Those programs I mentioned were part of CBC’s national weekday line-up. The early morning schedule as well as the 1 – 2 PM and 4 – 6 PM slots were regional. Edmonton and Calgary, for example, had different shows.
B. C. had something similar. It had a specific schedule for the lower mainland and southern Vancouver Island and a somewhat different one for the rest of the province.
Saskatchewan, on the other hand, had both Regina and Saskatoon with the same programs, even though they were the same distance apart as Edmonton and Calgary.
And, yes, I do remember those Hinterland ads. They were one of the best things about the CBC in bygone years.
I guess they meant a bit more to people like me. Where I grew up in NE B. C., we didn’t have to travel far out of town to be in the middle of nowhere and it was quite easy to see critters like many of the ones shown in those ads.
Yes Nancy Buffalo Springfield had some big hits.
And yes BA I remember some of those things from CBC radio, especially Alan McFee, a one of a kind original. I loved his show but rarely caught it because it came on so late at night.
He always signed on with the line “hello out there in vacuum land”.
@11:48

The Hinterland ads were wonderful. I have more wildlife trespassing here than I did living in the ‘country’ for 18 years in NB.
I wrote about that comical pornography last year. Don’t want to bore you.
This year the bees are loving my flowers and a bee hive lives here now. A bee bit me in 2 places last week. No swelling …it liked my sweat. It crawled under my sweater while I was talking to a neighbour.
Yikes, o-u-c-h… I made such a fool of myself trying to wiggle off a crawling thing up the arm!!!
A day in my zany life such as it was! Ha!
Nold @ 12: 03am
” Hello out there in vacuum land”….
Good one!
A double entendre if there ever was one – was he talking about the ‘expensive’ to replace tubes inside the TV! Ha!
Enjoy the green life. No power when it’s cold, no power when it’s hot.
Texas grid struggled to cope with record demand for electricity. The heat wave was compounded by a loss of power from thousands of wind turbines that couldn’t function on days when not so much as a breeze was blowing.
https://peckford42.wordpress.com/2019/09/03/natural-gas-is-needed/
” No power when it’s cold, no power when it’s hot. ”
And we thought 32 volt lighting plants ended that!
Good thing there is coal, oil and gas.
It would be good, if we could have any. Here in Long Island, NY, they’re blocking natural gas pipelines, so I’m not able to request gas service to upgrade my oil furnace (oh, the irony! A new NG boiler would be more efficient and less polluting). Electricity isn’t an option as they’re not permitting new fossil fuel or nuclear plants here either. It will be an interesting few winters here and in NYC.
SC, when the shit finally hits the fan, ie people dying because of renewal energy then you will be burning your furniture and every combustible available, that would include your masters stuff as well. Maybe even your master, that would be the asshole that people elected to destroy their lives. As has been said many times, there ain’t no cure for stupid.
Apparently PM Turddoe was a guest on a Netflix comedy show that aired last weekend. The Star thinks it was a real takedown of the Turd, that helps to undermine the Turds chances of re-election.
Here’s a link to the MSN version, as the Torstar has it blocked.
https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/politics/vinay-menon-hasan-minhaj-didnt-interview-justin-trudeau-—-he-took-him-to-the-woodshed/ar-AAGKOxi?ocid=spartanntp
Here’s a link to the YouTube link where you can watch the episode, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDPeXoQUrbI
Hasan Minhaj, still wants to believe the Turd is everything he dreams and wants for the USA. Interesting though, how the Torstar really disliked it and thinks the Turd and his handlers thought it would have been a fluffy piece.
That was hilarious Carl. Love this line from article
“I was reminded of it while watching Netflix’s Patriot Act With Hasan Minhaj on Sunday. Trudeau might as well buy himself a pair of antlers and a bushy tail before Halloween. Just based on the moments of awkward silence and the reaction shots in which he looked absolutely paralyzed with fear, he was that fawn.”
The Spawn has never had to deal with any media questions before. The odd questioner that appeared to be digging a bit simply blandly accepted the rehearsed mantras the Spawn would spew about Harper, diversity, and “Hey, we are all lefties here…wink wink nudge nudge.”
Imagine if any Canadian media were ever to ask him any real questions?
There is Ezra, Brian, Rex, and Sheila, but they are not allowed access to the Spawn.
Here is Turdough bragging about his 600 million dollar bought and paid for media.

Yup, a brutal takedown by one of his own, JT comes across as a stupid pretty boy hypocrite who talks out of both sides of his mouth. Obviously not expected, JT is stunned and trapped.
I stopped watching after a few minutes. The host was merely a shill for Prinz Dummkopf.
That one is a keeper, and there are some good observations to be made that show the Sockmonkey’s weaknesses with his base.
The most damaging one is where the hard questions came from, one of their own, the progressive media that is constantly basing anything and everything right of center.
What you saw there is the Sockmonkey getting the type of interview that would be given to a conservative politician.
What has happened is the far left feels like they have been deceived by the Sockmonkey and we can expect them to use the coming election to voice their displeasure.
Lizzy May is going to have to join the pile on or face a party coup.
The highly-sought-after Meghan Markle has hired, to improve her image, the same PR firm that once represented Harvey Weinstein:

And soon Canadians will have the Lunatic Charles as their Head of State and another Appointed Gov. General. Because Canadians are just to immature to elect a Canadian as Head of State.
Apparently at least one of them is too immature to use the correct “too” in a sentence.
Yah John that is why you make a perfect Slave at the Oars of Slave Ship Canada paying more of your income in taxes than you get to take home for your family. You ain’t any dang brighter than anyone else. Probably ask for a personalized slot at the oars.
The political strategy of the Liberals is emerging. It seems cabinet ministers will take turns releasing old videos of Hitler Scheer every week. In typical Liberal fashion, it doesn’t matter whether its true or not. Trudeau’s iPolitics website reports that a cabinet minister yesterday release a video from a couple of years ago, showing Scheer talking about credits for parents wanting to send their kids to private schools. What the video or comments from the cabinet minister fails to point out, is that the policy was dropped awhile back. Obviously Gerald Butts is back on the job. Can’t wait for next week’s video.
Outsiders who don’t know our system might think Ford is running in the Federal election.
Who Really Won WW2? Good Question.
https://buchanan.org/blog/who-won-and-who-lost-world-war-ii-137459

Groper is taking a break from his taxpayer funded fundraising in Toronto. He will be burning jet fuel to Owen Sound where he will be promising high speed internet to everyone in Canada. I’m still waiting on a reply for the pony I asked for.
“Progressives” and other Liberal Party supporters will be protesting the opening of a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Toronto Friday. A group of gays will be there, along with a group protesting the treatment of chickens. I guess the crime problem has been solved in Toronto, since people have time to protest this sort of thing.

SLC is a rather odd place for a conference because it’s a relative backwater. I recall that the Osmond family had set up a recording studio there but few musicians booked it because SLC was considered out of the way for them. It came as little surprise to people when the facility was closed.
We just returned from our Italian trip aboard a 5 masted sailing ship called the Royal Clipper. Spent 11 days from Rome to Venice with stops around Croatia, Greece and Italy. There was hardly a whisper of wind for the 11 days on board the ship, 3 days prior and 3 days in Venice. Every day was hot, sunny, humid and no wind so we motored all the time. Any windmills we saw were not moving.

Personally, I think Jagmeet is just incompetent.
Hmm.
So if the progressive parties are all fighting each other, what would be the benefit?
Slightly related
In those federal elections bar none, when the liberals are losing they petition the NDP members to lend them their vote.
How does that work if all the bridges get burned during the campaign?
I think the Liberals are worried that the Greens with siphon off some of the Liberal vote.

Guess Trudeau has more important things to attend to than engaging in debate, like passing out our money where it will benefit his chances of getting reelected.
He will not participate in the first debate.
This has to be a first.
I heard he has a very bad persistent yeast infection, and is trying to get that under control. Well after all he is a Feminist so I have to believe it now don’t I. Yah Yeast Infection. He is treating it by dipping everything in tubs of yogurt, and a little too messy to be in a debate in that condition. But here is a tip for old Andy Sneer, skip the debate as well. Come on Andy man up. It would be lovely to see the all Feminist Panelists have 2 main contestants do a NO SHOW, let them know they are nobody’s.
Instead him being covered all in yogurt, I’d rather see him festooned with tar and feathers.
So he backs out and then Scheer gets piled on instead of the Sockmonkey.
If I was Scheer I would be demanding that Bernier get to take the Sockmonkey’s empty podium.
But I’m not.
Well the Pollster’s have finished with the chicken entrails and this week predict a small MAJORITY for Trudeau. Mainly with strong support in Ontario and Quebec. They predict the NDP may lose Official Party Status, in fact the Bloc will get more seats than either the NDP or the Greeners, and Old Ma Green is holding her panties up with one hand and the other hand on the hand rail. Hang on MA nobody wants to see your Fat Ass or well, never mind. GO UDI ALBERTA you gonna have too. Close the TransCanada and burn tires like the Indians do, cuz your FOOKED.

Great Leader Groper has appointed an old Liberal Party consulting hack as our new ambassador to China. CPC Board Member Talsma defects to PPC
Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) Board member for Banff/Airdrie, Bryce Talsma, has resigned and thrown his support behind the People’s Party of Canada (PPC) local candidate, Nadine Wellwood.
Talsma has sat on Member of Parliament CPC Blake Richard’s Banff/Airdrie Board as a director for the past two years, but he believes the CPC has become a “mirror of the Liberal Party” that panders to the electorate from Ontario and Quebec and the party doesn’t serve the interests of Alberta.
“I have watched the party (CPC) for the last 18 months trying to move forward and win at all costs, regardless of their policies or principles,” Talsma observed. “They are squashing any ability to have a conversation. They have imposed a strict party discipline that muzzles their MP’s which has reduced them to trained talking parrots. I was going to be like everyone else in the party and say, ‘anyone but Trudeau’, but they are not trying to find any solutions to the structural problems of the country.”

For Hurricane Dorian.
The next information statement will be issued by 03:00 a.m. ADT.
Hurricane Dorian is expected to move into Atlantic Canada this
weekend.
1. Summary of basic information at 09:00 p.m. ADT.
Location: 30.7 North 79.8 West.
About 239 kilometres south of Charleston.
Maximum sustained winds: 176 kilometres per hour.
Present movement: north at 15 kilometres per hour.
Minimum central pressure: 961 millibars.
2. Public weather impacts and warnings summary.
High winds and rainfall will be the major impacts, especially for the southern Maritimes and Newfoundland. There will also be high waves, especially for the Atlantic coasts of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Finally, there is a chance that storm surge may affect parts of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
a. Wind.
Most regions will see some tropical storm force winds, and near and south of the forecast track winds should reach hurricane force. As the storm moves into the Maritimes, there is the possibility of hurricane force northwesterlies behind the storm. Wind impacts may be enhanced by foliage on the trees, and may cause power outages.
b. Rainfall.
Rainfall will be significant, especially north and west of Dorian's track. This suggests highest rainfall amounts are likely for the southern Maritimes and parts of Newfoundland, but some rain is likely over most regions. Amounts in excess of 50 mm are possible north and west of Dorian, and localised amounts near 100 mm are possible, especially for Nova Scotia.
c. Surge/Waves.
There will also be some rough and pounding surf, especially for parts of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Large waves will reach southwestern Nova Scotia on Saturday and build to near 10 metres over eastern Nova Scotia Saturday night. These waves will likely reach southern Newfoundland by Sunday morning. Waves near or higher than 5 metres will impact north facing coasts of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Note that waves will break higher along the coast, and rip currents are likely. Please exercise extreme caution. Storm surge is possible, mainly for parts of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland, but it is too early to be specific about which portions of the coastline may be affected.
3. Marine weather impacts and warnings summary.
As Hurricane Dorian moves into our waters, there is a good chance of hurricane force southeasterlies near and south of the track, mainly over southern Atlantic forecast waters. As the storm moves into the Maritimes, storm to hurricane force northwesterlies may develop behind it. Waves in excess of 12 metres are likely south of the storm track, beginning late Saturday over southwestern waters and approaching southern Newfoundland Sunday morning.
