  3. Ukraine over the last 3 years has removed 1320 Statues of Lenin.
    This is a good thing as it was a symbol of the Soviet occupation of Ukraine which led to millions of deaths in the Holodomor 1932-33, Ukrainians used as Soviet cannon fodder in the so-called “Patriotic War” and millions were deported to Siberia in an attempt to crush Ukrainian language, culture, sense of being, and resistance to the USSR.
    Statues of Lenin was an in your face reminder of the crimes of the USSR. Only people complaining about the removal of statues was the Russian Government which in theory is no longer a Communist Government. Hmmmm Thus solidifies that these were instruments of oppression & subjugation.
    This was not an attempt to destroy history, it was the removal of symbols of an oppressive regime.
    I say that Decommunization is a good thing.

    Kind of related, is California the Quebec of America? You got these secessionists there, are they making threats simply to extort money from the rest of the country? Is is simply a criminal enterprise state, like Quebec is a criminal enterprise province?

I think that a key difference between removing statues of Lenin and removing the Confederate statues is that Lenin and the suffering experienced under Communism in the Ukraine is still recent history. People have family members would experienced the oppression of communism directly or even died.
    By contrast, the Confederate monuments are being attacked because of their relationship to slavery. Everyone repudiates slavery, but no one alive today experienced slavery in the US South. No one is proposing to bring it back. Now racism still exists in the US, but it is very different from the driving force behind slavery. Circumstances of blacks today are radically different from those of 150 years ago. (That’s about seven generations. I do not even know who my ancestors were beyond two generations.) Slavery in the South was integrally related to the economy of the South at that time, and racism existed everywhere — in the North and the South. Today, poverty and dysfunctional families keep blacks ghettoized. Getting rid of the statues will do nothing to improve race relations, and I suspect they will make things much worse as some Southerners (who do have ancestors going back a ways) will interpret this as an attack on their heritage. I think it is shameful and short sighted — a deliberate provocation for which there will be a price to pay.

  9. Brilliant. You are correct, the PROG’s need to balance their love-hate with the Confederacy as carefully as they balance their disdain of BIG-Tobacco. Don’t make it completely illegal … but keep it alive to tax-the-shit-out-of-it while pretending you carrrrrrreeeeee about the health of smokers.
    What that means is the PROG’s need to STOP toppling statues … and just vandalize them instead. Splashing RED paint on Chris Columbus statues and street signs and whatnot.

  12. Ironic to observe that the ultra radical left’s drive to tear down all statues of Confederate personalities, is egged on by Democratic Party regulars. A glimpse at history would show that it was the Democrat Party that supported slavery and the party which held a strange hold on Southern politics from the 1860s until very recently. Lincoln was a Republican after all. But, in todays atmosphere asking people to reflect on history is asking too much.

  13. Further … I would dare say that this current spate of racist hysteria is BECAUSE … there is none (to speak of). Just as NOBODY remembers David Duke … until his name is reintroduced by the SJW’s, the same is true of racism in general. Our nation had long since moved-on and has become a colorblind society who even elected a mixed-race president with all the pomp and celebration of a conquering Hero of the ages. Nobody blinks or even notices mixed racial couples anymore. Our neighborhoods and institutions are fully integrated. The playing field in America is as racially level as any place on the planet in the history of mankind.
    What ISN’T level … is culture. A “white” (or Asian) culture that reveres the FAMILY, and EDUCATION is always going to do better than a single, poor, black, female HS dropout “household” will do. It’s not white “privilege” … it’s white “choice”. A well-adjusted hetero-sexual couple will always do better than a transgendered shim groping for love and personal identity. It’s not “homophobia”, it’s nature. A clean-cut, button-down, college republican in the sciences, is always going to do better than a multi-pierced and tattooed radical feminist bent on “fixing” all of societies “ills”. It’s not “sexism”, it’s business. The SJW’s really have NOTHING to complain about. I think it must really get under the skin of a pink-haired, tongue-pierced, mean-faced, lesbian … that people no longer give her a second glance. Meh. Seen it. So what. So she needs to raise her voice to a bloodcurdling SCREAM !!! Look at meeeeee !!! Dammit!! You’re NOT looking at meeeeee!!! I’m a victim here!! But you aren’t cooperating by “victimizing” me!!! If you don’t “victimize” me … I’m gonna have to “victimize” myself. Hence … we have a newly-discovered re-RACISM in America. All that inanimate Confederate statuary … is “victimizing” meeeeeee!!! Racism !!!!
    It reminds me of a story I read some years ago when a college assigned film students to go out and record examples of “daily racism” … but when they couldn’t find any, they started fabricating some. The SJW’s just HATE it when they have nothing to complain about. They are much like the BIG PHARMA they demonize by saying that diseases have been cured, except BIG PHARMA have suppressed the cures so they can sell drugs. The drugs the SJW’s are selling are WORSE than the most toxic cocktail of chemotherapy … all for a disease that was cured years ago.

It’s just another tactic in the relentless drive by the hysterical left to denormalize American society and shame the West. One of the most appalling aspects is the breathtaking ignorance of the perpetrators, e.g. destroying the Lincoln bust in Chicago and defacing Joan of Arc in New Orleans. These were both people whose values the American Taliban pretend to espouse.

  17. I would suggest that the tearing down of Lenin statues was done by people who not only suffered under communism and knew what they were doing but also just removed the last vestiges of a system that was already dying.
    First-World white liberals are just looking for some vandalism opportunities.

  19. This is why I have unfriended all the cops I knew, as well as anyone with cops in their family. I have finally learned you can always trust cops to be spineless snivelling twits when a real principle is on the line. They did it in Nazi Germany, they did it in Soviet Russia, they are doing it now in Europe and in the US. They stood aside and let evil triumph over good. They are thoroughly useless human beings with precious little in the skills, brains, courage or integrity department, as has been shown again and again and again now in the US, as they stood aside and aided and abetted theft at the highest levels.
    For when I have had my right to hear someone speak stolen from me by fascist goons, when my children have had their physical and geographical history stolen from them by more fascist goons, and then my children have had their childhood and innocence robbed from them by scumbags and perverts in the media and school systems, where were the cops? But hey, have an expired license plate sticker, amd they are all over that. Better yet, hurt someone’s feelings on Facebook, and look out!
    Sorry, Western cops are useless, worthless and if you are married to one, Shame On You! For they, of all among us, were empowered trained, and equipped to serve and protect…and they chose cowardice. Real men and women despise cowardice in all its forms, but most especially in the empowered and mandated.
    Statues being torn down? That is the police complicit in theft and vandalism. If I leave the scene as someone drowns, and refuse to throw them a dockside lifebelt, am I not guilty of a crime in most civilized states?
    If you are a cop, do us all a favour. Quit. Your. Job. Real men and women have families to raise and a nation to save, and you are on the wrong side.

    The point I attempted to make is that most leaders in history have widely held opinions. PET was no exception. His views on assimilation may one day fall out of favour. Then what?
    Certainly every attempt will be made to sanitize his image but you never know…and therein lies the danger

  22. Tommy Douglas who was an advocate for eugenics and suggested homosexuality was a mental disorder has yet to come under attack by the SJW. It may never happen but you can’t be certain.
    That is the risk you run when you start destroying icons and rewriting history. Sooner or later your ox gets gored.
