Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

47%–Yes
53%-NO.
London needs a Mayor like former Vancouver Mayor Larry Campbell, who championed our shooting galleries all the way to the Senate. Vancouver is now the pride of Canada and the envy of the world as our shooting galleries are the finest on the planet, staffed by RN’s.
They apparently have a success rate of 20%, but I don’t know the criteria for what they call a success. Six months clean? Six days?
Some day,in the not too distant future, someone is going to figure out that enabling costs a hell of a lot of money that we can’t afford, and they’re going to pull the rug out, leaving a lot of junkies in the lurch.
Then our precious national resource is going to need a BIG fix.
Their criteria for success is permanent employment for the staff funded by taxes.
They should offer one free self administered quadruple dose paid for by the taxpayers.
Yeah,ain’t that the truth.
Some people become addicts following medical treatment, where they inadvertently may become dependent on the drugs that were used to treat them. Most, however, voluntarily begin using addictive drugs despite knowledge of the likelihood of HIV transmission and addiction. The latter group is not worthy of public support. This is natural selection at work.
The goverment should’nt force people take any sort of shots like their doing in California and govenor Moonbeam
Is it just me that sees the beauty of a man named Tom Cull supporting a safe injection site?
Like most of the idiocy of manmade global warming/CC you could not make this stuff up.
Screw waiting for the asteroid, how can I direct it?
It’s not just you any more, john, thanks for pointing it out. If this guy Cull has a kid named Darwin, I’ll get scared.
Except that they still end up in our hospitals. What are doctors to do? Turn them away?
What about smokers? And people with poor diets? Or hockey players? Do they get treated for knowingly doing something that is dangerous?
Safe injection sites save lives and may lower costs. That means they make sense.
Incidentally, I’ve contacted the journalist to let her know that the poll results are being skewed by a rightwing blog based in Saskatchewan. That is a story in and of itself.
Northern Canada needs thousands of miles of roads built
with most of the work to be done in the middle of
nowhere.
Addicts need their drugs if getting clean is not
physically or mentally possible.
There is some sort of synergy dormant in that
scenario.
Safe injection sites keeps useless humanity alive. Lucky us.
Safe injection sites save lives and may lower costs.
Prove it, or you’re just recycling BS talking points.
And here’s John, typical little mamby-pamby: “Waaa, waaa, I’m tellin on you!”
“Safe injection sites save lives and may lower costs” John
You must know that “MAY” also means “May Not”. The Canadian Senate
testimony challenged those factual claims. I understand they get a chance to provide “valid” evidence of OD rates… etc
Johnnie told on us??? What a pathetic loser. Get a life boy.
If needle “exchange” programs were working, there should be no needles found lying around since for each needle distributed, one should be returned. Yet in following a televised ride along with a needle “exchange” worker, I saw a lot of needles distributed, and not a single needle returned nor any sharps disposal container being used (although I imagine one is available for show) which would be a minimum health safety requirement for handling contaminated needles. I suspect there’s precious little exchanging and a lot more distributing/enabling in needle “exchange” programs.
‘What about smokers? And people with poor diets? Or hockey players?’
Only a fool would equate those 3 things with the injecting of lethal body and soul destroying crap directly into your blood stream.
Except that those people can be contributing members of society… Junkies not so much.
The end of that article makes mention of bill C2 inacted by the Harper government in response to a SCOC ruling that ruled that safe injection sites where helpful so the big bad conservatives couldn’t stop them.
Heh
Interesting to note that when C2 came into effect an MP by the name of Eve Adams supported it.

Hey John here’s a little more for your story. I do commercial landscape in London Ontario and at our annual safety meeting we where told to bring along a container if we are working near downtown to put the used needles – I said nope I’ll call the health unit and they can do the dirty work, or maybe kindly pass along your number – and you can pick them up.
You want to equate smokers with people shooting up drugs with needles – great let me smoke in restaurants so I don’t feel left out….
“‘What about smokers? And people with poor diets? Or hockey players?’
Only a fool would equate those 3 things with the injecting of lethal body and soul destroying crap directly into your blood stream.
Smoking kills about 6 million people every year and costs the global economy about $200 billion in health care costs. In Canada it costs us about $15 billion every year. So yes. I am going to equate it with injecting crap into your blood stream. Why not just let them die? Or make it illegal. Sure people will still smoke and we’ll just end up enriching criminal organizations that continue to supply product to smokers, but hey… you guys will be acting righteously.
Injection sites save lives? For most who use them, they may prolong lives, but even if a junkie manages to avoid HIV, HepC, or other dangers, if they continue using, the end result is still a dead human being. It may take longer (and more crime and misery along the way) but the end result is the same. Dead. And I don’t rejoice over that – it grieves me. But to suggest that delaying the death is “saving lives” is illogical, and best touted by those who have never lived in these areas. It is true, there is the rare person who uses these sites who also gets off the drugs, due to OTHER factors, not the injection site. However, there are also individuals who are more easily led into drugs because of the availability and “compassion” that sites like these offer. Note: Compassion = non-judgemental, non-shaming, caring, and other words to mask the enablement that is occurring.
Like so many other do-gooder schemes these injection sites go a long way to enriching the enablers and killing off more of the poor.
Lots of poor brown people?
Funny how, when you scratch a Progressive you find a people hating lover of Eugenics.
John, you say smokers cost $15 billion a year in health care costs. Do you have a source you could share for that figure? I do know cigarette taxes bring in about $700 million, with provincial sales taxes on top of that. I suspect the various governments make a tidy little profit.
Here’s my source.
http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2014/02/11/tobacco-tax-2014-canada-budget_n_4769553.html
so the drugs they are shooting up are illegal and the province or the city want to help people take illegal drugs. it does not get more bent than that.
I suppose John thought his reasoning was so sound that he would win the day and change hearts and minds. Even more pathetic is maybe he doesn’t realize how shallow and ubiquitous his talking points are. Perhaps John is a simple troll intending to confound the simple-minded knuckle-draggers by throwing a wrench into the works. Don’t give up though my boy. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. There’s a bit of recreation to be enjoyed by blowing your featherbrained notions out of the water.
“John” is a racist troll, spreading it’s vile hatred wherever he/she can.
Just ignore, there are too many dime-a-dozen haters like “john” online to bother with.
