    The libertarian wanks scream about the militarization of the police, about SWAT raids at the wrong address, and complain about everything the cops do to. My advice to the cops today is this – QUIT. Turn in your badge, your gun, clean out your locker – and walk away. Retired cops I know have forbidden their children from following in their footsteps and becoming cops – and I think they are right to do so.
    When Obama’s children chimp out in Ferguson – let them clean up their own mess. As one of my favourite bloggers likes to say – we shoulda picked our own damn cotton.

Yes the Chief was speaking honestly, as gangs have unfortunately progressed well beyond the day of the Saturday Night Special (cheap revolvers) and do now have access to “high capacity, quality firearms…” I took no offence in his statement, he was stating the current reality of what his officers face day to day.
    I saw a few tweets last night on how some of the so called “journalists” in Ferguson are padding their social media profiles by using their Ferguson reporting. The more bang-bang, the bigger the reporting brag, so fomenting outrage by the citizens is of value to the reporters. They no longer report the news, they are trying to create it.

  20. My problem is this is the guy who denounced the Milwaukee County Sheriff who frankly declared, that when seconds count,the police are only minutes away. Then he recommended the public to by a firearm and learn how to use it. This DemonRAT, anti-gun, police chief went ballistic…so did Piers Morgan.
    The Sheriff is elected and the chief is appointed…..

  21. Bu…Bu…But! How can this police commissioner (chief?) or whatever be at fault? lHe has 4 stars on his epaulet. He is in command of more police heroes than Patton, Bradley, Spruance, Buckner, puller. It never ceases to amaze me that these two bit towns, in a proxysm of self aggrandisement promote their chiefs using higher ranks than Corp and Army commanders, commanding up to a million combat soldiers. These two bit politicians think they are more heroic than Lee, Grant, Washington, etc. The people of those hamlets, too small minded to call them towns or cities, should laugh and point at these clowns.
    We need a national standard designating command status and rank among our heroic local constabularies. One exception, the lowest rank for a chief level should be a captain, merely, as in the Navy, designating who is in charge. (captain bine level O-3 not O-6.)

    The four stars certainly are misleading for anyone with a US military background. Milwaukee seems to be following the same pattern on police rank as many other US jurisdictions. Above captain (two gold bars), the three next senior police ranks which would correspond to major, lieutenant-colonel and colonel aren’t indicated in the manner you might assume (i.e., gold oak leaf, silver oak leaf, silver eagle); these ranks are indicated by one, two and three gold stars respectively.
    The chief has four gold stars but his approximate parallel US Army rank is brigadier-general (one sliver star).
    Seen this way, the chief’s rank seems quite appropriate for a force of 1300 uniformed personnel.
    I doubt you will ever get all US federal, state and municipal law enforcement agencies and departments to agree on common rank insignia. Nor should you expect to.

  28. By what he says I’m not sure the Chief has a problem with law abiding citizens owning firearms, just criminals, but he sure told the MSM in a round about way what he thinks of them. The atheist leaders of the 20th century have killed many times more than all the religious disputes over the last 2,000 years. And don’t anyone tell me that Hitler was a Catholic. He was born Catholic and Stalin was born Orthodox, Mao, probably Buddhist, but they all renounced the faith of their parents and either flogged atheism or as in the case of Herr Snurbart, some ancient Norse nonsense.

    Finally he is full of $hit. Overwhelming majority of shootings, including gang shootings do not involve anything that could be described as “high capacity” those statistics are well know and easy to verify.

The amount of deaths “caused” by religion is not documented, and context of such deaths is even more obscure, but in that even kristians will admit that kristianity has changed is an admission that it needed changing, and the needless deaths (witch burning being just one example)are even morally worst than the lefties slaughter in that the church represented “God’s” will and should have protected God’s ppl, and not slaughtered them

  36. The passion, whether real or put-on was impressive but the battle he referred to is a symptom of the results of LBJ’s Great Society, a situation that “better policing” can do little to change. They arrive after the crime and unless they literally garrison the Black urban ghetto population they will have little impact on prevention. This guy’s job is 90% politics and he obviously appeals to the law and order crowd.

  41. I keep hearing in similar discussions that the rank and file are the good guys and that the problem is with the chiefs. These opinions are often expressed by the law and order crowd. Personally, I think these arguments are BS, and that all blue boys are worth each other. However here, it appears that the rank and file are not very impressed with their chief, yet the law and order guys are singing hosannas, funny that.

  42. This guy may or may not be a good Police Chief, but for a moment he spoke well, and from the heart. Notwithstanding the firearms comment I support what he said and the passion with which he said it.
