  1. It appears that Wildrose is using the same brains as Hudak. They actually believe that their key to success is moving left.
    Today’s politicos have no moral center or ideological underpinnings.
    Old fashioned concepts I suppose.
    Free marketers who will immediately turn communist if there’s an extra vote or two available.

  2. In a politically progressive culture the limited appetite for liberty won’t get them into power and they must therefore pimp from the mushy and mindless middle. Using Obama’s vacuous LIV spin magnet is logical decor when one considers that Obama’s approval is higher in Canadian polls than in the US. At best, the WRP would serve as a government that cedes liberty conservatively.
    Political involvement doesn’t change the culture. Infesting academia, the media and entertainment industries apparently does.

  3. Nowadays a centrist Party would look extreme right-wing compared to the usual bunch of leftists who occasionally like to venture a tad right if it suits their political purposes.
    Danielle Smith has bought into the same climate change bs as all the other parties,so whats the difference in government expected.

  4. This is completely in step with the WildRose’s transformation into PC Redux. Get a PC membership to vote in their leadership race, it’s the only way.

  7. Oh com’on. A simple turn of phrase and the ‘right’ tosses them under the bus?
    If you think democracy is well served in a single party state…..After 40 plus years in office without dwelling on their record it’s time to try something else.
    The WR isn’t perfect by a long shot but I’m willing to give them a shot. They are the only conservatives in the race.

  8. I turned on them because they turned on me and the principles they claimed to have. No more Alberta police force or pension or better transfers or free speech or ANYTHING. Just free money for Calgary and Edmonton’s stupid transit plans of grandeur.

  9. I’ve fired off an email to Wild Rose asking to clarify their position, particularly the decision to use Marxist terminology.
    I suggested that Progressive values are incompatible with conservative/libertarian values and that adopting a progressive stance will hasten the end of the party. You end up with a PROGRESSIVE conservative party.
    By the way, a poorly chosen phrase is one thing. A conscious decision by Wild Rose to go all Progzilla is a conscious decision to throw conservatives under the bus. I’m keeping an eye on them.

    Sent an email to MLA for Rockyview on the subject of AGW
    The reply came as a form letter that was put together by some apparatchik demagogues. Absolutely nothing, zero, nada, on the subject of my email.
    Have send this post to the MLA, gave him piece of my mind, told him not interested in form letters, you come up with an answer.
    Don’t expect a reply.
    Will keep you posted.

  11. Danielle Smith is a fake and a panderer. Will say or do just about anything to get elected. I was flabbergasted seeing how fast after the last election she turned 180 degrees and said the exact opposite of what she was saying just 5 minutes ago. No principles. No nothing. Just power hungry.
    The only hope is getting on the PC leadership race to prevent the coronation of the leftist Jim Prentice. Why don’t we start a movement to draft Ezra Levant for the PC leadership race?

  13. Daneille Smith talks a good game but she is a closet Red. She hired Stephen Carter twice, pushed all the Alberta Alliance members out which included all her leadership supporters. She hired Amanda Wilkie to work in the head office before Amanda and her father left for Redford, ever wonder why Princess Amanda was so catty Smith during the election? That’s why.
    She let Stephen Carter walk away with all the membership lists. Put the office in the most trendy high priced cramped location possible even though there was no parking for volunteers and eventually moved it to Edmonton to appease Link Byfield and his merry band of men that had a snit and broke off to form Wildrose in the first place because the office wasn’t in Edmonton and also hired Jeff Trynchy whom I never for a moment believed he was a Conservative.
    That’s all just for starters.

  14. Nope, Danielle can go pound sand. No more CINOs. If you can’t keep standing up for what you believe in the face of adversity, or election results, you don’t stand up for anything.
    Let Prentice win, let McIver win, let Tommy boy win. It doesn’t matter: just let it burn. All three of them are pro-TFW citizenship anyways. Just more liberal voters.

  16. The Alberta PC’s are not conservatives and never have been. Lougheed was a progressive who had a great penchant for meddling in business. He was a big government guy. The NDP and Liberals found a comfortable pew in the PC party with Lougheed.
    His successors were for the most part Lougheed clones. Klein was a slight exception but he was a Liberal prior to joining the PC’s. A smooth transition. When he had a chance to take on the unions – he took a pass. After all they vote PC.
    As for Getty, Stelmach and Redford…..well how’d that work out for conservatives? Prentice will be more of the same. The union vote will be courted, taxes will go up and the same faces that sat on the front bench of the Redford government will be back.
    Alberta is not a conservative province and hasn’t been since the Manning days. It is as progressive as Ontario, Quebec or the Maritimes only with more money. Have you heard Prentice or any of the ‘candidates’ mention the word conservative?
    The Wild Rose may not measure up well as a conservative party but it sure as hell has conservatives in it, something you can’t say about the AB PC’s.

  17. This is grossly unfair to Klein. Yeah he was a Liberal so what? The Alberta Liberals were, in the mid-90s one of Canada’s most right-ward factions. Klein wasn’t perfect but he cut costs and even tore down hospitals.
    One of the few bright spots in the PC leadership campaign is that the front-runners are going to stand up against the federal government’s asinine and destructive crackdown on the TFW program. Indeed some of them want Albertan autonomy over immigration like Quebec has. Jason Kenney even called Lucozsook an a**hole which makes me like Leucozook a little bit.

  18. Just vote for the person closest to your own beliefs. Party Politics is just a cover for Political entitled elitists. I’ve had enough of these phoney conservatives.
    Danielle Smith changers her mind so much its become a caricature of the old saying Women have the right to change their minds.
    A guy I know at work who lived most of his life in a communist country loathes her.
    He said he can smell these party hacks a mile away. So far he’s been right. She never even stuck up ,but approved the High River gun grab.
    Her own constituency. These double minded power junkies have got to go.
    They have no ethics & less morals. Liars the lot of them. Why trade one Red Queen for another?
    The other candidates are just more big government of the same smell.
