Your Ontario election day and results thread is now open. (bumped to top)
Well, early (snort), but it may be a Liberal majority. Bring on the asteroid! -Lance
Update (Kate) – I can’t say I’m surprised. When SDA loyalists were lukewarm to Hudak, there wasn’t much likelihood he would inspire the masses.
Har.
Good news for MB tonight… Some folks from Ontario heading to SK for work might stop for food and gas on the way through. #onpoli #mbpoli

Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle Dumber; take your pick.
“Politicians are the same all over. They promise to build a bridge where there is no river.”
Nikita S. Khruschev
No need to place the asteroid on stand-by. Just set it in motion now. Be sure to aim it at Toronto. After all it’s the only reason why the Liberals are still in power here.
I believe in Santa Claus. Please don’t let the wicked witch of the north win!
Now off to the LCBO! Gotta cover all eventualities!
Most readers will have seen the numbers used here but it is good to see them all together to get the big picture of the debt tsunami that will hit if the liberals are re-elected in Ont.
This may fill some time until the polls close.

If the Liberals get in again I’m going to be researching retirement in Belize because the province will be bankrupt in a few years.
To all of my Ontario friends looking to get out (regardless of the election results)… Saskatchewan welcomes you with open arms! Hard to spell, easy to draw, and open for business.
I`m guessing PC majority. I lie to pollsters, so do most voters.
Seriously considering it. Need a couple grand though for seed money.
If the Liberals get re-elected that asteroid better have some gold in it, because before it hits it will be taxed to the nines. However, if it lands in the ring-of-fire, then I guess it will be another story because it will just sit there doing no good to anyone.
Nope.
Wynne with a majority. Toronto yuppies will come to their senses and realise the gravy train might be derailed if anyone but Wynne wins.
I just heard a rumor that all the final polls will be counted by Toronto Star reporters to assure a fair tally.
“easy to draw”
You do realize the eastern border is not a straight line. It’s got more crooks than the Ontario Liberals.
Blazing Cat Fur summed up the Ontario election a few weeks ago…

Scar said: “It’s got more crooks than the Ontario Liberals.”
I very much doubt that.
Remember friends, every spoiled ballot, every protest vote for the Libertarian, every “They’re all crooks, I’m staying home” tantrum and every misguided vote for the “better candidate” is a vote for Kathleen Wynne.
If Wynnie gets a majority, or even a minority, things around here are going to take a hard turn for the worse.
In my riding I have the ‘None of the Above’ party.
http://nota.ca/
I voted for him already!
Thanks for the sentiment, Just a Guy, but you should know there’s a whole buncha guys here who don’t want any of us.
If I can swing the numbers, I’ll be joining Big Al in Belize – the scuba is awesome!
If the electorate is that damn dumb to re-elect the lying Liberals I hope Wynne and Co. raid the Teachers Pension fund and leave them stuck with Ontario Bonds…soon to be worth as much as Greece’s.
The money has to come from someplace folks…and it would be such justice if they did loot the teachers for all their support at all costs.
This from an FB exchange with a former co-worker in TO. There’s no hope.
” So what’s the alternative? Is the NDP going to spend less than liberals? Not likely. And what are the PCs promising? To cut teachers and nurses get rid is all day kindergarten, increase class sizes and hospital wait times so they can give tax breaks to corporations in hopes that it will create jobs when its been already proven that trickle down economic don’t work. I am not claiming the liberals are perfect I was never a fan of Mcguinty but the alternatives are much worse. If people want change then vote for Wynne. She is not the same as Mcguinty.”
I’m living in fear of the worst. I simply could not (still cannot) fathom how Obungler got RE-elected a second time in the U.S., and since that “impossible” event I now fear Ontario (led by Toronto) is just as dumb.
It’s not the Toronto yuppies; they were lost to the Libranos years ago. It’s the suburban voters who gave Harper his majority that will have to vote for Who-dat? if the Tories are to have any chance.
On the plus side, after Eaves, Tory, and Who-dat?, we might finally get someone running the Tories who doesn’t ram his foot down his throat repeatedly, who double-checks his arithmetic, and doesn’t give the opposition a handy tool (“100,000 jobs lost!”) to beat him over the head with.
Not that I’m the sort who would ever wish ill on anyone, but if the Liberals ‘wynne’, and Kathleen then develops prostate cancer, I might allow myself a small smile.
I am also looking at foreign countries to retire to.
This election underlines the great need for electoral reform. I’m not talking about proportional representation or the usual other hare-brained ideas that keep being regurgitated, but, rather, the one simple reform that we urgently need is a space on the ballot marked “none of the above.” If the slate of party candidates can’t beat “none of the above,” then the election should be voided and the parties forced to come back with new candidates – at their own expense. That should help generate serious candidates and serious platforms. Of course, that presupposes that the electorate has a brain bigger than a gnat, which, judging from the strength in the polls of the odious McGuinty/Wynne government and their “Spending the way to prosperity” philosophy, may be a presumptuous assumption.
Oh, Judas Priest, that already exists, it’s called declining your ballot and it’s been part of the Elections Act for decades. I was doing it in university.
It would behoove people to educate themselves on the tools we already have before trying to create new ones.
Voted but not optimistic.
You know Al. I’ve been thinking the same thing.
A Wynne minority is the worst possible outcome here. The liebrawls propped up by the dippers.
The great foolishness in Ontario is that conservatives allowed Hudak – a man that makes a road block seem dynamic – to remain the leader even after he lost the previous election.
Rightly or wrongly politics is about the appeal of the candidate. Poor Tim, it is not his fault, but at the personal level he just does not have it.
Webley Silvernail, Daniel Ream and Rick S: As I said above, votes for “None Of The Above”, declined ballots and other such are all actually votes for the Liberals.
Your choices are two kinds of Communist and one guy who’s not very attractive but otherwise ok.
Choose.
Maybe Alberta’s not running surpluses isn’t such a bad thing in the short run. At least under the current regime we don’t look like a “have” province, thereby getting stuck with the bill for Ontario’s “have not” status. It looks as though Saskatchewan’s going to be picking up the tab for Ontario’s stupidity for the foreseeable future.
I get a phone call a day from the commies and the thieves and I keep on telling them to count on my vote for them today.
(Are they allowed to call on election day?)
Just voted for Robert Scott (PC) who doesn’t stand a chance in my riding.
Who knew we have a Vegan Environmental Party here in ON?
Hey Glengarrian-
Why raid the Teacher’s Pension Plan when you can conjure up a brand new one and use it to pillage the populace?
I live in a safely blue riding, so I vote a straight Freedom Party ticket to send a message. Whether that’s where it comes from or not, the PC’s hard tack towards individual property rights looks a lot like the Freedom Party platform.
If everyone always voted for the least bad of the Big Three, we’d have never had the Reform or Wild Rose parties.
JGC, I hope you explained to your friend a few facts about the issue:
the conservatives did not say they were cutting teacher jobs or nursing jobs. They said they were targeting bureaucracy jobs and middle management jobs, and they would be doing it through attrition. They even said they wanted to increase front line staff in healthcare. All day kindergarten should be an issue you can argue and win on. Numerous studies show children do better with the half day schedule at that age. Supporting all-day kindergarten is a selfish response for those that don’t want to arrange/pay for day care. And they did not say they wanted to give tax breaks to big corporations. These are lies propagated by the Liberals and their supporters. He proposed lowering the business tax period. This affects every business in Ontario, the majority of which are small businesses. And study after study shows that lowering corporate tax rates attracts new business investment and expansion of existing businesses.
You can beat on a liberal with facts and studies all you want. They will ignore them and scream “HATER!” just because you think differently.
Although I really , really, really wanted to decline my ballot as a shot across the bow of all parties, somebody has to take a stand against the Liberals.
So I voted for the PC guy.
Highway 17 over Lake Superior is gonna be some busy with the exodus.
Beer – check. Crown Royal (if things go sideways) – check. Smokes – check. Junk food – check. I think I’m prepared for anything but I still have bad vibes right now. The GTA folks are largely brain dead.
I fear the worst case scenario for Ontariowe, a minority Liberal government, back to square one, an election for nothing and political and economic unrest for decades to come. Having said this, I’ll be happy to eat these words should the PC’s come through in spite of Toronto.
Because the Teachers Pension Plan is already there loaded with money for the Liberals to roll around in.
The proposed Ontario Pension Plan isn’t up and running yet….
I can see why most Ontario voters are turned off by all three leaders. Hudak reminds me of Clevis the Slack Jawed Yokel. Wynne looks like the Wicked Witch of the West, and Horvath looks like Little Miss Busy. That aside I could never support a party that has done as much harm to a province like the Liberals have to Ontario. Of course in a previous incarnation the NDs did similar damage which leaves one with the unpleasant realization that the best of the bad lot is a slack jawed yokel.
I remain hopeful, but like Brian I have alcohol and other assorted mind numbing items at my disposal should things go south.
Took 3 votes away from the Liberals today by speaking out during today’s outing. Got 1 to go PC, no “commitment” from the other 2 other than not Liberal.
No, Wynne doesn’t look like the Wicked Witch of the West.
She looks like one of the puppets from that old British show called Spitting Image.
A caricaturist would despair her because the real thing also is it’s own caricature.
That’s a rare thing in nature.
You’re kidding, right?
Saskatchewan is just nicely getting on it’s feet now. Just because they screwed up Ontario to the point where it is unliveable doesn’t mean they are welcome here.
My one consolation as I sit here hating the people who live in my province is that the debt dung storm will hit during the mandate of the a holes who caused it to the d bags who voted for it.
I will be ruthless, merciless and mean with my “I told you so”s
Except that the retards will blame it on Harper, you’ll see.
The hopeless partisans, commies and morons will blame it on Harper, Harris, the Koch brothers, the boogie man…
But it should wake up a good number of people. Hopefully enough to discredit them for 10 or 15 years.
Then the miseducation system will have produced another round of useful idiots of course.
I suppose I’m being overly optimistic in a world heading toward Idiocracy.
Look at the bright side Winny will not get a majority and the Dippers have to support her which is death by a thousand cuts. Minority government could fold as soon as the next credit down grade. Maybe if a bunch of companies pull out the message will sink in.
Camilla Parker-Bowles looks hot when standing beside that hideous hatrack Wynne.
The WORST part of Wynneing would be having to look at its ugly mug for another 5 years.
Hoping for a Wynne minority, that will have the NDP forced to support the libs again. In a years time the debt interest bill will be up to 15 billion, the credit rating will have been lowered, Wynne will be forced to cut school, hospitals, civil servants etc just in time for the federal election. See this is the result of voting for an irresponsible government.
You’re right there,mate…..Just ask the yanks how well that did for them last election..
Fraud, Van Jones style.
