The casualties from the CFB Wainwright incident must be catastrophic and numerous.
A CanWest Air Beech King Air B250 air ambulance currently inbound to Wainwright from Slave Lake.
Slave Lake is about 450km or 280 miles from Wainwright.
And more.
@JeffSempleGN – More than a dozen CAF personnel literally parachuting into Wainwright, arriving at the local health centre to respond to the explosion and fire at the nearby Canadian Forces Base.
Update #3: Alberta Energy Regulator has denied a gas well/energy infrastructure was involved.
Update #2, also unconfirmed.
A catastrophic blast at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright, Alberta has reportedly resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries during a live fire military training operation.
According to local sources on base, Canadian Forces personnel had been conducting exercises over several days when an artillery projectile reportedly struck an active natural gas well on the bombing range, triggering a massive detonation.
The blast is said to have levelled nearby tactical training buildings, with subsequent fires reaching munitions storage and setting off secondary detonations across the range.
The geography and infrastructure;
➟ CFB Wainwright has a documented history of natural gas production, with approximately 180 wells reported on the military property in 2014.
➟ Military range maps identify munitions storage, pipelines and designated live fire danger areas near Peterson Pond.
➟ NASA FIRMS satellite imagery recorded multiple thermal hotspots between Peterson Pond and Jamieson Lake on October 17.
Local accounts also describe hospitals activating Code Orange protocols, mobilizing stretchers and preparing for a significant influx of casualties.
The reported gas well strike, secondary detonations and hospital emergency measures remain unconfirmed as authorities investigate the incident.
Should these reports be confirmed, my thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved and affected.

Facebook account from Wainwright is citing injured at 500. That seems high, I hope it's wrong.
Update. Unconfirmed, but the source is on the scene, a long term care patient.

I know we have readers in the Wainwright area, any information you might have is welcome in the comments, but if it's hearsay, please indicate that.
A major fire at CFB Wainwright has prompted responses from both the Alberta and federal governments, with leaders describing Saturday’s incident as serious and affecting military personnel at the base.
Premier Danielle Smith said Alberta’s government is learning more about what she called a “significant and tragic fire” at the Canadian Forces, located about 200 kilometres southeast of Edmonton.
“We are learning of a significant and tragic fire at CFB Wainwright today that is affecting many of our brave military personnel,” Smith said in a post on social media.
Smith said Alberta officials are in close contact with the federal government and Prime Minister Mark Carney as the situation continues to develop
Report of multiple aircraft appear to be inbound to CFB Wainwright in response to "the incident" (apparent explosion/fire).
The western prairies are under wind warnings, it's a bad night for a fire.
Unconfirmed: 50+ INJURED

They're still bringing people in

Allah Akbar or First Nations? Coin toss? Oh, maybe climate change…..
There’s quite a lot of info as the Crash account updates. He’s a long term care patient there, so is reporting on scene.
Just another arsonist.
Satellite shows multiple fires starting 5+ hours ago in “danger area Z” which must be a bombing range?

An account on X is complaining they were doing live fire in these gale force winds. The front hit us here in central Sask (about 4 hours to the east) about 6:00pm – 100km gusts.
Related or not, I don’t know.
Looking at Google maps, there appears to be ammunition storage to the E/NE of where the fires started. Bunkers or storage containers spaced out so they don’t all go at once.
Just guessing… Training or demonstration starts multiple small fires, hours later hits ammo dump as the troops are trying to fight it.
Any fire in these conditions would be a nightmare.
Rolled through here about one, did a bunch of damage, dropped a bunch of trees. We were lucky.
Did that drunkard womanizer Hegseth attack?
More than likely it was China.
He was at the Tennessee-Bama game this afternoon !
This disaster is horrific and I truly hope there are not as many burn injured as it sounds like.
Thanks for the update from Alberta Energy Regulator re: gas well explosion, there’s quite a few X/Twitter posts stating this is what happened.
The winds in Calgary today were incredible and I imagine they’d be worse in wide open prairie as one got further away from the mountains.
Very sorry to hear that there are so many injured. I have a hard time separating this incident from the thwarted terrorist plot that happened in the UK several weeks ago.
The Western Standard is reporting seven killed. Many injured.
I’m starting to wonder if Command gave the order to try and put out a grassfire and the lack of experience and high winds created a “Burnover” situation. Even experienced wild fire personnel have a hard time interpreting a fast moving fire during dry high winds. Any personnel carriers are going to have full tank of gas. And they are going to explode.
Mark Carney’s Twitter statement on the tragedy starts out as follows:
“The serious incident creating a major fire has occurred at CFB Wainwright, in Alberta. Our thoughts are with all the brave women and men affected…”.
As if the majority of casualties are women.
I thought the fire was the “serious incident”. So, somthing happened before the fire. Maybe an explosion?
They were training up to fight the yanks!
Even under circumstances like these you are still manage to be a complete moronic halfwit.
STFU GYM.
Deplatform this beeyatch.
jessica you fukup
Shut yer pie hole , before I decide to trak you down, and shove that computer up yer askhole
Careful, NME666, you are getting very close to the criminal offense of uttering, threatening physical harm to another. For your benefit, here is a definition.
“In Canada, uttering threats is a criminal offense under Section 264.1 of the Criminal Code. It involves knowingly uttering, conveying, or causing a person to receive a threat to:
Cause death or bodily harm to any person; Burn, destroy, or damage real or personal property”
I claim no great expertise in the law, but in my single class on Business Law in Engineering, this issue was discussed.
Come on by GYMmy…got lots of goodies for geriatric losers like you.
Don’t forget your walker…
And whatever NME666/GYM contributes financially to SDA (the only plausible explanation why he is allowed to post here) I will double to facilitate deplatforming.
Money talks, GYMmy walks.
in all seriousness rev1318 you need to set aside your digital access device.
just saying.
l have a strangely high batting average for sensing things at times,
ie l do NOT pretend or claim to be ‘clairvoyant’, but rather *at times* accurately
sense what’s coming. for your sake stand down.
Pretty quiet now GYMmy you useless piece of excrement. One can only hope that the most excruciatingly painful form of colon rectal cancer takes you from this mortal coil. Slowly. You are a shit stain of human being and should have been suffocated at birth. Sadly, your parents unwillingness to see you promptly as the utter waste of DNA that you are and cast you from a high peak is their eternal shame. Eternal. Shame. As are you.
For once and for all, STFU GYM.
Someone made a career ending decision.
👍
All this idle speculation is merely more BS.
It’s TRUMP, you idiots! He’s invading Shitholistan!!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!
The Repubs won’t allow it; all the Canadian idiots would vote Dementocrat.
obviously I wish the best to all the victims and their families.
That being said, what kind of retarded leader or organization does live fire training where there are active gas wells, and in this kind of wind ?
We don’t even drive loaded grain trucks over certain buried utility lines in our yards if we can avoid it. And we certainly dont smoke outside, let alone play with guns or fire in wind like this
“what kind of retarded leader or organization does live fire training where there are active gas wells, and in this kind of wind ?”
What kind of retarded leader or organization does live fire training with dry prairie grass in this kind of wind? The army has volumes of stupid regulations covering every unlikely event. They like their trained seals to clap, not to think. Incidentally they brag that they do the opposite.
These soldiers, they’ve been badly burned by incompetence and promoted imbecility ; DEI, Blarney Carney… This is the grand summation of Canada today. A tragedy. Horribly burned young people. All of them. Lives destroyed.
Canadian youth need to realize that they’re all frogs in the same pot.
Truthseeker has her take.

NY Post needs better research or spell checker. “Wainwright in Albert”
https://nypost.com/2026/10/18/world-news/canadian-military-forced-to-parachute-troops-into-base-after-gas-explosion-fire-left-at-least-7-dead/?utm_campaign=iphone_nyp&preferred_app=nypost&utm_source=pasteboard_app
This is Trump’s work. This is start of the American invasion of Canada.
Mark Carney’s in Alberta and the first person CBC interviews for reaction. David McGuinty (Min. Def) has landed in Alberta. Rosemary Barton was already in Alberta to “cover the referendum “. My goodness, we haven’t seen this many from the Ottawa political tribe in Alberta since ??? Maybe since McMurray burned. Does this seem like a manufactured event to rouse national loyalty?
I believe the PM of Brookfield returned to Ottawa after remarks in Edmonton late on Friday, or early Saturday, and his remarks on this tragedy this AM were from Ottawa. There are no entries to his itinerary for Saturday, so I’m guessing.

L – If Alberta loves the military, then rescuing them from the claws of the Ottawa panda, would be an act of “true patriot love”.
Is the Wainwright base tragedy due to degradation forced on them by the Carney/Trudeau Liberal regime, since 2015? That question will haunt the minds of thankful and thoughtful Canadians for as long as such persons exist.
Independence offers the only path to rebuild a trust society, where competence and true Canadian values can survive. The covenant of our ancestors, with our ancestors guides us through tempests to still waters.
Cheap shot
The news from Wainwright is scant. We have no solid information disclosing cause, exact location within CFB or the number of injuries, where those injured were taken.
The big 4 MSM in Canada, CBC, CTV, Global, and AP all blame this on “fire” and an explosion.
Nobody questions where the fire came from.
“I am all for treating the situation in Wainwright carefully, however, when an American base is attacked resulting in similar casualties, we receive information far faster than this. It has been nearly 24 hours. If you want to control the spread of misinformation: share the facts.”
