  1. OPP = credibility = 0. And what makes this political armed force any different than Hitler’s brown shirts?

  2. Why is this “Unbelievable”?
The Liberal left has been pushing western nations into Socialized Police States for over a century, now they’re making some serious headway in North America.
Democracies whether Representative or Direct are not the historical norm of human civilizations, they need to be won and then maintained by free thinking, like minded citizens of moral character.
We lost that battle a little over 40 years ago.

  3. Remember how effective the OPP was/is in Caledonia! Liberal Police Force – great value for money. Disband!

  4. The people of Ontario have a huge problem, they love lies, scandals, corruption. They repeatedly vote for the party that has taken them to have not status with green energy, exorbitant and increasing hydro rates and suck ups to the big unions to hold onto power.
We are a bankrupt police state, paint us red, big thanks to our capital Toronto.

  5. Remember when you were taught by your mother and father to run to a policeman when you were in trouble?
Who do we run to now?

  6. here is my letter to the OPPA: oppa@oppa.ca
I will forgo the usual Dear Sir/Madam salutation.
I served the people of this province for 27 years as a member of three police forces, including the OPP. From the day I joined until the day I retired I was very conscious of one thing: the guys and girls working in the private sector (for wages and benefits far less than I enjoyed) paid my salary. I realized that the countless hundreds of thousands of workers who got a government cheque like I did would have starved without the taxes that were pried from the wallets of these ordinary working folks.
And now here you are, with all the self-serving sanctimony you can muster, promoting the lie that the platform of the Progressive Conservative Party – which recognizes the wage disparity and the untenable ratio between public and private sectors – poses some kind of a “scary” threat to Ontario. Nothing could be farther from the truth.
You swore an oath to serve and protect the citizens of this province with honesty and integrity, and instead, you are displaying nothing but dishonesty, greed and cowardice. You have disgraced yourselves and your profession. Your dishonest position will ultimately work to the disadvantage of the officers you purport to represent and the public you are supposed to serve. I am so glad I am no longer associated with the OPP.
    Yours truly,

  7. Time to disband the OPP. But the $64K question is how to walk back public service unions.

  8. The OPP will be moderating tonight’s debate in place of Steve Paiken.
And I’d bet a doughnut that the various OPP investigations into Kathleen Wynne’s scandals are on the up and up.

  9. The OPP have done NO different than the nurses or teachers unions. All three are advertising to vote anything but conservative.
Reducing 100,000 civil servants will bring the public service workforce to 2009 employment levels.
    2009…. how will we survive?

  10. Hudak wrote a white paper a couple of years ago stating an intention to make Ontario a ‘right to work’ province. He walked that back since then, probably to avoid an election battle with the unions. That didn’t work to well, so I guess it’s time to counter attack again.

  11. Union monopolies, fascist/crony economics, police state pugnacity and deep government corruption – yep, Onterrible has all the trappings of a banana republic in the making – may as well make it official, get the zombie hordes out to the polls with fear monger propaganda. One more term of the current kleptocracy should finish this province off for good – into equalization serfdom – at least in that reliant state Alberta can say STFU or we cut off the pogey and walk away from the whole commie slag heap the east has become.
Off topic – both the OPP and RCMP suffer from politicization and partisan influence brokering – not to mention their unhealthy attitude toward civil rights and legal constraint. Both forces are rife with “political brass” who ensure political agendas play out in enforcement policies. (Fantino is a product of this ethical meat grinder) Police reform stands up there with law reform as the critical issues needed to escape the collapse of the nation into an authoritarian synarchy.

  12. It doesn’t matter walking anything back. The public sector unions are always going to be opposed to the PCs.

  13. I agree, it was a waste of his time, and he should have stuck to it all along. Whoever advised him to back track should be fired.

  14. If you think this is bad wait until the federal campaign in 2015. The hyenas in the grass will come out at that point. There are a lot of them.

  15. It’s time for criminal charges to be laid against the head of the OPP Police Association and the Chief. Section 13 of the Police Services Act is very clear and specific on the limitations on what police officers are allowed to express their views upon; ANY comments concerning political parties are prohibited.
This should be a close and shut case; but in the cesspool of the Ontario Bar Associations, are there any lawyers willing to pursue the case (and risk their sinecures with the Liberal government)?
Truly, Ontario is rapidly descending into Third World levels of corruption and kleptocracy.

  16. I trust we all remember this wonderful bit from the 2006 federal election:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68toCAiPIjo
It’s not complicated. The Liberals were simply describing what they themselves would do if they got desperate. It should be pretty clear by now; a vote for the Liberals IS a vote for fascism.

  17. It used to be that police served the public good. Now though, they serve themselves. It starts in the recruit training. They aren’t taught to be respectful to the public, they are taught that the public are their opponents. They are not fighting for us, they are FIGHTING us. This is what I have been seeing and hearing from members and former members of most police forces.
They aren’t out for our good, they are out for their own good. Time to stop this garbage hard.

  18. Their should be more options for communities to lighten the costs of policing, by allowing more volunteer community policing efforts and reducing the numbers of police required.

  19. that don’t work ma boy, it’s been tried and was a mizzerable failure. Community pohleesing attracts the same brain dead wannabees as pohleesing does, and most cops are LIVs who luv the “authority” that it and the gun gives them

  20. Good for you Jamie. Great letter, short and very much to the point.
Knight 99, you are right, this is not unbelievable. The politicization of our police forces began some time ago and has become quite apparent lately. Think about Caledonia and High River.
I did not think I would ever see the day that our police forces would be telling people how to vote. I thought we left this sort of thing behind when our families left the Soviet Union.

  21. Yeah good luck with that, both the PC’s and Liberals did a bang up job making it more expensive by forcing towns and cities to have “on call” services that they may not need. Which caused all those small town police services to dry up, unless they got lucky to strike a deal with a neighboring town.
An example: Aylmer “rents” everything but frontline policing from London and Woodstock. Woodstock rents divers from London, and TPS from K/W. If they didn’t they’d be in breach of the PSA, this of course is what killed Ingersoll’s police service they couldn’t get a deal on anything from anyone. So now they have the OPP, who are never around.
Anyway, charges do need to be laid against the OPPA. But $20 says they were smart enough to use a non-political person to formulate the ads and run with it, which skirts S13. The politics is the reason why I didn’t become a P/O, and was absolutely disgusted after my interviews with Toronto, K/W and London.

  22. Ontario is done. Stick a fork in it. When enough of the swing vote is on
the government dime, you just can’t win. These people DON’T CARE about the
fiscal state of the province. They get their union guaranteed wage increases,
and their pay scale increases as they move up the ladder, and their defined
benefit pensions. They DON’T CARE about anyone else. Hudak grossly overestimated
the appetite for fiscal reform. He believes people should be cognizant of, and care
about the fact that Ontario is on a fiscal precipice. How will the Libs magically
balance the budget in 2017/18? They have no plan other than to stay in power
and keep spending. Without drastic cuts (ala Drummond, who they summarily ignored),
it CAN’T BE DONE. Last one out, turn out the lights please…..

  23. ‘Career’ firefighters are in on it, too. The IAFF is a big ‘progressive’ supporter(Lib/NDP) at the federal level, being part of the CLC, so they are probably funneling money to the provincial parties.
I think that the PC’s are doing a poor job getting their message out, but at the same time the province is being stifled by the GTA, the South West and to a lesser extent, Ottawa.
The whole situation is sad. I love where I live. I’m sitting at the family cottage as I type this, worried about what the future holds. How much is enough for these political parasites?

  24. I have long believed that public workers should be barred from voting. Civic workers would not vote in civic elections, provincial employees would not vote in civic or provincial elections, and federal workers would not vote at all except in national referendums.
A public worker, or a group of public workers, are by definition “the government”. They will always vote for their own self-interests, often to the direct detriment of the public in general.
Those who are agents of public policy should have little or no hand in crafting said policy unless they are directly elected by the public to do so.

  25. When the province collapses and the rioting starts, the OPP will be the guys with the guns, truncheons, tasers, pepper spray and kevlar vests. Won’t that be a nice look.
    Uniformed double crossers and cowards.

  26. The OPPA has essentially announced that they are Wynne’s own personal police force. Ontario is now a police state.
I don’t think that’s overstating it at all. The OPPA has just indicated how every investigation into the activities of the Premier’s office — on the gas plants, the Ornge air ambulance, and whatever else is being investigated — will end: there will be no indication of wrong doing.
It will be interesting to see just how far this goes.

  27. The first thing that should happen is, make the unions collect their own dues as opposed to the dues being deducted from the paycheck at the source.
The governor of Wisconsin did this with of course union opposition.
The point being that when a person has to go to the treasurer to pay, they may not be and will not be keen on doing it.
Don’t know how it turned out in Wisconsin.

  28. In conversation with my neighbors in Haldimand, the consensus seems to be that the Liberals will win, things will go along as they are with some acceleration of the public sector looting, and then it will all hit the wall at 200 mph and burst into flame.
Figure it’ll take ten years before it blows up like Russia.

  29. Just so ya know. The OPP officers who are escorting the blades for the windmills in Ontario are making $65 an hour on their days off.

  30. Too right.
Having the parasites decide what is “good” for the host is insane.
If a person is on the take from the public purse, they are in conflict of interest when voting.
If they demand a say, they are more than welcome to resign and join the taxpayers.
Strange how the old voting rules are revealed as ever more sensible as society decays.
Who knew that allowing the takers to vote would have them voting themselves goodies, to hell with the taxpayer.
Oh right our great-grandparents knew , but their children thought they knew better.
    In the name of “Fairness”?
Want to blow up government systems?
Its simple, pay everyone their gross wage/salary make it the individuals responsibility to deal with: Revenue Canada/Provincial Revenuers, Workers Comp, Payroll tax,Canada Pension,Unemployment Insurance, the entire host of regulated fees and “responsibilities” that employers currently endure.
Let the worker have to face these thefts openly and the pot will burn.
As for the parasites on our payroll.. sorry you do not pay taxes. The larger thieves are just lying to you,as to your actual rate of pay.
Those payroll deductions, just a shell game.

  31. Time to repaint the cruisers, deleting that old-fashioned “To serve and protect.” Perhaps the new slogan could be “To Self-Serve and Protect the Politicians we take our orders from.”
I’m awfully tired of so-called “public servants” who think the public is there to serve them. Let’s fire them all and start over.

  32. Nah way dude. All your logic are belong to us. This is about removing the main issue at stake here. Self serving police and their greed, and the knowledge that they are the only anointed ones so “who you gonna call”. The system is ripe for this type of blackmail, obviously other policing options that cull their numbers should be on the table. These options may not relieve the “Community pohleesing attracts the samesame brain dead wannabees as pohleesing does” that you so elegantly stated, but it does relieve the burden on the taxpayers wallet, and an option come collective bargaining time. We cool now ma boy.

  33. That thought became more than crystal clear last year in High River Ab. When the cops are kicking down your doors, who do you call? (or run too…)

  34. This is disturbing.
    It was said by Churchill:
“A man of twenty who is not a Liberal has no heart but at forty is still a Liberal has no head.”
It seems a natural progression but I find my respect, for the Police, deteriorating as I mature/age.
This process has ended….I likely can mature/age much more but my respect, for the Police, also cannot deteriorate much more either.
    Time for a cull.

  35. Very disappointed in Mr. Hudak backing off Right to Work. This is exactly why. Union wages being used continue a vicious anti-tax-payer cycle.

  36. Not surprising at all. The police are simply petty bureaucrats. The only difference is that they have guns, powerful unions and qualified immunity, so they are far more dangerous than your average bureaucrat.
I find it unbelievable when conservatives are constantly surprised the police are not their friends….

  37. The Ontario Liberals are currently leading by a few points in most polls. If the Police Association of Ontario is able to help eke out a win for their preferred party, this will embolden them. Expect more, not less. If tyranny is rewarded, expect more tyranny.
They’ve brought up the notion that “American TEA Party” ideas are infiltrating the Ontario PC’s. Exposing themselves as a Police Association fully in support of BIG GOVERNMENT. Who do they think will be paying for this? This tactic is solely for the enrichment of their own pensions and gain. No different from the eternal threat of teachers going on strike every september, of not enough nurses… it’s something that the Progressive Conservatives fell for repeatedly this past decade in Alberta. Our provincial debt? It’s nothing compared to the train wreck that Ontario will be. Those public sector unions that support this, will all need to be rewarded.
“Enjoy the decline” h/t Cappy Cap.
    SUN Tv’s coverage of this…
How comfortable will Ezra Levant be covering an event on the sidewalks of Toronto in 2015? Not very I’d guess.. Oh I know he’ll put on a brave face and say he won’t back down, but you’ll see him glance at the police standing near to him and we’ll hope the cameras don’t malfunction at this very moment. Perhaps the SUN Tv folks should issue a blanket apology the day after the election, maybe something starting with, “We’re sorry we told the truth about you, we won’t do it again during your future campaigns, if any”.

  38. Dats a nice constituency youse got dare, be a real shame if somtin bad was ta happin to it. But if youse was open ti da idea ah votin aginst dah PC candidate weez woud make shur youse was ya know protectd aginst just such an eventouality. I trust yous will do wats in yers (and our) best interests.

  39. Kate’s quip, “This is unbelievable” …
It’s always be understood that public service unions support those that reward them best. That the Police Association of Ontario is saying out loud what they’ve always thought, is the surprise.
What were they thinking? … saying this out loud…

  40. The first paragraph was truncated by a (percent) character.
Should read: It should be remembered that it only takes 8 percent
of the Union (political activists abusers) to tarnish the other
92 percent that are diligent honest workers.

  41. Nice going OPPA. You just destroyed what little trust was left in the OPP after the farce that is the Caledonia stand off.
Might as well take the OPP crest off the door of the cruiser and paint on pictures of Chairman Chow and comrade Whynne in their best Che poses.

  42. Not just Toranna. In my Conservative area all the Catholics vote Liberal, regardless of who is running or what scandals surround the party. Always have and always will.
There will be Christians and atheists casting Liberal votes, but not en bloc.

  43. What’s necessary now is to totally disband all of Canada’s Gestapo wannabe’s and replace them with real police who are independent of statist politicians. Over the years I’ve noticed a marked deterioration of the quality of police and I’m sure that most of the current members of police forces would be happy to serve as concentration camp guards were they so ordered by their political masters. I’ve heard from former RCMP that new recruits are rejected if they demonstrate any tendency for independant thought and what the Gestapo is looking for are individuals who will follow any orders without question and have only loyalty to fellow Gestapo members. If TV had been around in the 1940’s, I’m sure that Auschiwtz guards would have run similar ads extolling their benefit to the local economy and why their jobs were essential.
This ad should be all the reason Hudak would need to create a new campaign policy of disbanding the OPP and starting over again. However his weltanschauung is more in line with those of the sheeple rather than what one needs to stop the descent into tyranny. What’s really needed is a Canadian TEA party and it’s now become clear why the Canadian totalitarians are so obsessed with disarming the population. This is not going to end well.

  44. I’m not sure that the hyenas could be more out than they are already. They are focused and relentless, and they smell blood.
