Today the Environmental Protection Agency released a long-anticipated rule proposal that seeks by 2030 to reduce America’s carbon dioxide emissions 30% from 2005 levels. (The full proposal can be found here.)
The primary mechanism for the reduction will be tough emissions limits on coal-fired power plants. The effect of the rule will most likely be the dramatic expansion of natural gas as a fuel for power generation. When burned, gas emits just half the carbon of coal.
States will have until June 30, 2016 (with the potential for some extensions) to come up with a plan on how to implement the rule and reduce their average emissions per megawatt-hour of electricity. If they refuse to play ball — as Texas Gov. Rick Perry has threatened — the EPA says it will impose its own plan.

More bad news? Costs. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce figures the plan could scotch $50 billion a year in GDP and prevent the creation of more than 220,000 jobs per year. The hit to household disposable income would be more than $550 billion a year.
Between this and state fracing bans the rolling blackouts should be epic…
It’s useful to remember that, long before the IRS, it was the EPA which was weaponized to be used against opponents of the American Left. If this waking nightmare can be brought to an end, it will involve disbanding the EPA. I would suggest the employment of German Shepherd dogs for some of this task.

Just build 30% more coal plants. Then each can generate 30% less.
The utilities should all get together and organize a general strike. For about a two week period at the hight of summer they should go off line. Maybe then people will see that it is like to have to live without electricity,either because it not there, or you can no longer afford it.
The watermelons at the EPA really hate their country, don’t they? The electrical system was working at full capacity in the Northeast during the polar vortex this winter; there was no more electricity to be had. The EPA is now making rules that will close down even the cleanest of coal-fired powerplants and at the same time is opposing fracking for natural gas to replace the coal with. There will be blackouts when this takes effect so conveniently after the next presidential election. There will be deaths because of this due to heat stroke when people cannot use air conditioning and due to cold in the winter, not to mention housefires when people use emergency candles.
The EPA needs to be taken out behind the barn and killed with an axe.
And they can kiss their Senate seats in coal-producing states goodbye, as well.

Apparently the new USA ambassador to Canada is bringing his ‘carbon’ wisdom to his new job. He will inform the Canadian minions on how to best implement the ‘vision’.
Natural gas is easily transported/distributed and is best used in smaller or mobile configurations, or anywhere that requires small independent users. Coal is best used in large stationary plants. To NOT use coal as a power generator is simply insane.
Not to worry Al, with all of the formerly employed people out of work, not many will be able to afford the new and improved/green energy anyhow! Should be quite a show when the unemployed and the EPA come together, so to speak.

The mediocracy seems not to understand that Canada is a bit player in the coal generated electricity game. Hint: when you “interpret” Canada will be under pressure now to follow the US lead, insert China for Canada, you dumb asses.
Jimmy Carter tried something similar with natural gas for different reasons. The US is jettisoning coal when this will do nothing to deal with skyrocketing “emissions” from China in particular (not the miniscule contribution from the oil sands), thus affecting her energy diversification/options:

Less demand for coal in the USA means cheaper market coal for China. Cheaper energy for China means more jobs for them and more poverty for America, but that’s the great Democrat plan..create a class of dependents that keep voting for hopey-changey!
What will be interesting is for those states which derive most of their power from hydro….like Washington, where our Governor is practically wetting himself secure in the knowledge he can pop the gas tax to over a buck a gallon. He can then point to the EPA and claim he “had to do it. It WAS MANDATED!!”
This is nothing but declared war on the middle class, an absolute money grab, and a big ole middle finger to working families.

According to a story in Tuesday’s Calgary Herald an outright majority of Americans support the EPA moves. Repubs, dems, indies all support according to the story. Citizens of coal states support. Apparently there is also a “growing” majority of Americans who believe climate change is a serious problem.

That story is bunk…The looney tunes controlled both the House & and the Senate between 2008-2012. They couldn’t get Cap & Trade
past the Democrat controlled Senate. Why does anyone think that a vote for stupid would not end a politicians career.
The 2014 Election will be a test of the EPA going without Congressional support. The States of looney-tunes hope to setup their own system and have the Courts Mandate all the States.
