Was Mitt Romney Right About Everything?

Some people definitely think so:

“I think about the campaign every single day, and what a shame it is who we have in the White House,” said Spencer Zwick, who worked as Romney’s finance director and is a close friend to his family. “I look at things happening and I say, you know what? Mitt was actually right when he talked about Russia, and he was actually right when he talked about how hard it was going to be to implement Obamacare, and he was actually right when he talked about the economy. I think there are a lot of everyday Americans who are now feeling the effects of what [Romney] said was going to happen, unfortunately.”

  1. Thing is, Romney made so few definitive statements that it’s impossible to say whether he was right or wrong. ‘He’s not even wrong’ comes to mind. He also made Romneycare, the original Obamacare. Romney sucked I’m glad he lost.
Romney was also on the ‘illegal immigration gonna destroy America!’ idiot-bandwagon and that’s a load of crock.

  2. Whatever LAS, your side won the election based on a pack of lies. It is over, you really don’t need to keep repeating them.

  3. One can only hope that those, (‘unfortunately’), now feeling the negative effects of the current economy are ALL Obama supporters.
    I do so love irony.

  4. Romney had to fight an uphill battle for sure. In the Republican Party you are handicapped because they have a large contingent of people occupying the far right. Republicans are middle, middle-right and far-right and keeping all of those factions happy is very hard, so there is necessarily a lot of dancing around by anyone who hopes to get that nomination. What I liked about Romney was that he was independently wealthy and not beholden to the various forces that attempt to pull the strings behind the scenes on U.S. policy. I also think he had a lot of integrity and smarts. What I like about Romney losing is that they will not be able to blame the Republicans when WWIII starts.

  5. “What I like about Romney losing is that they will not be able to blame the Republicans when WWIII starts. ”
Shirely you jest,LindaL. Just two nights ago,James Carville was blaming the Syrian dust up on BUSH!!!! Man. I wish I had been voted out of ANY office(including dog catcher) over 5 years ago,and still had the power Bush does!

  6. Yes, but by being right he was also mean because people don’t want to hear the truth. You know, progressive logic.

  7. … I think there are a lot of everyday Americans who are now feeling the effects of what Rove and the rest of the GOP elites did to pimp out Romney, for their own crony capitalistic interests, all the while alienating their core base of supporters. Rove et al wouldn’t listen to the base of the GOP when it said what was going to happen, unfortunately.”

  8. A reading of David Stockman’s magnum opus The Great Deformation will disabuse you of any warm feelings you may have about Romney, notwithstanding that he’s a nice and decent man.
Über crony capitalist; a FED made man (with apologies to the Mafia).
If you want to continue believing that the Repubs did not contribute even more to the destruction of the American economy, don’t read this book.

  9. I don’t know if Romney was “right” about everything but he certainly was right on the important things. That’s enough for me. Putin will hand Obama his ass on a platter at the G20 because he can. And many, like me, will approve. Four years of on the job training and his performance is worse than when he started. Worst President in U.S. history by any standard of results. Certainly he’s changed me from an passive observer to an activist….. and that is saying a lot.

  10. That was a great quote G. The problem in a sentence! I would have voted for the Champion of the Constitution and the protector of Civil Liberties – Ron Paul. The media were rude and crude to this honorable man. They all should be held accountable for that, IMO! Who was filling their pockets? hummm

  11. Of course Mitt Romney was right, about public policy. But some issues are just too important to lose; the last US Presidential election was too important to lose, and he lost it. He never gave any sense of its importance. He even said that he thought that the Obamites had the best interests of the US to heart.
Romney also was one of the Establishment Republicans who did what they could to suppress the Tea Party. He had the issue of Benghazi, not to mention Fast and Furious. But he was too “nice” to use those issues.
See what “being nice” got the US. See what Romney’s “being nice” got us all.
May Mitt Romney rot in Hell. We should never lose an opportunity to remind him of what he lost; and of his shame in losing. An honorable man would have done the honorable thing.

  12. Of course Romney was right. He was right about pretty much everything he said. We knew that at the time.
Problem was, he didn’t say much that was very different from Obama. Main difference between the two is that Romney was serious about what he said and Barry is a saboteur. EVERYTHING Barry says is a lie, one way or another. We knew that at the time too.
The USA doesn’t need a guy like Romney, a good manager, a guy who knows how to get things done, a guy who can work the system and make it perform. They need a guy who will starve it to death. They need a guy who will cut government income so much that the whole thing comes apart like a sand castle. The only thing getting funded should be debt service and boots, bullets and bacon for the troops. All else gets cut.
Example, DC police have been ordered to arrest anyone found with empty ammunition cases in their car. Or in their pants cuff, as sometimes happened to me when I went to the range. $1000 fine and/or one year in jail for empty brass, boys and girls. Barry “The Saboteur” Obama at work. See it on Drudge right now.

  13. Was Mitt Romney right about everything?
    Yes.
    Did it make any difference?
    No.
Repeat after me Repubs, Nobody named Mitt is ever going to be elected President.

  14. Yeah, Phantom.
The dork threw the election just like the dork before him.
Romney is a living breathing symbol of the the forces that have wrought irreversible damage to the American economy. DEBT and mountains of Monopoly money and a phony prosperity.
And you’re right about what is needed.
See the quick reversal of the 1920 depression via a 50% shrinkage of government spending.
But as Stockman points out, what needs to be done now is politically and institutionally impossible.

  15. Ah yes…but ‘told you so’ isn’t anywhere near as good as ‘convinced you so’.
And sometimes(as in England in the thirties) the sky (or maybe the bottom) just has to fall before people look up and away from their distractions.

  16. The US is on it’s death bed! I shudder to think what the next half decade might bring but it will be at least partly because of the misinformation dealt out by the MSM. Their hatred of anything and everything even remotely right of center (and logical) is stunning. Their support of such an inept leader in the oval office is equally stunning.
My greatest fear is how the collapse is going to impact the rest of the free world.

  17. I am glad Mitt didn’t win – he dodged a bullet! Think of the mess Obutthole ‘inherited from George Bush’. Think of the mess the next guy will inherit for Obama.
One is tempted to feel sorry for the Americans but they NEED this. They need to get the gov’t they deserve good and hard, the way we did when we elected Jean Poutine Cretin and his pasty faced pals.
Stupid people only learn one way! Billary for 2016!

Obama on Verge of Historic Rebuke Over Syria
“Various news organizations are contacting members of Congress to see where they stand on the attack authorization. While each outlet has different numbers, the ominous sign for the administration is that all of them show the “no” votes outpacing the “yes” votes by a more than a 3-to-1 margin.
Most alarming for the administration may be The Washington Post whip count.
As of Thursday afternoon, it showed 183 representatives either declaring their intention to vote against authorization, or leaning against it. That compares to just 20 members who have stated they favor authorizing the strike.”
It would appear the “Obama-Nation(tm)” would have more luck mustering support for the UN resources in the Congo where 5-6 million have perished in the quest for coltan because everybody needs an “Obamaphone”…
But of course another genocide in Africa would be racist…
    Cheers
    Hans Rupprecht, Commander in Chief
    1st Saint Nicolaas Army
    Army Group “True North”

  19. Glenfilthie you are so, so right. If Romney had won, the screaming and hair pulling by the pseudo-journalist in this Country would have been to much to take. Now they have to live with what they voted in. Some consolation I guess.

  20. Sadly you are right. What’s worse guys like me arrive in our 70’s with 50+ years of hard work behind us, a pile big enough to see us out the door and some mook who didn’t do any of that is at my door with his hand out “You have some and I don’t, it’s not fair”.

  21. I am puzzled by all the people dumping on Romney for losing when the voting was rigged. Romney did a decent job — but it just was not enough. Actually he put a lot of effort into trying to turn that ship around when the odds of doing so were never very good.

  22. Multidimensional voter fraud had much to do with the re-election of 0bama-lest we forget the $oros owned voting machines, the no ID requirement in most states, and the immigration free ride guaranteeing millions of constitutionally illegal votes. Yes, the awe inspired blind worshipers still existed, yet it’s very doubtful the number were anywhere near what they were in 2008.
Given the recent revelations of the extent of stored data on us all, including vast decryption abilities, coupled with 0bama’s hiring of a small army of Predictive Modelers/Data Miners/Analysts in 2012 no doubt helped to seal his victory. Then there is his close relationship with the Hollywood and the Entertainment Industry Foundation, which not only funded him, but ensured his pet political causes bombarded prime time TV in countless episode plots and PSA’s since 2008.
The best one can expect from a dictator is the illusion of choice/democracy-that’s how they roll. Let’s hope this dictatorship ends with him and Moochele fleeing, Nicolae and Elena Ceaușescu style, taking Jarret, Holder, and others (insert your own suggestions) with him.
Putin is just as bad, if not worse. We’re in the middle of a cold war between two sociopaths ego’s. The cold war will turn hot, very hot, if the USA injects itself into the Syrian civil war. The last definitive victory the USA had over Russia was 1980, at the XIII Olympic games held in Lake Placid, NY; where the USA hockey team beat the Russians for the Gold Medal. The USA will need a greater miracle than what occurred in Lake Placid to win this time around-there is no home team advantage for either side. The real questions are why does 0bama want to attack Syria? What is the real motivation behind this seeing how there was no concern for the dead Americans who cried out for help, yet received none in Benghazi.
We’re not being told the truth by 0bama or Putin, both have proven they are pathological liars.
Agree with the wisdom of Palin, let Allah sort it out.

  23. Romney was chosen to carry forward the continuity in policy which Obama had driven for 4 years – rep – RINO all the way. dead loss as a GOP. GOP keeps fielding RINO candidates, red state voters and Tea Party voters will stay home from the polls.
I’m hoping if the GOP does not purge itself of red republicans, special interest pimps and sinecured parasites, It’s going down for the 3rd time. True constitutional conservatives have abandoned the GOP for the Tea party – time the Tea Party fielded candidates

  24. Obamugabe will either blame the GOP for everything
or bribe RINOs with extra patronage as per usual or
do both. He has their number and knows their culture.

  25. WRONG………..
Romney gave the people of Mas what they wanted, voted for and still have it. They can forces changes to it or drop it.
With O-dumber care, none of that can happen.
Most of all, look as days go by and we learn how this mess what created.
I’m pretty sure when the bill was put forth in Mas, they knew what was IN it. Unlike us.

  26. I’m hoping that Sarah Palin runs for the GOP nomination.
IF she loses to Jeb Bush or fatboy, I could see Palin forming the 3rd party with support perhaps from R.Paul and others.
That said, IMO the GOP NEEDS to nominate Sarah Palin. That is America’s best hope.JMO

  27. Also, a bit off topic…
Is Newt going to take another run at POTUS?
Perhaps he is; as he is the new co-host of “Crossfire” on CNN (opposite the commie Booker I think) premiering on about SEpt 16 on CNN.
Interestingly enough, the time I saw Newt on CNN speaking his views, he got a surprisingly positive reaction from the folks, mostly black, in the studio audience. It’s not that Newt has changed his tune I think; it’s that this is likely the first time these folks had heard Newt’s opinion without the MSM filter. Newt is gonna run. Count on it!
