Literally too. Foreign Policy’s “100 Top Global Thinkers 2012” (for quite a few of whom the word “thinker” would not first spring to mind). The world did not need more Canada this year–though maybe Mark Carney next.

Slick Willy? A thinker? A stinker perhaps, and certainly a dinker – but a thinker?
Now that’s funny.
Absolutely, Jamie; I decided that the list had no validity whatsoever when I saw that Slick Willy and the Hildebeest were at number three.
Actually, a truly serious thinker doesn’t get noticed by the likes of Foreign Policy.
In any list of 100 people, there would obviously be some with whom one agrees. What about the rest?
The adulation of Obama is..well, they call Obama ‘brainy’? And declare that he’s a ‘cautious realist’? Obama lives in a fictional realm and hasn’t set foot in reality since he was ten years old.
How about their praise of Paul Krugman, whose idea of a good economic plan is to increase taxes, thereby disabling the business capacity of the nation, and handing it out in more and more stimulus grants, which are used for consumer needs not investment.
And George Soros, whose agenda is socialism, with Himself as the Ruler?
James Hansen, that ardent supporter of AGW?
Piketty and Saez, who consider that 83% tax on the rich would solve all economic problems, ignoring that removing this Investment and Production money from the nation would implode its productive capacities.
I feel somewhat honoured as my picks were identical to those in ET’s post, except for Piketty and Saez, whose names I did not recognize.
I’m not too sure what to think of this list. A list with Obambam, Cheney, Rand, Gates, Ryan, slick Willie and Soros on it certainly has one scratching their head. Where is Moe Strong?
Little problem with “autocomplete” there Mark?
(for quite a few of whom the work “thinker” would not first spring to mind)
Oops, changed.

#1 not a thinker but a heroine.
#2 doesn’t belong
#3&4 Hillarity!!!!!!

For the most part, “thinker” would seem to be defined-ability to spend other peoples money.
We need far fewer “thinkers” in the world, and more doers.
I stopped reading when I came to this gem :
“At home, Obama has done far more to lift the faltering U.S. economy out of the doldrums ….”
billions of people on this planet and he is one of the top thinkers ? No wonder the world is in such a mess. I may go back just to see if Nancy Palosi , Harry Reid and Joe Biden are on the list too. Between the four I doubt if they could run a Hot Dog stand. Great thinkers….heh.
As you said, “all over the map”. Some choices I agree some I don’t. All said and done, just another opinion piece quickly forgotten….
What a crock.
Not even an honourable mention for those brilliant Ontarians who elected, re-elected, and re-elected The Dildo.
Slick Willy and Shrillary are schemers not thinkers. James Hansen is a con man, profiting very handsomely after cooking NASAs books to ‘prove’ his point. George Soros is a philanthropist? He destroyed the pound for s#^!s, giggles and a huge profit and he is going to profit handsomely when the US economy collapses while under the control of Obama, whom he has supported. If knee-jerk socialist Barack Obama and knee-jerk Keynesian Paul Krugman are thinkers I’m the Queen of Dublin.
There are a few heroes/heroines, such as Aung San Suu Kyi on the list and a few thinkers such as Ryan and Zingales but there are too many big government, man made global warming believing nincompoops high on this list to take it seriously.
This is a publication that American scum buy face time. The editor did cite some world leaders but sociopths like the Gates, Obumbles and Klintons sprinkled among true humanitarians seems out of grotesquely place. Oh well corporate whore media marches on.

Did anybody make it past fake science slimeball James Hanson?
James Hanson?
Yeah…….that’s when I hit the BS button too…..
