This week I was in the US meeting with local business owners (we may buy one of their businesses). The unanimous complaint was that Americans are being paid not to work and drug use among these people is rampant. Putting these people back to work is not an option, but locals don’t want people from other communities coming in and “taking their jobs”. Big problem. Hard to solve.
Companies are working on that problem. Soon AI and robots will soon take over the sick and lazy.

A dozen years ago, I used up my unemployment benefits. Afterwards, since I wasn’t getting benefits, I was counted neither “in the workforce” nor “unemployed.”

But you notice how they lump “aging population” and “slowing pace of immigration” together? That is the standard way of hiding the truth because they don’t say which is the real driver. They pulled the same stunt when they tried to hide the fact that the “growth” of Canada’s GDP last month was the result of the higher oil prices.
As opposed to government spending which has been propping up the economy for the last decade plus.
Buddy, to be fair she has a point. Slowing immigration ( I have seen no evidence) will slow employment growth as you won’t need as many cops to curb their natural tendency twoard being scumbags. Expect air freshener sales to slow as well.
