I loved the set-up they had going with Columbo. His show came out as a 2 hour movie, and the way they were able to do that is because they rotated different shows (who also did a two hour movie format). McCloud, Banacek, MacMillian and Wife, The Snoop Sisters, and a bunch of others. That way, they had time to provide an unrushed story. And, it gave the producers time to polish up the show before release. I believe it was called “The Sunday Mystery Movie.” This was back in the 70’s which was still the analog antenna days. It was preceded by the Walt Disney Hour, back when Disney was producing some good stuff. Roy Disney (who took over for Walt) died in 1971, but the two men that took over had been long term executives under both Disney’s so proceeded much in the same fashion.
