Reader Tips

Tonight, to help us usher in the new year, throngs of proud Brits at Royal Albert Hall and in London’s Hyde Park sing rousing versions of Jerusalem, God Save The Queen, and Auld Lang Syne.
What a combo.
A big thanks to Kate, the nonpareil, for another year of superb blogging, and for providing a forum for so many interesting characters – you know who you are, you commenters you.
Happy New Years, everybody! Here’s wishing you and your families a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2012.

  1. Why in the hell would you watch QP? Seriously it’s just an exercise in frustration. It’d be ok if they said look we’re a liberal talk show and ran it like OReily does where he at least gets SOME people on who disagree with him. I’d watch that but that show is a complete circle jerk of stupidity.

  2. “Utility may cut off power to solar plant”
“Idaho Power plans to cut off electricity on Tuesday to plant in Pocatello, Idaho, that makes material for solar energy, because the factory owes $1.9 million in unpaid utility bills. The dispute is with Honolulu-based Hoku Scientific, Inc., which is backed by Chinese financing and enjoys federal and state incentives.
Officials for the utility said Idaho Power agreed to hold off until March on collecting the $1.8 million Hoku already owed, providing the company stayed current in its bills. It didn’t. That’s a telltale sign of trouble as thanks to hydroelectric plants and thermal energy, Idaho enjoys some of the lowest electric rates in the nation. The Associated Press reported the company’s stock now sells at “well below” $1 a share, down from a 52-week high of $3.24.”

  3. Despite Scott’s panning of CTV’s conversation with the PM I say it’s probably one of the best in terms of advancing our PM’s image. Why didn’t they do something like this before???

  4. Words of wisdom from Heather Malice’s latest unhinged “article”: “• Don’t assume the fringe is mainstream. I’m referring to news stories about people being arrested for baking their infants. Oh my god, this happened in Etobicoke? We must bring back orphanages! And the death penalty! Then you read more closely and it occurred in Arkansas or Mississippi where such acts are not unusual. If state residents are not baking their children, they’re boiling them. Furthermore, the parent is invariably sentenced, not to jail, but to parenting class. Keep your outrage local, please.”

I wonder what it means. Is it meant to be funny?

  5. gordinkneehill: “Happy New Year to Kate and all the regulars from Nicaragua.”
I didn’t know that SDA had regulars from Nicaragua. I mean, I knew this blog was read widely but didn’t realize it was read that widely! /sarc off
‘Hope you’re having fun in the sun, gordinkneehill. Here in Toronto, it’s pretty much grey skies, rain, and visible minority panhandlers being racist. 😉
