  1. Yeah I have seen the very same process underway here in Ontariario.
We used to say you need a permit to fart, apply for in triplicate and wait three weeks to get it.
McSquinty et al have changed all that:
Now the application is 10 pages long, you need to pass a background check, an environmental assessment, attend a 2-3 day shortcourse and pass, and then forword a certified cheque, money order/bankdraft…….time-frame indeterminant….
That’s nothing compared to getting clearance to construct livestock housing…..

  2. Thank the God of Capitalism that we were able to rid Canada of one more socialist last summer before our so called media made him into another Obamination and spun his lack of any political, financial etc, talent into 24 Sussex like they valiantly tried. California is a closer example of Greece and most of Europe to learn from, they get in the way of business and producers at every turn, let that be a lesson to our PM and Premiers of AB and Sask, someone who knows computers better than me should sent to Harper Redford and Wall that article, their entire administrations should read and absorb it. Get out of the way of business and it will create wealth, suck up to lefties and there will be no wealth other than for lefties, Ontario Manitoba BC Quebec and the maritimes are our up and coming Californias but there is still hope here in AB and SK.

  3. Come along and ride my green train.
    – will cost many times more to build than originally estimated
    – will take much longer than initially estimated to build
    – will provide far fewer jobs than originally estimated.
    – and probably will cost more to ride than auto, bus, or airplane. (my guess)

  4. “And the Cuban stopped and said, “How lucky you are? I had someplace to escape to.”
    So had I.
It will take a little while to use up other peoples money, then, there is nothing.
A rich guy will come around a declares himself saviour. Will become dictator to satisfy the basic urges. repressed sex urges brought on by his mother’s breast feeding.
Isn’t that what certain wise guy said.
Regeardless of enything, it does not have to happen.
Everybody* knows what needs to be done. Today, there is no will. It maybe that will be forced and depending who is the force will have only one of two outcomes. Some serious pain over relatively short period of time to cure the ills of the “society” or totalitarian dictatorship that would last a long long time.
    Take your pick.
When I got into the army, it was rough as anybody with the experience knows,to handle it, there was a saying, “one can get used to a noose on ones neck”, it’s true, though you have to watch your step.

  5. “the hippies and the gay community were moving in on the old Republican establishments of San Francisco and Berkeley”
And that says it all. And no , Kate. I don’t want an earthquake to level Californicated.Let it slip into the slime of socialism on its own, hopefully very, very quickly,so that our political leeches may hopefully learn something! If not…wellllll…lots of food, dry powder, other essentials, and the balls to use such as needed.

  6. Used to be called the feudal system, now it’s called socialism.
Are we entering the next dark age?

  7. been coming to a Seattle near me for quite a while.. Slipped over the border in broad daylight. Took up residence in Victoria a few years back.. ROC.. please set-up border patrols on the Alberta B.C. border, to save yourselves from the Christy Clark Government. Seriously..Border Patrols.

  8. The future of California can be clearly seen in Tijuana. The rot is due to a lot more than just socialism. It will spread across the southern US like a plague. The American Dream is gone. Canadians who emulate that materialistically consumptive ‘rich and famous’ lifestyle should see this as a warning, but they probably won’t.

  9. Azatlan – where jobs are for non Americans and your copper lawn ornaments, train tracks, or any other stationary metal object mysteriously disappears in the night….

  10. I’ve been to Californy many times back in the 90’s and even then you could see the downward slide of a state with so much to offer. Now it isn’t on my “I’ll go visit if I have to” list. It’s not the land, sea or sky but the leftoid loons that have brought prosperity down and turned the land of dreams into a socialism experiment and shattered dreams.
Beautiful BC should pay heed as they are also wallowing in the loonie left socialistic urintopia.

Et al: old Indian word for yellow-belly voters.

  12. Nice to see an article that expounds reality instead of false platitudes.
There is only none real solution. Law & order , the deconstruction of government. Citizen control from socialist tyrants .
The police & courts are complicit with this madness. As we seen in Caledonia.
Its time to make socialism enemy #1. With all its tentacles plus its enablers.
Its time to charge these crooks , these robber barons of Utopian totalitarianism. Either that, or live in a ghetto with barbarians running your lives.

  13. Anyone else have the nagging feeling that this might turn into a rather unpleasant century for the West?

  14. Let’s see…California has had a Republican governor for 32 of the last 44 years; the United States has had a Republican POTUS for 28 of the last 40 years, and yet it’s all those goddamn left wingers that ruined not only California but the rest of the country? Hey, right wing assholes…time to take ownership of this mess.

  15. Iberia (predictably) said: “Hey, right wing assholes…time to take ownership of this mess.”
Yes, because California is SO run by conservatives with a policy of smaller government, less regulation, and lower taxes… its totally our fault.
Oh, and the Tea Party is racist, right? Don’t forget that part. And Chimpybushitler is a Nazi. Got it.
Tell me, do you ever get tired of talking out both sides of your mouth like that?

  16. I think there is a certain amount of truth to what you say. The truth is that when republicans were in charge they shouldn’t play nice. They should jail and purge every democrat they can, which they could easily do. But unlike the left they tend to play nice. Also, it doesn’t take long for leftists to do huge amounts of damage. Canada as a nation will never recover from Trudeau. Ontario still hasn’t recovered from Rae, and with what McGuintey is doing to the education and electrical systems in Ontario, we may never recover from him.

  17. EBD @ 9:15 asks “Anyone else have the nagging feeling that this might turn into a rather unpleasant century for the West?”
Yes. Islamist caliphate builders at the front and Soviet resurrectionists at the rear.

  18. Hey Phatom, they were run by the most conservative option available. Speaking from both sides of the mouth, indeed. For your type, there is never enough goose stepping.

  19. Iberia/Spain says:
“Let’s see…California has had a Republican governor for 32 of the last 44 years; the United States has had a Republican POTUS for 28 of the last 40 years, and yet it’s all those goddamn left wingers that ruined not only California but the rest of the country?”
    Nice try.
If the federal government could prevent a state from imploding, well then it would not be the United States of America, would it?
Worse, if a conservative governor could prevent a liberal Democratic legislature from disassembling the American Dream, then it would not be a representative government, would it?
And any attempt to prevent you from dissembling the facts would contravene the value that SDA brings to free free and open discourse, eh?
    Thank you for your input.
