Political considerations were raised repeatedly by company investors, Energy Department bureaucrats and White House officials.
The records, some previously unreported, show that when warned that financial disaster might lie ahead, the administration remained steadfast in its support for Solyndra.
The documents reviewed by The Post, which began examining the clean-technology program a year ago, provide a detailed look inside the day-to-day workings of the upper levels of the Obama administration. They also give an unprecedented glimpse into high-level maneuvering by politically connected clean-technology investors.

Vestas to close five wind turbine plants
Vestas, the Danish wind turbine manufacturer, said today it would close five production plants across Scandinavia and cut 3,000 jobs.
The group said the surge in demand for wind power it had hoped for in Europe had not materialised and it would have to shift production away from Denmark and Sweden towards Spain to protect profits.
It is closing four plants in Denmark and one in Sweden, including one in Viborg where it has been manufacturing since 1989. The factory moves follow Vestas’ decision to move production of turbines away from the UK last year, when it closed its Isle of Wight facility.

At least the rest of us will enjoy the bitter satisfaction of seeing the turds who voted for The Dildo getting what they voted for.
Jamie, the problem is that every present and future Ontario resident is going to be paying for the Dolt-on’s green energy program. The province is almost a quarter of a trillion dollars in debt and the Liberals are planning to borrow another $21billion this year and $20billion next year. A few more years of Daltonomics and Ontario could owe more than half of what the federal government owes.
How much do you want to bet that some future Ontario government does not go begging to the future Prime Minister (whoever that may be) for a bailout? Could any Prime Minister do the right thing and say “No, it’s your mess, you clean it up.” to the most populous province in the country and survive the next election? Or will that PM cave in and give tax-money from other provinces that have managed their finances well to spend-thrift Ontario? It will make for one heckuva parliamentary debate.

Yeah. I’ve heard that argument before. But it can be turned the other way round as well: would the Gov’t survive the loss of votes from ‘Haves’?
But maybe, just maybe, we’re starting to see the start of a ‘clean up your own mess’ approach with the recent announcement that Health $$$ increases from the feds are going to be cut back.
Actually this is a significant column – the Washington post now has some serious investigators looking into solyndra et al. They have been getting scooped by the Washington times and others for a while now. I guess their own commercial interests are. Impelling them to go after scandals that lie in plain sight. Let’s see if they start doing the same vis a vis holder. If they do then we will know obamas finished.
The paragraph starts off wrong with it says “Meant to create jobs”. The whole rationale behind these “green” projects was to skim off government money for politicians in power. Those same politicians are probably assuming that no-one will ever remember what happened to this money. It’s just like the Canadian firearms registry — a means of funneling stolen cash to the Lieberal party.
At least in the US there are now two former Illinois governors doing time in penitentiary for corruption. Hopefully they’ll soon be joined by a former Chicago “community organizer” and a few members of his cabinet.

I must disagree a tiny bit Gord. Certain MSM outlets do seem to be going after these Obama scandals a bit more now, but I doubt its falling circulation numbers causing the sudden interest.
My thought is that the DemocRat Party is -terrified- of what’s going to happen to them next year, in 2012. Here’s why.
As of last March I noted that even middle class Black women in Phoenix AZ had taken the Obama stickers off their minivans. This July I noted that the Heart of Darkness, San Francisco, had very few Obama stickers on cars even in the soooooper liberal rich parts of town. Even in Silicon Valley. I counted maybe ten.
Even in Silicon Valley I heard the odd person going off about Obama in public. Total strangers raving about the national debt at the bar or the grocery store or the ice cream joint. In Arizona EVERYBODY goes off about him in public. If the guy walked down the street in Phoenix I’m sure some old lady would hammer him with her purse.
I’m not exaggerating. He’s done like dinner. Nothing can save him.
The DemocRats aren’t blind, they can see every day what was blazingly obvious to this Canadian on holiday. Safe DemocRat seats went Republican in November 2010. They lost seats in New York City! They lost the freakin’ Kennedy seat in the People’s Republic of Massachusetts!
So, I believe the Powers are moving to prepare the ground for the DemocRat Convention in 2012. I believe that Barry will not get the Democrat nomination for President. I think they’re going to give it to Hillary.
That’s why Solyndra made the news at all, and why Holder did as well. Otherwise it’d be a strictly Intertube story.

Phantom and Loki, your horizon is too narrow by half. The Liberals used the IT companies in Quebec to grab the money and run for a longer period than the gun registry scam. The MSM knew about the Adscam fiasco long before it became public, and that I believe was only the tip of the iceberg. The Canadian taxpayer will never learn the depths of the money pit that the Liberals have dug in this country.
