  1. CBC should be shut down. It is infested with the worst scuzz Toronto has to offer Canada, you Ontarians must be so proud this is your contribution to the Canadian media. Another skewed question about a problem caused by the very people CBC wants to riot, very classy CBC, no wonder nobody watches anything, except Don Cherry, on your pathetic network ! Listen up James Moore, defund this nest of commies before they stir up something bigger, they will be financing the 50 train cars of guards bringing some grand chief to Ottawa to depose Steven Harper next.

  2. I grew up surrounded by 5 Reserves in North central Manitoba. I can’t recall ever seeing a house in the condition of those shown in news vids. No excuse for it. The Government should ship tools and lumber to this reserve and tell them to get to work.
I’m in my seventies and I am certainly expected to keep my own property in shape and maintained. But in my case there’s no whitie to call.

  3. Watch interview on P&P tonite between evan Solomon and the Grand Chief. It was cbc hack Solomon that PUSHED and pushed this civil disobedience thing. It was obscene, and Solomon should be fired for inciting violence.

  4. I can’t recall ever seeing a house in the condition of those shown in news vids.
On the reserves around Edmonton the houses aren’t too bad. Years ago they were pretty bad. What is it with the band in Ontario that they don’t look after their free houses. It’s obvious the band is the problem, not the system.

  5. I’m totally in favor of some civil disobedience. They should all sit in at the band office until e chief can tell them what happened to all the money. That’s an occupy I could get on board with.

  6. What first came to mind is picketing the local casino until they give Attawapiskat enough money to solve all their problems.

  7. My first thought was; are these people for real?
Then I realized that anyone even thinking these question falls under the title, “you can’t fix stupid”.
I’m embarrassed that this would be on the air waves in Canada! let alone by a tax payer based organization. How bloody dumb!

  8. This is going to be fun-tastic. This “poll” isn’t a poll at all… it’s a warning shot. You watch they will start their blockades and the rest of it. But this time they will lose. This isn’t the lib-dipper brigade in charge. The government is going to have a look at the books and it’s all coming out.

  9. Shut this pathetic network down and put Solomon on trial for inciting violence and treason.

  10. Occupy the chiefs house!!!
Finally, civil disobedience I can get on board with!
Personally, I hope the left keeps coming unglued like they are. Get their antics out into the light.

  11. I’m more and more inclined to view parts of the CBC as treasonous. This inciting violence and encouraging criminal activity just plain has to stop. That having been said, I do value the Radio broadcasts. In my world, losing the CBC-TV is no loss and cleaning up the Radio a bit and we’re good to go. Mind you, that will take much, much less money.

  12. Tom Ormsby, DeBeers said they paid 325M in six years to this res. plus gave them 2 trailers for housing and sent in crews to remodel them. They have 100 working for them and would hire more if they were willing to work. Why is this res. so hardup with all the money they have?

  13. In the interest of absolute fair play I would like to decline credit and give it to “wallyj” from yesterday’s “Reader Tips”:
“The ‘yes’ side is ahead. Go figure.
    “‘Occupy Attawakispat’,teepees,wigwams,it’s all too tents.
“Posted by: wallyj at December 6, 2011 9:25 PM”

  14. What’s the tent thing all about? There are supposed to be around 1300 on the reserve and I count close to 300 houses on Google Earth. The place doesn’t actually look all that bad. I’m sure if routine repair was done on a timely basis, the houses would just be fine.
Anyone have a good look at the houses in the North End in Winnipeg. The reserve looks better to me.

  15. Bad apples.
Never offered stories about hardworking SUCESSFULL natives.Theres lots out there.
Doesn’t fit the socialist nanny narrative.
    (tripped over my tongue there!)

  16. I actually think that Soloman is good at his job.
    He doesn’t have editorial control.
He’s doing what he is supposed to do, given the editorial mandate he’s constrained by.
I would welcome him on SunTV.

  17. The civil disobedience is already happening at Attawapiskat in the form of the gross incompetence of the Chief and her Council and their flipping the bird at the Federal Government — which means us, the ROC.
This reservation has received over $90-million from the Canadian taxpayers in the past five years in addition to $30-million from De Beers, including an initial $1-million at the signing of the contract and at least $2-million a year since 2005.
This is not a huge reservation. There’s plenty of money to go around if it’s managed properly. What a whining wimp Chief Theresa Spence is, urging Native Chiefs to take an aggressive stand with the government, saying, “We’re not going to take it anymore.”
It’s the ROC who should be saying we’re not going to take it anymore: giving gazillion$ of dollars every year to grossly mismanaged Native bands, whose so-called “leaders” live like royalty while their “subjects” live like serfs.
    Enough already.

  18. Here’s an idea.
If the reserve doesn’t want the involvement from the govt, then the govt should feel obligated to end any and all assistance.
Send the message, you want the funding, it comes with oversight….nonnegotiable.
That or the entire population gets evacuated from this potemkin village.

  19. I’m for civil disobedience.
Taxpayers should all stop sending their hard-earned money to governments that squander it. Firms should stop remitting withholding taxes.
    Starve the beast!

  20. What a stupid question cbc.
talk about trying to insite violence.
if this doesn’t exeplify the free loader mentality i don’t know what does.
    the cbc should be defunded.
& that cheif and her council couldn’t manage a fart in a bottle.
    they need outside management.
better yet, withold my tax dollars and let em both (cbc & natives) get a real job and make their own way.

  21. Is Indian Affairs any different than the many other orgs that the Libels took monetary advantage of. Another classic example is the Immigration Dept. where Libel hangers-on set up offices to in essence sell Canadian passports for $50000 per pop! Many of these people were wives or husbands of sitting MPs.
Indian Affairs conumes oveer $10 billion per year with little or no accountability. Actually Gary Nault(?) MP Liberal under the Chretian admin as the minister brought forward a paper to abolish the Department. That died real quick.
Sure get mad about the unaccountable band leadership that rips off their people. Just remember that they were taught well by a class of bureacrat who has made their livelyhood by also doing that very thing. When I say that I mean by foul means not simple bureacracy. Bid fixing, fraud and out right theft are how things work.

  22. As always the real story is in the comments, and although our side has injected a small amount of reason to the normally neurotic self-loathing tribe who dote on CBC comment boards, the drift of the CBC fan boys is that:
    A) Every negative aspect of their morbidly obsessing existence is all Harper’s fault.
    B) Civil disobedience is a go-to political tactic that can be employed at the drop of a hat for the pettiest of reasons – hell no it’s not rioting/trespassing/vandalism, its social justice.
    C) Any opinion outside the intellectually inbred CBC echo chamber must not be responded to in reasoned point-counter-point debate but shall be smashed with the force of mass obscene verbiage and savage aspersion (thus displaying the neurotic tribalistic culture the urban left which they erroneously mistake for being right)
I’m more convinced than ever that if the CBC was privatized and was forced by viewer demand share to remake itself as some sloppy middle of the road urban liberal media vehicle, the radical urban left and fringe neurotics would lose their only rallying point and soap box. So to the end of handing this destructive political element a fatal blow, let’s get on with privatizing the CBC ASAP.

  23. We have paid their ‘bills’ for too long. And what have they done but watch TV and live like rats.
We could transport that particular reserve to downtown Detroit and they would fit right in. Probably a few others as well.
AND … When you live a squalid hut in the Arctic circle with no visible means of support … why would you have all those kids?
This entire Indian thing is insane.

  24. You gotta love the comments from the disgruntled crowd still smarting over the Harper majority. Everything is PMSH’s fault. He is mean-spirited and divisive. When he takes the bull by the n*ts in an effort to clean up a mess, he is castigated for not consulting the proper authorities and engaging in even more meaningless talk.
The government could throw another $90 million at the problem and the ususal whiny complainers would still find fault.
As for the CBC …. a complete and utter waste of taxpayers’ hard-earned money. Defund this abomination immediately!
