  1. Just when I was starting to think having the government pay you to enhance oil extraction was a pretty cool idea.
The Alberta Govt is pouring about $2B into a scheme like this too, also with the goal of enhanced oil recovery as a side benefit.
Has anyone studied the economics of this? How long until we get $2B of extra production as a result of forcing CO2 down into the nether regions?

  2. Carbon capture. Think about this. Only Al Gore or Suzuki and their brainwashed minions could see any logic in this stupidity.
We are paying a tax on nothing. Carbon. A absolute necessity to life and they treat it like it was a pollutant. The inmates have definately taken over the asylam. Global warming my ass.

  3. The triumph of Ali-Bama and the Euro-cRATS in weakening the global economy has come home to roost. They basically ran outa “other peoples money” to finance a cure to a non-existant problem…
Ali-Bama needs to get re-elected and needs to boost employment and recover the econmy in an election year and the Euro-cRATS have bankruted the EU…reality sure bites……
Ali-Bama is confused…and the Euro-cRATS are treading water…2 decades on and the last phase of the COLD WAR is playing out.
    History repeats itself….Rome’s institutions were preserved by it’s conquerors….for a time…

  4. I hope Global AL Groper Gore has to pay back all his investors, or spend time in jail..

  5. What will the history books will say 30 years from now on carbon hysteria?
    I sadly shake my head.

  7. The concept is not dead in Alberta. An industry has been built to consume $2 billion taxpayer dollars. Most of the money will be used to lobby for more money and once it is gone the industry will go too. Not one barrel of extra oil will be produced. If we are lucky not one pound of precious C02 will be lost from the atmosphere.

  8. One comment on site summed it up ver well:
“Gary Hladik says: November 4, 2011 at 1:41 pm
The best way to “capture carbon” is to plant trees, cut them for lumber, “sequester” the lumber in houses and buildings, and plant more trees. There you go: “green” jobs that produce a product beneficial to mankind.”
There are millions of trees in Alberta absorbing carbon, problem solved [and in return oxygen is produced … what more do we need – (besides fighting real pollution.)]

  9. Back in the 1980s repressurization of the Judy Creek field with CO2 was almost a go. I suspect the economics were bad and Imperial Oil ended up selling the field instead.
20 years later someone convinced the government that a good use of $2 billion would be to pump CO2 underground to get rid of it and coincidentally a charitable oil company could extract more oil. I always saw it as a scam.
If the government wants to spend $ 2 billion, hydro electric is hardly touched in Alberta. But the missing trees won’t be converting CO2 to O2.

There’s another company that might (that should) go under: Generation Investment Management.
Two of the principals are our own beloved Al Gore, and David Blood. That’s why people refer to it as “Blood & Gore”.

  11. Some good news for a change. Onward green vegans into obscurity, with bankruptcy for your cons, as a side dish.
