Negative Action Hiring Policy

Hey, employer, want 10 grand? Well, then don’t hire the native-born Canadian:

Premier Dalton McGuinty’s Liberals plan to entice businesses into hiring new immigrants with a $10,000 tax credit.

Yes, the Ontario Liberals plan would pay employers not to hire the applicant who was born in Canada. Christina Blizzard, writing in the Toronto Sun:

Imagine this: A company is hiring staff. There are two applicants. One is a young person recently arrived in this country, speaking little English. He or she has no background and no history of working and paying taxes in this country. The other applicant is a young person who was educated here. Who’s paying taxes. Whose parents paid taxes and who’ve contributed to this community in countless ways. The young person probably has a student debt.

Who’ll get the job? Well, McGuinty has just given employers 10,000 reasons to hire the newcomer.

It will be interesting to see how this one plays out with non-immigrant voters in Ontario.

  1. Great. Take my tax money and pay an employer not to hire me. This coupled with Affirmative Action is really despicable. This isn’t just a shot against native born Canadians but immigrants who have been here for awhile as well. The left just seems to hate ordinary working people.

  2. Is it possible that it didn’t dawn on these Libtard imbeciles that this scheme would put others at a huge disadvantage?
I think it’s not just possible, but very likely!
Talk about being both policially and economically stupid!
Or is it a case of pure panic?

  3. Libertarians, just think of it as delayed abortion, like a woman’s right to choose to end the life of a native-born Canadian, this gives employers the right to choose to cut the ground from under a native-born Canadian at age 25.
You may protest these are different, but they are essentially leftist politics of cultural suicide practiced at different age levels.

  4. Oh this wont play well. It will go over like Tory’s religous school fundng.
If it catches fire then look out.
More worried about the media cheering on the ghost of jack…..NDP are rising, another disaster in the making.

  5. McLiar is pulling out all the stops and promising everything to everybody and an empty till from which to pay for everything. At the same time he wants to force the Separate School system to teach his agenda and ram through his green scam.
It is amazing that Pinocchio McGuinty has as much support as he has. Are people that disengaged with the events around them that they just ignore the last eight years of incompetency or is the opposition that lackluster?

  6. well it isn’t much different than when I working for the Federal Gov’t years ago and trying to get ahead by applying for different positions BUT I could not even apply cause the hiring criteria was ‘MUST BE OF ABORIGINAL ANCENSTRY”…..now how fair is that? that is plain “reverse” discrimination or am I the only person that thinks this way??

  7. Race based policing check, religious based education check, hiring immigrants over the unemployed people of Ontario check. Is he trying to drive the working class out of Ontario or does he hate them that much?

  8. This from the same deep thinkers who came up with Ont. grants for foreign university grads to continue studies at Ont. universities. No mention of any reciprocity, just favouritism for foreign students over thousands of native students desperately in debt and desperately seeking a permanent job.
For McGuinty charity does not begin at home. A complete face-slap to longtime tax paying Ontarians.

  9. It won’t pan out too well for the Liberals with Ethnic voters, most of whom have been in Canada more then 5 years and thus wouldn’t qualify.

  10. Not going to play well with the “ethnic” vote that backed Ford. Most have been here a while and won’t qualify. More importantly, their children are Canadian and definitely won’t qualify. Reminds me of the religious school funding the Tories backed last go round. You could hear the drop in the polls after that announcement. Could be wrong but, I think the Liberals just shot themselves in the foot.

  11. Lol Boudicae, we’re both thinking the same thing. Great minds think a like. This brilliant brain child of a plan the Liberals thought of my backfire most among the very group they’re aimed at. Also, most immigrants settle in areas with already large ethnic populations who have been here awhile. Those areas are also battleground ridings. Would love to know what the feeling there is among ethnic Canadians who have worked there way up the hard way over the years…just like every other immigrant to Canada.

  12. Canadains are not wanted in their own Country.
Now the East knows what the West has for years.

  13. Incentives?
They know as well as anyone that this will put 10K into the hands of already established foreign business owners who fully intend to hire only their foreign relatives ANYWAY.
Ever been to a Kabob shop, or vast numbers of other immigrant owned businesses and see many other ethnicities working there? Of course not!
Welcome to Liberal La La Land.

  14. Seeing as Dolton’s perspective on life is framed in Toronto, and most Torontonians won’t “work”, this is probably no harm, no foul from his perspective. Just getting local business support at $10k per head for continuing bizniz as usual. I swear I haven’t met more than a handful of Canadian born Canadians here who work. I certainly don’t work with many. You know, they are very busy “fighting” for “rights”… or just pursuing their “passion”. Or just chilling on Queen Street stroking their iPhone. Same difference.

  15. Boy. Wait ’til Tim hears about this!!!
He’ll be all over this like…like…like he was on the HRCs…yeah! And, and….like he is on the OSPCA. And the Endangered Species Act.
    Go get ’em, Tiger!
Boy, wouldn’t want to be in McGuinty’s shoes!

  16. In his comments tomorrow on what a despicable plan this is, Hudak will re-introduce Tory plans for religious school funding.
    Just. Watch.

  17. Utter desperation trying to buy the ethnic vote.
That’s how to keep Ontario in Have Not Province status.

  18. There is a perfectly logical explanation. See, as far as Dalton knows, when you drive past Milton on the 401 or past Oakville on the QEW, you’ll fall off the edge of the world.
Since the Whole World is Toronto, the most important thing in the Whole World is the immigrant vote. I mean, the whole reason we even have immigrants is so they’ll vote Liberal.
Besides, White people are a bunch of hard @sses, they won’t go on welfare even if they don’t have a job. So getting immigrants jobs saves more money. Its genius!
And y’all are 100% right about Hudak. If there’s a single human on Planet Earth who could lose this election to Dead Man Duhlton, Hudak is the guy. McGuinty could get a BJ in the middle of University Avenue from ten under-aged Asian hookers on national TV, and Hudak could still lose this race.

  19. In his comments tomorrow on what a despicable plan this is, Hudak will re-introduce Tory plans for religious school funding.
    Just. Watch.
    ==============
muslims demand.. they haven’t been told NO yet..

  20. Is it any wonder why so many people despise politicians?
I had that *exact* thought when I first read the story, Robert.

  21. Two years ago, I was looking for a job. I went to my local Canada Employment centre. There were no jobs that needed my skills, but there were plenty of programs. If I’d been a woman, there was a program for me. If I’d been a recent immigrant, there was a program for me. If I’d been a “person of colour”, there was a program for me. If I’d been under 25, there was a program for me.
But no – I was a white, Canadian born, male. No soup for me! It infuriates me that government at all levels reaches out to all these other groups, but tells me, that after 30 years of paying taxes and supporting all their programs, to go hang.
I think this is absolute desperation on McSquinty’s part. People outside of Ontario probably haven’t seen his self-deprecating (and self-serving) commercials, but he admits he’s not at all popular. And while a number of anonymous groups (Working Families? The ETFO?) are trying to paint the Tories as villains, I think the Ontario PC’s have finally come up with an effective ad – showing McSquinty promising he won’t raise taxes, while listing all the tax raises he’s implemented.
People know he’s a liar. Now with this latest move, they’ll see what an economic clod he is, playing the politics of division and enmity to try to hang on to his job. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

  22. Ontario Conservatives MUST MUST MUST jump all over this with a crushing Tv commercial that fans a tornado of outraged protest, because you can be sure that The Media Party will NOT mae an issue of it.

  23. As an immigrant I am really, really pissed at this. I and my family came here for a better life. In a few short years we had already achieved more than we could have ever hoped for in our homeland. Isn’t that enough???? Canada provided opportunity for us to achieve, it didn’t achieve FOR us.
I used to ask my father why we had become successful in a new land, his answer was always the same… “because son we know what it’s like to be poor and here we have the choice of not staying that way, all that’s asked of you is effort.”
Dad has passed but his words live on.

  24. speaking of Trona , CBCpravda is as fixated on Olivia Chow as they were on that nastiest of emmigrants Omar Khadr. third story in three days. would have been funny to have a leader of the opposition that couldnt speak either official language.looks like the dippers were thinking of following in that noble democratic institution practiced by North Korea where one has to be related to make it, (libs like it too, check out justin turdeau , CBCs pick about 5 years ago)

  25. Are we even pretending any more that there is an economic rationale for our immigration policy?
If the taxpayer needs to cough up $10,000 to get a new immigrant hired, clearly that immigrant shouldn’t be coming to Canada.

  26. It won’t pan out too well for the Liberals with Ethnic voters, most of whom have been in Canada more then 5 years and thus wouldn’t qualify.
    ~Phil
Not going to play well with the “ethnic” vote that backed Ford. Most have been here a while and won’t qualify.
    ~Boudicae
    Wrong.
It’ll go over like gangbusters with the ethnic voters who own businesses and can now bring their extended families over and hire them with a competitive advantage.
Nepotism, it’s what Liberals are having for dinner and we get to foot the bill.

  27. Does that mean that I, as an anglo-french bilingual USAmerican, should be looking harder at jobs in the Outaouais valley, right bank ?

  28. They will just change the rule to white males or chirstian white males in canada ,simple problem solves now they can hire indians , black’s ,muslims, everyone except white males .

  29. If the social engineers in Ontario don’t want you, come to Wild Rose Country. We don’t give a crap where you are from; What colour your skin is; What statue, spirit or hat rack you prey to.
If you want to work, your’e are kinda people.

  30. KevinB, something similar happened to me. A prospective employer asked me to check a box indicating how black/female/aboriginal/disabled/ect. I was. I e-mailed the prospective employer back and said to review my resume which should have been sufficient in determining how qualified I was. I never heard back from them.
Look at this dreadful Liberal plan this way- how many immigrants applied for legal citizenship, learned English, adapted to Canadian life, took a crappy job or two to support themselves and STILL had to beg for scraps? Does one think they will be pleased with this affirmative action plan?

  31. Thanks for that, Red Jeff (10:55). The immigrants I’ve met are hard working people like your dad – harder-working than many native-born Canadians, IMO – who are more than capable of succeeding without the help of pandering politicians.

  32. The immigrant-hiring tax credit is yet another immoral, disgraceful policy from Looter McGuinty. He can’t be bounced fast enough.
However, I don’t disagree with religious school funding. Think of it as one step toward a voucher system. It’s fairer to religious taxpayers than what we have now.

  33. “Is McTaxy throwing the election?
Posted by: atlas is shrugging at September 5, 2011 8:07 PM”
Either that, or somebody is giving him lousy advice. I can’t see Ontario taxpayers rewarding him for insulting their intelligence.

  34. Liberal bigots must be held to account for discriminating against Canadians, this is disgusting.

  35. When I mused in a comment a couple of days ago that LPC were capable of using discrimination to gain a political advantage I did not think it would be against all Ontario Citizens.
Imagine the lack of common sense which generated this lunacy and you can understand the computerizing of medical records fiasco and the incredible ever increasing costs of electricity for Ontario residents.
    Can it be a LPC political supporter or journolist looks for stupid as well as unprincipled when voting? Cheers;

  36. This is absolutely disgusting, anyone that doesn’t believe that the liberals hate native-born White Canadians needs to have their heads examined. The shameful pandering to immigrants with these multicultural grants and ‘family reunification’ schemes is simply a vote buying plot by the liberal party. Thousands of Canadians are unemployed and these rats have the audacity to discriminate against us with this arrogant anti-Canadian BS. However, the present situation can be reversed by:
-eliminating affirmative action (aka discrimination against White men).
We need to return to a meritocracy, where people rise and fall according to their ability. (I hear that the Toronto police’s ‘diversity’ goal is to make White men a minority, I feel safer already.)
-ending multiculturalism, mass immigration and the welfare state.
We must ditch this cultural relativist nonsense and reestablish the unhypenated Canadianism envisioned by Diefenbaker. Indeed, the mass importation of radically different ethno-cultural backgrounds is a recipe for disaster. Immigration needs to be severely curtailed and focused on skilled individuals who are a clear benefit and can be easily assimilated into Canadian society. The preference should be given to highly educated Australians, not illiterate Somolians. Furthermore, we must dismantle the welfare state, which creates a harmful dependancy on the government, and discourages native-born Canadians from seeking gainful employment. This has resulted in a dependancy on foreign labour. One of the main reasons why the Roman empire fell was their reliance on foreign workers. If we don’t learn from history, we are likely to repeat it.

  37. “One of the main reasons why the Roman empire fell was their reliance on foreign workers.”
No. The longevity and strength of the Empire was its ability to integrate foreign populations and make them into Romans. The Empire fell in large part because it lost this capacity in the late 3rd-4th Century, allowing them to immigrate in whole tribes and retain their ethnic identity.
    Sound familiar?

  38. I love how everyone uses that old “Fall-of-the-Roman-Empire” crutch.
If anything, the Roman Empire was a roaring success, surviving for four centuries in one form, revived from its alternate capital at Constantinople in another form, and only finally twinkling out and fading away in the 14th and 15th Centuries.
Not a bad run at all: modern states and dynasties should be so fortunate to last so long!

  39. There is besides the nepotism concept – hiring ones newly arrived nephew, the cases where a new immigrant is treated like the affirmitive action hire, and is only there because of skin colour or etc. Secondly this is a tough election for the opposition, because of the river of cash the public sector unions are pouring into the campaign. Either the Catholic teachers $3.0 million or the “Freinds” who apparently have pumped in $7.0 million. All O.K. by Elections Ont.

  40. JJM, actually the Roman Empire hasn’t totally fallen.
You got the RC church and Roman laws integrated with western laws.
Watch for the revival of the Roman Empire to counter the Islamic tide.
Only thing is this time the head will be a serpent.
