Yuvaraj Krishnan treated patients at Middlemore Hospital using completely forged medical qualifications. He wasn’t caught by background checks — he was recognised by a colleague who knew him from years earlier, when he had already posed as a fake medical student at the University of Auckland.
This wasn’t a one-off. Sophisticated document fraud networks in India are mass-producing fake degrees, transcripts, and professional certificates for jobs and student visas abroad. From massive fake degree scandals involving tens of thousands of bogus qualifications, to migration agents specialising in forged documents — the problem is global and growing.
Now, with New Zealand’s new India FTA removing caps on Indian students and fast-tracking skilled workers, the risks are about to skyrocket. How many more unqualified “doctors”, nurses, and professionals are already here — and how many more are coming?
New Zealand! Imagine that! So negligent. I’m just so glad none of that kind of crap is happening here!
Illegitimate Indian doctors are still probably more qualified than legitimate Canadian doctors aka quacks that pushed the COVID vaccines.
In their defense, in socialized medicine so many people die it’s sometimes hard to tell the good doctors from the bad ones.
This sort of thing has been going on for a VERY long time. Nearly 3 decades past, while I was managing a project in Saudi Arabia, one of my workers took his annual leave, and when he came back from Pakistan, he presented his brand new Master of Science degree in Mathematics, then expected to receive a salary increase because he now had that credential.
Of course, even with that new credential, he still couldn’t handle anything more complex than very basic algebra.

3 out of my 4 Doctors are foreign-born Indian. Why? Do we not educate enough Doctors who ‘look like me’? Do Doctors ‘who look like me’ not want to work for the cut rates that HMO’s and PPO’s offer them? Is Doctoring another job American’s … just won’t do? Or do our colleges only teach useless majors such as “studies” of something or other.
Yes, I’ve applied for EVERY Doctor ‘who looks like me’ available in my medical plan … and they’re all full up … taking no more new patients.
It’s obvious that this guy really, REALLY wants to be a doctor. He faked a med school ID so he could attend classes (which he probably couldn’t afford) and now he’s faking Doctor’s credentials to practice medicine.
So I’m torn…
Should we throw him in jail, or start a ‘Go Fund Me’ to help him pay for Med school?
Scammers gonna scam. I have personally met some of them in IT support, car sales, education, etc. and my son dealt with “engineers”. Interviewing 35 year old Sr engineers with 20 years’ experience. Everybody is too chicken to be called racist to call these scammers out, and the push for DEI only makes things worse. Hell even Microslop is finding out.
So I should be concerned if my proctologist’s name is Dr. Poopinder?
