We Don’t Need No Stinking Twisty Bulbs

I love the smell of majority in the morning.

The Conservative government wants to postpone pulling the plug on incandescent light bulbs, saying it needs more time to allow for technological innovations and to deal with concerns about compact fluorescent lamps.

  1. Watermelons like to be cool, so they want to insure that they don’t have to sit under incandescent lamps.
But, than again, watermelons do not have all that much substance, mostly water, some seeds and a little pulp. Once you cut throught the shallow green exterior all that is left is a watery red pulp with no real sustaining value.
Try living on a diet of watermelons for a while and see how that works out. But I warn you don’t try to eatdigest the outer part.

  2. R’s post is a living example of why there should NEVER be proportional representation.

  3. Incandescent bulbs are not wasteful, poisoning us with mercury so we can pretend to tackle fake global warming is assinine. I have no intention of using mercury laced bulbs, now or in the future.

  4. R is just “new” using a different name.
Feel free to scroll past that poorly translated screen door!

  5. I’m probably to going to pick up an LED bulb and give it a shot. LED’s have shown themselves to be useful in other situations (flashlights, brake lights, stop lights, etc), so I’ll give them a try in my home. Before the CFLs hit the market flourescents had proven themselves only to be useful for large amounts of low quality, always on lighting. Schools, warehouses, etc.

  6. The ultimate end game.
Guess who makes a 50 dollar light bulb?

    Never happen..
We would be living in the dark.
    Golds Gym,
    YMCA,
    Shopping malls,
will have to hire security guards just to keep people from stealing 50 dollar bulbs.
    Pssssst-
    “Hey buddy,
You wanna buy a $200 dollar street lamp?”

  7. The usual whining by leftard trolls, who think Harper is Attilla the Hun. The Reform Party was milquetoast liberals, and Harper is left of Reform.

  8. “New” we hardy “knew” you
Hahlal aside I get my afternoon laugh from ye,

  9. Can you export some of that common sense South of the Border?
LED’s are the way to go for flashlights and headlights. They’re just beginning to invent ways to turn LED’s into 360 degrees of smooth lighting.
CFL’s were obsolete before they were ever mandated. I have several CFL’s in my home, and the delay in turning on catches me by surprise every time.

“QuAIA’s new plans will pose a challenge for Mayor Rob Ford, who announced that he would cut more than $100,000 in city tourism funding for Pride Toronto if QuAIA continued to march.”
Most people expect QUAIA to be there in a disingenuous form and turn the Pride celebration into an anti-Israel circus – on city money.

  12. As a very well-educated electrical engineer, I can tell you this is the *best* news I’ve heard all week.
I’m writing to my MP to let him know how pleased I am.
Thank God, a sensible government at last.

  13. LOL R’s a real piece of work, Muslims can run for elected office the Mayor of Calgary is a Muslim you troll.

  14. create substance by using chemical engineer to able to DISABLE the toxic of bulb is less costly and much easier to
destroy very costly all base of houses electrical
    to complete new form
every from creat their own problmes
even electical car as people think can reduce pollotion it bring new kind of hazardous and pollution and problems attached to new inventory
find problems for existing materials is sometimes is easier to destroy all exiting
    because switcdh to new one
who is going to get rid of all old material this become pail of big garabe with mor hazadous attached to it
In reallity when conservative can not deal with Muslim also prefer to stop their immigration or go to war with them while find better reasonable solution is alway is find best option never was conservative solution I am only witness here

  15. Never doubt my info about Islam

his wife is not war hijab
two years ago one of my releativ went to
    one big mosaque of Isamalia
    by mistake then soon
    he got escart out
said you are not one of us….
majority of Muslim do not believe
Ahamadia and Ismalia and bahi are Muslim
I bleive Isamalia is better other 3 but thier act is weired to me
for example Ismalia is only mosque in world that their women go to mosque without wear Hijab
or allow to drink alchol or cut some imam list out

  16. “Not in your lifetime.
They’ve managed to do something about the bulbs, but still nothing for the gun owners”
Aaron — how truly stupid are you?
You can’t repeal legislation WITHOUT A SITTING HOUSE.
Parliament convenes June 2nd, for gawd’s sake.

  17. I can foresee problems for a Canadian light bulb industry — poor sales. With so many people having a 20 year supply of light bulbs would you, if you could still buy incandescents:
    (a) reach into your stash to replace a burned out bulb or
    (b) go to the store and buy even more incandescents?
And then of course there is that looming danger of US incandescent bulbs being “dumped” into Canada. I think we should just repackage them as “Canadian winter heat globes” and sell them back at a much higher price to the Americans.

  18. You can send mail to Members of Parliment from anywhere in Canada without postage. Lizzy May is now an MP. Guess where I’m going to mail my CFL’s!

  19. It’s a step in the right direction, although my preference would be a complete recall of the offending legislation. I mean, truthfully, do we really need such micro-legislation as to what kind of light bulbs people can use? It’s offensive to any right thinking, freedom loving citizen. It’s also just a plain ridiculous law.
Since this is just a delay, and not a withdrawal, of the legislation, I won’t be dismantling my stash of incandescents any time soon.
