What distinguishes Palin from other conservative leaders in the US and makes her an important figure worldwide is her indifference to the views of the Left’s opinion makers. Her capacity to steer debate in the US in a way no other conservative politician can owes entirely to the fact that she does not seek to win over Leftist elites. She seeks to unseat them.
Or, as I heard someone once say, Palin understands that “pleasing your enemies does not turn them into friends”.

A lesson we all need to learn, and learn again. Never say sorry that you hold particular views – make those on the Left defend their positions.
I wish your posts had a “Like” button that I could click 1000 times 🙂
Palin understands that pleasing your enemies does not turn them into friends.
Not only that, Palin understands that Leftists need to be constantly gratified or you will lose their support.
Leftists are nothing if not malcontents who need constant new stimulation.
Pleasure of any kind is fleeting for them and they’re always keening for their next fix.
They are never content.
They want change for change’s sake, they want diversity for it’s own sake, they want new for newness’ sake.
It never occurs to them that change can be bad, diversity may not be a good thing in amounts too large, or that the ‘new’ thing they want may be an old evil that is only ‘new’ to their ‘history started today’ myopic point of view.
They eschew stability itself(while cradling a static view of the world) and that’s why, in their search for Utopia, the Left always makes ‘the perfect’ the enemy of ‘the good’.
another example of the tolerant left;

on and on it goes…..
That was a superb article. Everybody, share that with friends and enemies far and wide. That is a great expose of the Left’s hatred of all things conservative, and what they will do to gain power.
Regarding the related article. US ethnic Asian lawmakers would do a lot more good for Chinese people if they demanded an apology from the Chinese government for the way they treat the Chinese in China. Rush should just say he was doing a Rosie O’Donnell impression.
Gee, I guess nobody is going to wang chung tonight.
It looks like Senator Yee has the leftoid victimitis down pat. Next thing you know Rush and Sarah will be blamed for the Chinese Head Tax back in the 1880s. Ooops, that was Canada so it is PM Harper’s fault.
I just love how it takes so little to scare, insult and anger the crap out of leftists.
Go Rush!
One thing I have noted about insulting a Chinaman … a half hour later you want to insult him again.
Rush is inciting hatred toward Chinese by saying ching choong. Hu JinTao is responsible for 1000’s of executions of chinese per year, jailing of 1000’s of dissendents per year, and these a’holes are concerned Rush insulted him.
Good grief. My wife is Chinese and my kids are Heinz 57. If you’re getting upset over silly imitations you have way too much time on your hands. Things like this push me a little bit closer to the belief that the West is done. Stick a fork in it.
So I wonder what she thinks of the SNL skit “Bend Over”

Greg among others has put it all in perspective.
Dear Me. Yee
Could you please send me documentation of your efforts to boycott advertizers on Saturday Night Live? If you cannot, that would seem to put your integrity into question.
You will excuse me as I am on my way to Domino’s Pizza for lunch.
I agree with the openness and ‘grounded in reality’ perspective of Palin. That’s also why I think that she shouldn’t confine herself to a political party and, this time (2012) move into the presidential race. She has a more important role than that within party confinement; she is the voice of the people – of both political parties, of independents – etc.
As for Limbaugh, I may be alone on this thread to criticize what he did – but, mocking the language sounds of another person, is frankly, stupid. IF it were a comedy show – and we’ve seen lots of them, with mocking the sounds, just the sounds, of any and all languages: Chinese, Russian, German, French…that’s OK.
But mockery by a political analyst, of the language sounds spoken by a foreign leader, is schoolyard behaviour. Imagine if a Chinese political show had mocked not the content, but the sounds of a speech given by Bush..or Churchill..or..
That is an action that by extension mocks the speaker – and Limgaugh had no right to do such ad hominem. Focus on and only on – the issues in China. Focus on human rights, on democracy and so on.
Limbaugh isn’t an analyst, he’s a pundit like Glenn Beck or Ann Coulter.
It sickens me that so many Chinese immigrants to Canada make so little effort to learn English that over 50% of the children enrolled in ESL classes in B.C.s lower mainland were born in Canada.
Every time I leave home and encounter Chinese in the communities around me they offend me by crapping all over my culture.
I could give a seemingly endless list of incidences and examples.
Rush Limbaugh has every right to do whatever he wants on his show.
Offended people have every right to boycott the sponsors of Limbaugh’s show if they want to pressure Limbaugh into being less offensive to them.
Kathy at FFF had this link up a couple of days ago re the “threats” caused by Limbaugh. Looks much like an inside job by Mr. Yee, an age old strategy used by Dems (Michelle Malkin has catalogued numerous instances of this)

Great article by Glick, thanks.
Good one Abe: “One thing I have noted about insulting a Chinaman … a half hour later you want to insult him again. – ha.
What ET said.
OT but Gabe has a strawpoll up, one of Kate’s “another internet polls gone horribly wrong”.
With 5000 votes, Cuda holding steady at 42.5%, Daniels struggling in second near 11%.
ET is right; it was a stupid stunt by Limbaugh. There is no meaningful comparison between comedy and political commentary.
“Limbaugh isn’t an analyst, he’s a pundit like Glenn Beck or Ann Coulter.”
Pure evasive drivel. Limbaugh purports to be serious, as do the other two you named. They intend that their commentary is to be weighed for what it’s worth.
I goofed. Ace o’ Spades poll has Cain second with 13%. Puts TEAs around 60% at a RINO site.
They intend that their commentary is to be weighed for what it’s worth.
Indeed they do.
Maybe you should think about what the worth of Limbaugh’s aping of the Chinese language was meant to be worth and give it the weight it deserves.
I stand by my statement; Rush Limbaugh is a pundit, and so are Beck and Coulter.
None of them has ever been hired by a political party as analysts.
You will find in all of their online biographies that they are described as pundits.
The narrative out of the White House when they are trying to discredit Rush is that he is an “entertainer”.
When the media starts holding other “entertainers” to the same standard they demand of Limbaugh, they might have a leg to stand on.
A lot about nothing!
“Indeed they do.”
Hence, Limbaugh’s comment was worth nothing. Through a childish stunt all he did was lend credence to the White House contention that he’s nothing but an entertainer and not to be taken seriously. Since he’s viewed by some as a mouthpiece of conservatives, it suggests that conservative positions are similarly childish and not to be taken seriously.
The average Canadian, including me, doesn’t care in the slightest over your splitting hairs between pundits and analysts. When you’re starting to argue semantics, you’ve already lost the debate. Even Clinton discovered that the hard way over his ludicrous, “It depends upon what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is.”
What’s the beef? They do it to themselves: http://www.uglychinesecanadian.com/?p=3266
Oz- your statement that Rush Limbaugh has ‘every right to do whatever he wants on his show’. That’s not the point. He can certainly be ad hominem (and he was); he can be stupid; he can be ignorant; he can be intelligent..and so on. So what?
He’s also and must be, open to criticism. Otherwise he’s preaching; he’s being dogmatic, immune to reaction.
So, I’m criticizing him. I think that making fun of someone’s language – totally ignoring the content of what was said – is something that is found only on comedy shows that focus only on sounds and no content…or…is something done by juveniles in the schoolyard.
‘pundit’ means someone who is a ‘source of opinion’, a critic, even, a ‘learned person. So, calling Limbaugh, Beck, Coulter pundits and not also analysts is demeaning to them. I hope that all three don’t just give opinions without facts and analysis. Indeed, Beck is insistent on both facts and analysis.
As for your insertion of your objection to the many Chinese people who do not learn English, that is another issue, quite valid in itself and based on our own multiculturalism – and has absolutely nothing to do with Limbaugh’s mockery of the Chinese president.
The average Canadian, including me, doesn’t care in the slightest over your splitting hairs between pundits and analysts.
Well you can certainly speak for yourself but as far as speaking for the average Canadian goes well “you don’t speak for them.”
The difference between the meaning of the word pundit and analyst isn’t hairsplitting.
The pundit attempts to lead public opinion, the analyst attempts to shape the policy of politicians.
Rush gets his ideas from other people and attempts to get in front of the parade formed by others and pretend he is leading, he doesn’t form them through analysis.
Oz- your statement that Rush Limbaugh has ‘every right to do whatever he wants on his show’. That’s not the point.
So what.

You can say he doesn’t have the right but I say he does.
Free speech is a human right.
And I have the right to say that he does and that you, ET, are wrong to have said Rush Limbaugh doesn’t have the right.

Mr.Yee’s faux outrage,in view of the SNL skit that Fred posted above,is, an….OUTRAGE!
This skit is 6 minutes long and the white actor portraying Hu Jintao carries on and on with his psuedo-Mandarin,while a white female actor “translates” his words in the sing-song Chinese accent of a person who’s just learning English.
I realize it’s supposed to be funny, but frankly,I find it embarrassing.
Anybody who is concerned over the “deep offence” of Rush Limbaugh’s schoolboy imitation, should take a look at what a Left-wing Democratic supporting television show just sold the public as comedy!
It’s a hell of a lot more offensive than a CONSERVATIVE radio talk show host’s 20 seconds of bad taste.
Send the damned Youtube address to Mr.Yee.
How many commenters who are offended by Limbaugh on this thread actually listen to his show on a regular basis?
Rush makes fun of a puppet president from a communist regime and the left gets in a tiffy about it and calls Rush a racist and claim he is inciting violence and hatred among Conservatives. Why ? Because their Messiah is embracing communism and tyranny and the Left does not want that to be the lead story.
We should send ICE in and check Calif. State Sen. Leland Yee’s immigration papers, or at least see how many illegal chinese immigrants he is harboring.
Besides, the majority of, if not all, Chinese-Americans are not gona vote Republican anyway, why pander to them ?
I see exactly where the Left is taking this, don’t you talk bad about those hyphenated-Americans you racist neo-cons they bloc-vote Democrat and they are good tax-paying citizens.
Yea right,
The Chinaman said; ” The Jews sank the Titanic.”
The Rabbi said; ” What ? The Titanic was sunk by an iceberg.”
The Chinaman said; ” Iceberg, Goldberg, Bloomberg, they all the same.”
oz – I continue to disagree. There’s no difference between a pundit and analyst. A pundit had better base his conclusions/opinions on fact – not fancy, and use reason/logic…not illogicality. Or, he’s not even a pundit; he’s a hot air blowhard.
I disagree with your definition that ‘the pundit attempts to lead public opinion while the analyst attempts to shape politician’s policy’. You are totally missing the point. Again, both the pundit and the analyst MUST use facts and reason. That’s the point.
As for Limbaugh having the free speech right to say what he wants – so what? He is certainly free to be stupid, ignorant and insulting. That’s not what we are talking about! We aren’t talking about free speech! Certainly, the leftist MSM had the freedom to declare that Palin was the basic cause of the Tuscon shootings! Krugman had the free speech right to declare that! So?
What we are talking about was – did he have the ethical and moral right to say what he did? Did Krugman base his comment on facts and reason? After all, he’s a pundit too – according to your definition. Do you support his opinion? Or do you criticize his opinion?
Limbaugh, like it or not, is a representative of the Conservative viewpoint in the US – and he represented that viewpoint as ignorant, bigoted and shallow. He deserves to be criticized for what he did – just as Krugman was.
C’mon ET, Chinese is one of the most *backward* languages in the world.
The West has totally lost its spine.
We get in a fit because someone has a little fun with an ancient, dated language that linguists will tell you is far inferior to English?
God help us.
I think imitating Asian languages in such a fashion is rude and juvenile. A skit is one thing but even that can be poorly done. I think there is a line between satire and imitation and poor mockery. Nevertheless, thicker skins are needed. Besides, the last thing we need is that SOB Hu Jintao to declare how “racist” Americans are with that sort of imitation in his arsenal of lies and threats.
If Rush Limbaugh is a culprit, how did Americans of Asian descent feel when Rosie O’Donnell did it? Oh that’s right! A fat leftist did it. That makes it less demeaning.
Not really.
Sarah Palin must constantly demonised or else. When the furor over Tucson dies down, it will be something else.
Anything than expose the incompetence of the current administration.
She added: “He was, in his own way, trying to attack the leader of another country, and that’s his prerogative as well, but at the same time he offended 13 percent of New York City’s population.”
Did he?
He offended ET. I got that.
But all the other Asian-Americans?
The left would love you to believe that they own all hyphenated Americans.
They don’t
Asian-Americans are a high percentage of small business owners and operators in the US, not just NYC.
They understand what freedom is, entrepreneur spirit. and small buisness with competion is all about.
That’s what Rush is all about.
They also know what the Chinese gov’ts record is on freedom and human rights.
They all don’t vote Dem. (even if Hillary would like you to believe that)
Remember,,, this article is talking about a faux outrage from a hyphenated group the Dems want to say they own. It’s just noise as usual.
No apology Rush.
The Left have to go along way to make up for their hypocrisy in determining what’s tasteful.
Enjoy:

TJ – you must be joking. Or ignorant. Or both.
Chinese is a ‘backward language’? What are you talking about? There’s no such thing as a backward language. A ‘dated’ language? Whew – I never heard of such a term.
Don’t you know anything about languages? They are ‘organic’; they are living, they change their words; they even change their grammatical structure. What linguist says that Chinese is ‘far inferior to English’. What utter rubbish.
And there’s no excuse for Limbaugh ‘having a bit of fun’; it wasn’t funny. It wasn’t a comedy show. He was saying that he couldn’t understand the content of the speech – and was reduced to mocking the language. That’s what a schoolyard kid does when he doesn’t understand something – and when he’s stupid.
Hyphenated Americans? That would have to mean ALL Americans, for ALL Americans, other than the indigeneous, came from other nations. Is there a particular time span when one can finally lose the hyphen and call oneself just an American? Or is one reduced, always, to being a ‘hyphen’, a half-breed.
As Mrs. Meers (Thoroughly Modern Millie) would say, “Shoo-sho, shoo-sho”!
I’m a former WASP, now a Catholic. Get over it, Senator Yee: among other public blasphemies, there’s a Virgin Mary covered in dung, and the NEA pays for a crucifix in a jar of the “artist’s” urine. What did Catholics do about these? They said they didn’t like them—at all—and got on with life.
I am sick to death of ethnic prima donnas, like Yee, who exploit our human rights (sic: it’s only for them!) sensitivities. These people came to the West to escape the barbaric cultures from which they came. And they’re here (North America) because of the dispensation of freedom, bequeathed by the British Christian heritage: you know, the rule of law and democracy. Nowadays, the most horrible things are said about observant Christianity (mainly Catholic) and the British culture (which used to be pretty magnificent before it was dumbed down). I wonder what Senator Yee thinks of this aspect of discrimination. (I’ll bet he doesn’t think . . .)
So, Mr. Yee, settle down—or defend people like me, British heritage Christians, who both made a space for people like you and welcomed you: we could use some support these days. (And we could teach you something about taking your lumps without being a cry baby and running to “mommy” to tattletale and get even—from behind mommy’s back, while holding on to her apron strings. In other words, “Grow up”!)
Sarah Palin? BRAVA!
ET, you try and get on the radio every day, live, year after year, and never *once* get a bit silly.
Perfect 100% behavior please, never a slip or a mistake, or a slightly off-colour joke. Nothing, just pure, pristine perfection, live on the air.
My Chinese friends, who are engineers, scientists, etc., tell me that once they obtain a mastery of English they never want to go back to Chinese, and that they find Chinese a novelty.
I am reminded of Vladimir Ashkenazy who once said that he used to think that Rachmaninoff wrote the most beautiful piano music ever written, as that is what he grew up learning, and that is what every Russian thought.
He then went on to say that he began to study and understand Beethoven’s music, and he realized that even though he would always love Rachmaninoff, there was no comparison between the two, and that Beethoven’s music was in another league.
Same with English and Chinese.
lookout that was brilliant!
Glow up, for Pete’s sake!
It’s incredible to see how many people fell for Senator Yee’s scam. This is a page straight out of Alinsky. The fact that there exists massive outrage over Limbaugh’s comment, but none over SNL’s skit, or Danny Cho’s mockery of Kim Jong -il in his skits ( ” are you saying I am not a good Engrish speaker?), suggests the real source of Yee’s ( and their ) rage is not his mockery of an accent, but who he mocked – Hu Jintao.
Why does the head of a police state – and one that is hostile to the West – deserve any deference?
It would be interesting to hear the thoughts of those presently trashing Limbaugh concerning Charlie Chaplin’s – and others – mockery of Adolf Hitler, the German language, and German culture in the run up to WWII. Was Chaplin’s mockery of another killer, in another era, also an outrage?
ET, I believe you’re being somewhat scrupulous re Limbaugh’s insult. I think it was deserved.
Did you know that Lang Lang played a propaganda piece at the White House? Power Line, quoting an article:
“Lang Lang the pianist says he chose it. Chairman Hu Jintao recognized it as soon as he heard it. Patriotic Chinese Internet users were delighted as soon as they saw the videos online. Early morning TV viewers in China knew it would be played an hour or two beforehand. At the White House State dinner on Jan. 19, about six minutes into his set, Lang Lang began tapping out a famous anti-American propaganda melody from the Korean War: the theme song to the movie ‘Battle on Shangganling Mountain’.
“The film depicts a group of ‘People’s Volunteer Army’ soldiers who are first hemmed in at Shanganling (or Triangle Hill) and then, when reinforcements arrive, take up their rifles and counterattack the U.S. military ‘jackals.’
“The movie and the tune are widely known among Chinese, and the song has been a leading piece of anti-American propaganda by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for decades . . .”
I imagine Rush was aware of this. He’s certainly aware of Obama’s despicable pandering to Communist dictators. What about Obama and his crew? As performances at the WH are vetted beforehand, Obama and his bully boys were either too stupid to know Lang Lang was going to insult the USA or they were OK with that. Either way, it’s a travesty.
And, yes, if Rush’s contributions were usually just juvenile “nya, nya, nyas”, this might be an issue. Under the present circumstance, I’m OK with what Rush did.
Well said, small c!
(Thanks, TJ.)
scc: Charlie Chaplin was a comedian, see the discussion above. Limbaugh has been labeled a comedian by the White House. Do you really want to prove them correct?
We reary take no slight of Mr.Limbaugh and dumbsh!t democrats. President Jintao sending thanks for buying Chineses stuff. Thank you.
lookout – yes, I know about the piano piece – Are you saying that you support such a childish act on their part? That you support ‘two-faced’ behaviour?
They ought to focus on the issues between the two nations – and not play games, where they will, with one face, speak aloud their support – while their other face speaks a ‘hidden language’ which shows their lack of support. That’s not the way adults behave.
The act may have had a ‘back-home political agenda’, to show the government back home not to worry; that the Chinese premier was not going to fall under the mesmerizing sway of Obama, despite the State Dinner. It was juvenile.
Limbaugh was, in my view, behaving like an ignorant child. Do you approve that he was behaving like the Chinese? Mocking and belittling?
I hope that we are better and more mature than that.
TJ- anecdotal reports about your friends are not evidence. You still haven’t explained about ‘backward languages’. And no language is ‘a novelty’. The reason your friends aren’t going back to Chinese is because they are here, working in English. It has nothing to do with the capacities of the language.
As I said – there is no such thing as a ‘backward language’ – and I’d like to hear your evidence for it. Chinese, both classical and modern (and I know both), is as capable of expressing philosophic, computer, scientific and political arguments as any other language. That’s right; as capable as French, German, English, Japanese, Korean..and Chinese. There’s extensive modern research going on in all of science, in all these languages. Language is not a ‘stone’; it’s alive, and more than capable of expressing whatever thought can strive to articulate.
