  3. Gary Indiana (about 25k south east of Chicago) had a wind/rain storm 11.August 2026 and the power is expected to be on again, “maybe today”
    2 weeks without power…
    Gary Indiana is 79% black and I don’t know how relevant that is, it seems to me the infrastructure shouldn’t care what color you are but the somehow the cables don’t self repair and do actually require humans to figure it out.

    2. Same complaint about no power in Gary, IN. 90-100mph winds during severe weather outbreak 2 weejs ago. Same storm flooded eastern IN along IN/OH border. Lots of blame for NIPSCO (Northern Indiana Public Service Co). Like Memphis, TN, most Gary gov’t officials are black.
      The Gary news updates have been amended as credible reports of shots fired at NIPSCO repair crews in Gary become more widely reported. Race hustlers did omit this information since its reasonable for utility repair crews (some from out-of-state) to cease their repair efforts if bullets are flying..

          Okay, I’m gonna need *some* type of explanation. Anyone?

          1. On a guess, I searched to determine if that particular apartment building housed a North African immigrant contingent. The answer is: Affirmative. I can almost guarantee that those are your poop throwing culprits. Usually, it’s throwing used diapers out the window into the street. But, when you have a more challenging target, such as an electrician…sure, why not?

    3. It’s not relevant that Gary is mostly black, but some are trying to make a case of it, as in Memphis. Parts of three nearby towns, majority white, have also been out of power for going on two weeks. (I live south of there.) We get many thunderstorms, and tornados in the general area, every summer but this storm was a durecho, unlike we’ve ever seen.

      People of course were, and are, bitching about NIPSCO (Northern Indiana Public Service Co.) but most have no clue what it takes to restore power to almost 320,000 households, especially in these heavily treed towns where fallen trees and branches are blocking roads, houses and power lines and must be removed first. I do fault NIPSCO for not keeping up with tree trimming in many areas as they must do.

      I neglected to mention that linemen and NIPSCO trucks were being shot at in parts of Gary. And people expect their power to go on quickly after that?

  4. Not the first time this has happened. Hurricane Elvis, in 2003, caused power outages across the city. The area around Jackson and Tillman was out for a week.
    What happens is that tree trimming and line maintenance are areas that can have the budgets cut easily until the next big storm comes along. Somewhere there is a manager at MLGW that was promoted for budget control that found out what happens when you cut those budgets.

  5. Firsthand knowledge: the tangled maze of freeways with multiple on-ramps and off-ramps with severely inadequate queuing space that flies over Memphis is the single worst urban freeway I have ever had the displeasure to drive.

    I’m guessing what kind of people designed that horror show.

  8. Geez all these blacks running the place and it’s not Wakanda yet? Power will be restored Thursday if they don’t steal the copper wires now that the juice is off.
