January 12, 2011: President Barack Obama says that Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords has opened her eyes for the first time since being shot through the head on Saturday.
The president says it happened a few minutes after he left her hospital room Wednesday evening.

    That’s a radically different take from most SDA commenters. I didn’t hear or read the speech, and won’t.

    All is now forgiven for all the campaign promises he never kept. It was really for our own good, because like god allowing the weak to suffer, obamba allows everyone to suffer so that they can know his greater meaning at a later time.

    I listened to part of the speech that Mark Levin cut to during his 3rd hour of the program tonight, Mark’s only said a couple of real comments, like, “it’s a good speech”, not wanting to interrupt the speech at every sentence. If Obama spoke regarding the 9 years old girl, that was while an advertisement was being played, But Mark couldn’t see those T-shirts on the seats either, he apparently didn’t think or know of the Sonora Chronicle article mentioning Rep. Giffords opened eyes… and in radio, once it’s out there, everyone’s heard it.
    I wonder how Mark will see this tomorrow? My disclosure, I’m a Mark Levin fan.
    It sounded to me like an ok speech, just “ok”, and I had few problems with it prior to reading Kate’s posted links (above). Thanks for fact checking this Kate.

Did you notice Gifford’s husband rubbing his chin after Obama said that he had his permission to share the good news – touching or rubbing the face is known as a “tell” indicating deception, clearly Mark Kelly was not comfortable with the charade.

    I’ve been hearing the Bon Jovi song “Lay Your Hands on Me” ringing in my head ever since I read that story.
    That may have something to do with a nasty accident I had when working with a high voltage transformer as a young man, or it just be may be that narcissism and 80’s cheeze go together really well.

Sorry Cjunk for the mistake, excellent work – good eye and thanks for assisting in opening our eyes to Obama’s lies regarding his connecting his visit with the opening of not only Gifford’s eyes, but that of a nation (I’m thinking that is the symbolic connection he was trying to assert). Corny for sure, but I would not be surprised if some reporter uses something akin to that as a headline – probably over at ABC.

  42. This ‘memorial’ was used by the Obama Gang as a campaign rally – right down to the Democratic-Blue T-shirts with his new slogan of ‘Together We Thrive’.
    The audience of students, brainwashed into socialism, cheering for Obama – what kind of memorial ceremony was that?
    Obama’s disgraceful linking of His Visit to Gifford and her ‘opening her eyes’ (she’s done so a day or two ago)…Pure Campaign Theatre for his self-image as a Messiah.
    Obama’s patronizing chiding of ‘we must not attack others who disagree with us’ – sets up a polarizing frame of WE all think alike and those who think differently are not WE. But are Others. That polarization is typical Obama. He’s set up more adversarial differences than any president in memory: racial, religious, ethnic, class, political differences – Obama uses them all to divide and conquer the population.
    Will this new campaign strategy, the Blue Democrat slogan of ‘Together We Thrive’ – will it work? I’m going to say: No. America isn’t just a world of fictional rhetoric and campaigns. It is grounded in reality – and Obama, all his life, ignores reality. Can he continue to do so?
    He can; he’s trapped in fiction and rhetoric. But the world can’t…and I think that reality is stronger than fiction.

  44. Yes, I find it disturbing that so many pundits—Krauthammer, writers at The Corner, Paul at Power Line, and now, Mark Levin—are saying it was a good speech. That HRH Obama was willing to debase the memories of the dead and the integrity of the wounded and their famiies in this circus atmosphere disqualified His speech from any credibility it might have had. (I don’t think there’s anything about the man that would fit the words “integrity” and “credibility”. If He looks like He’s got either, remember, it’s only an act: He’s wearing a smiley-face mask over a twisted and duplicitous smirk.)
    The so-called “Memorial service” was opportunistic theatre from beginning to end. And, it had the usual Obama whopper, re the miracle of the opening eyes: a metaphor for “I am the bringer of light and enlightenment” from the Liar in Chief.
    This speech has to be taken in the context of Obama’s record of lies, thuggery, crass opportunism, and—I could go on. Just watching Him basking in the grotesque cheering of the crowd before the “service” began was enough to put up my hackles: my antennae were already way up. Seeing Obama on His high horse is an ugly sight. He needs to be knocked off. (For the small and literal minded, that’s a political metaphor.) How is it that these journalists, who should know better, have allowed themselves to be hoodwinked by this charlatan? I can see them admitting that the speech was candy to and good campaign strategy re the Left and useful idiots. But to give it a pass on its own merits . . . I’ll be checking out the commentary today to see what’s being said. Maybe after some sober second thought, there may be some reconsideration.

  46. I never watched. I made the comment on the CBC thread that if he showed up with the teleprompter I was gone. After I saw the SDA shot of the T-shirts I knew it was a teleprompter night and BS would ensue.

  48. I saw the speech. To be honest, it does not matter when eyes were opened because it was a 30 second interlude in a 34 minute speech and was not even pertinent to the theme of the speech. This speech just got Obama re-elected for another 4 years. His populatrity has increased substantially and with the improvement in the US economy, he is on his way to a 2 term presidency. The republicans are going to have to hope for the economy to fail and they are going to have to find a real contender to take on Obama. That’s just being realistic.
