Christopher Pauchay, the man who went to prison following the freezing deaths three years ago of his two young daughters, will be released in less than two weeks and does not intend to return to his Yellow Quill First Nation home.

My thoughts and prayers are with those 2 poor litle souls. It is sad that no one will really truly pay for their suffering in the manner that they did. Another abomination of our “liberal” justice system!
Not unlike the fellow in Vancouver who, owing a friend $90,000, decided to stab him over 30 times, yet was released on parole this week after serving just two years. As a bonus for this tidy little murder that presumably cleared up his debt, he’s also expected to be readmitted to UBC law school and work at a local law firm.

It’s not that time flies Cjuck, it’s that it wasn’t very much time.
That said, what’s done is done, and I hope Mr.Pauchay starts making the right choices from here on. I just hope, for Mr.Pauchay’s sake, that his inner circle has not be perpetuating the ‘you’re a victim’ scenario that would feed into the Progressive Native Victimization narrative. This distinction, in Mr.Pauchey’s mind, between being a victim verses being a perpetrator will factor greatly into Mr.Pauchay’s rehabilitation.

As I read the poignant piece about the ‘two little voices’ I was experience a rush of emotions.
I felt anger, then hatred, then frustrations, then … well then I did what I always do when I read this sort of thing … I reminded myself … these are Indians, these are Indians, they are not like us …. then I felt better.
I do the same thing when I read about an honor killing in the Muslim community.

I’m a little slow this morning but could some of the resident trolls please explain to me why this perp gets out after serving two thirds of his sentence because he is unlikely to commit another serious offence and the same law kept Robert Latimer in jail. Oh no wait a minute, Latimer is Caucasian, he couldn’t partake in the ‘healing circle’, now I get it.
We should make it compulsory that any members of that Parole Board that have children use him as their babysitter.

I expect you are correct; and I noted above, that I suspect that feelings of being ‘victimized’ will contribute to his inability to rehabilitate; and that it’s likely that his inner circle is contributing to these feelings, but this is only conjecture. In the programs that Mr.Pauchay attended while incarcerated,I wonder WHAT courses he was given that will allow him to get a job when he’s paroled.
I would hope that the system did more than just have him get in touch with his feelings of inadequacy,brought about by his living in a White Man’s world as an oppressed second class citizen.
I’ll assume that Mr. Pauchay was taught something like the basics of electricity,and is now able to apply for an apprenticeship with an electrical company.
I’ll further assume that in about four years,Mr. Pauchay will have his Journeyman’s Electrician ticket,and will have no trouble finding a good job paying about $35 an hour.
I also assume that Mr.Pauchay will be the poster boy for Circle Sentencing,and CSC’s rehabilitation programs,as together they turned a lost soul into a useful citizen.
And I’ll sing to myself…”what a wonderful world”.
After all, even the prosecutor suggested that two little lives were worth between 2 and a half and 5 years.
A calculation for the value of young life like this is to be expected in a culture such as ours where abortion is a right.
In England a mother could kill those two babies of 1 and 3, claim post-partum blues, and not even be charged.
The Suffragettes won the right to vote against charges from opponents that women had wild hormonal swings and were too unstable to vote, today that instability enshrines a free pass to commit murder.

After the usual legal proceedings he’s sent to an Indian Sentencing Circle, where the case is knocked around by the very community that raised the father. The “circle” recommends no jail time … that the father work the rest of his life helping elders on the reserve constructing sweat lodges and preparing ceremonial pipes. He has, they say, suffered enough.

Latimer spent as much time in jail as he did because he refused to lower himself to the level of the parole board and admit that he was a criminal. That’s what they wanted to hear.
He could have been parolled much sooner but his damned integrity got in the way.
The souls of far too many generations of Canadian Indians (FNs for simplicity) have been vandalized by welfare dependency and collective victim-hood thanks to the Indian act, resultant apartheid and (white-pimping) Indian Industry. Tough love was once attempted in the form of the Residential school systems but failed for some and thanks to historical revisionism from the left and some perverted abusers, is now seen as a disaster, we will never know.
Until real reforms such as privatizing land on reserves and deeding such to individuals along with a scheme to liberate FNs from the dependency of the Feds comes along, the most one can hope for is to glacially assimilate FNs through cross breeding. Unless the “goal” is to keep FNs from joining the rest of humanity and there is a word for that – racism.

plus there was that ‘thing’ that came out around the time of the trial about him having a prior related to a sexual offense against a minor.

His daughter was not independent and was suffering greatly with no hope whatever of improvement. I believe I would have done the same thing given the same circimstances.
He was showing compassion and love and he did ten years in jail to prove it.
We can learn a lot from this sad case.
Unfortunately, in a country without free speech, we cannot talk about in public. We can with people we trust.
