Y2Kyoto: We’re Winning

Now is the time at SDA when we juxtapose!

CCX Members are leaders in greenhouse gas (GHG) management and represent all sectors of the global economy, as well as public sector innovators. Reductions achieved through CCX are the only reductions made in North America through a legally binding compliance regime, providing independent, third party verification by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA, formerly NASD). The founder and chairman of CCX is economist and financial innovator Dr. Richard L. Sandor, who was named a Hero of the Planet by Time Magazine in 2002 for founding CCX, and in 2007 as the “father of carbon trading.”

  1. that is just too funny . . . the market value of carbon.
    And Ontario insists they have to pay farmers 85 cents for their production of “green” electricity when the actual production cost at a thermal plant in Ontario, for the same amount of electricity, is 5 cents.
    They could have saved a lot of bucks buying 5 cent credits on the CCX.

  2. I just read an interesting quote:
    “Charcoal briquettes are now more valuable than carbon credits.”

  3. This would be a good time for all those little Warm-ongers to put their money where their mouth is.
    Buy low, Warm-ongers.
    Well, punks, do you feel lucky?
    Isn’t COP 16 coming up soon in Mexico City?
    Or are you afraid some Whistleblower/hacker is going to spoil your little party again?
    Maybe Al Gore will show up and they’ll have a blizzard in Mexico City.

  4. Bet yeah Gore , Suzuki & the other Climate change whores, have taken their swag out of this now naked bird. Hobbled by truth, it won’t be long before thew wolves find it helpless. Weighed down with untruth.
    It was an artificial construct to begin with. Now it will soon die an unnatural death.
    Thanks Kate! For you & so many Truth diggers for exposing this meta scandal.

  5. @Erik
    No doubt. Saw some articles on him about facing yesterday. I wonder what they offered him to divorce his mind from reason… how does an outspoken skeptic who’s written books on the topic go 100% CAGW all of a sudden??

  6. marc in calgary asks “Are the pensions of the BBC still heavily invested in this scam?”
    Think so…..and to make matters worse, most of the pensions in the UK have heavy exposure to BP.

  7. I’m gonna buy into the market now. I want to take advantage of the “dead cat bounce” and make some money. Quick and dirty.

  8. I’m gonna start selling Chain Holes to these idiots,
    Perhaps fence post holes so they dont have to dig their fences when the ground is frozen.

  9. I could never figure out what the fuss was about. I have no problem with the climate and I live right here on planet earth.
    Those climate FREAKS should spend more time in the outdoors, they might start to enjoy Earth’s climate. It’s great … skiing in the winter, boating and swimming in the summer. They would be a lot healthier and happier if just got a life and get away from all the computers and meetings.
    I just don’t see a problem.
    AND … I know why … because THERE IS NO PROBLEM!
    Other than the idiots who are trying convince us that we need to be saved from ourselves by handing over all our money to them.

  10. This does look sort of like any kind of investment scam:
    1) Build up the hype on the BS you’re selling using Snake Oil tactics. Goverment endorsment works well for this.
    2) Go public and milk every moron that doesn’t understand economics.
    3) The same Snake Oil salesmen and friends in goverment who helped them build up the hype dump their stock on the run up and get filthy rich.

  11. Selling the atmosphere…..a true shysters delight. Makes the old Brooklyn Bridge scam pale by comparison.

  12. My gosh! Air Canada is scamming me when they convince me to buy carbon offsets so I feel good about flying up to the oilsands to work every week!!!
    http://www.aircanada.com/en/travelinfo/traveller/zfp.html
    Air Canada customers have been scammed into buying $248,867 in carbon offsets to date. Air Canada has offset 15,554 tonnes of carbon. That works out to a price of $16/tonne. That is 320 TIMES the current market rate.
    Just think…Air Canada states that the credits purchased are the equivalent of taking 3,850 cars off the road! If they had waited until carbon offsets were at there low point, they could claim that they had taken 1,232,015 cars off the road. Air Canada is obviously ruining the environment by not taking these additional 1,228,165 cars off the road!
    And if that example can’t explain to the densest leftie why carbon credit trading is the biggest scam going, nothing will.
    (By the way, why was Air Canada paying $16/tonne for their offsets? Somebody lined their pockets in a big way on this scam.)

  13. I have an idea. Let’s play “spot the hysteria at CBC”.
    Prizes go to:
    Best example of evasion
    Best and brightest red face
    Best example of contorted logic
    After that’s done, then lets play “find Lizzy May”. She’ll be hiding in one of those “where’s Waldo” type puzzles.

  14. I’d like to hear the reaction from all those scaremongering greenies who dissed Harper for his non-committal stance at Copenhagen.
    Oh, life is good.

  15. I dummo whether we are winning by default, they are shooting and scoring on their own net or whether we have had a breakaway on an empty net.
    That will be for posterity to decide…..
    Currently, the immortal words:
    “It ain’t over till it’s over……..”

  16. Here in BC all Govt agencies have to buy carbon credits from Campbell (Pacific Carbon Trust) @ $25.00 per ton. As a example our school distr has to pay $69,000.00 (money right out of our pockets) We are not allowed to buy them from Chicago…i wonder why?
    We also are paying a extra 4.5c per litre carbon tax for fuel which will be increasing to 7c.
    With all of this there is hardly a peep from people in BC, they just bend over a take it. They yell and scream about the HST but it is a drop in the bucket compared to the above.

  17. No, it aint over til it’s over. Did you know a fair number of our cities and regional governments have become members of ICLEI? Google it. Its goals are:
    Our programs, and projects promote participatory, long-term, strategic planning process that address local sustainability while protecting global common goods. This approach links local action to internationally agreed-upon goals and targets such as:
    * Agenda 21,
    * the Rio Conventions:
    o The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change,
    o The UN Convention on Biological Diversity,
    o The UN Convention to Combat Desertification
    * the Habitat Agenda,
    * the Millennium Development Goals,
    * the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation
    The ICLEI is getting their agenda in through the backdoor via cities and municipalities. In the coming elections – ask your local representative what they think. Don’t re-elect those that think belonging to this group is important.

  18. I wonder how seasonality impacts the carbon trading market?
    For example, the January effect we see in the equity markets, is what we are seeing right now as an impact of the strong salmon run I read about in BC?
    Or is it rather that this whole carbon trading BS is just that.

  19. Out here on the left coast,the mayor of Vanc. is going on a “green” trip to China, along with a few dozen likeminded business men…Object of trip, help the Cinese peoples become more green, and drum up some business, as we lead the children to true enlightenment.. These A-holes make me laugh, and I am sure the Chinese chuckle when they see these”rubes” headed their way.. Its what we deserve out her, as the citizens of Vancouver continuously, elect these fruits and nuts,into power..On a side note, the city parks board put a bylaw into effect today, banning smoking on beaches,in city parks, and municipal golf courses, because they believe second hand smoke is deadly , like chlorine gas. that last was my exaggeration. I dont smoke any longer, I just hate Tobacco Nazis.

  20. From commenter Milwaukee Bob at WUWT
    “AND GUESS WHO WAS THERE RIGHT AT THE BEGINNING? IN CHICAGO….
    From Bloomberg:
    Richard Sandor, Barack Obama and the Founding of the Chicago Climate Exchange
    Legislation to let polluters buy and sell carbon-dioxide emissions like pork bellies is the outgrowth of Richard L. Sandor, founder of the Chicago-based network of people trading pollution permits from Beijing to Brussels known as Climate Exchange. It doesn’t hurt that the six-year-old market got $1.1 million of seed money from the city’s Joyce Foundation, whose board included a little-known state senator named Barack Obama.
    http://www.climateexchangeplc.com/investor-relations/directors
    I would place NO bets against this gang.”
    Too much chance for Obama and his boys to still make millions/billions; the fight to kill AGW ain’t over by a long shot.
