Plus I’m suspicious about the vandalism of police cars in the outlining areas. I think the police were just told hands off. I refuse to believe that the cops didn’t see this coming.

Love how CBC Pravda kept running the video footage in very small and concentrated loops. Even Mansbridge was taking note of it.
Case in point. The CBC should be charged with being complicit if there are prison riots. They must have shown the wall being tagged with the words “burn prisons” at least 15 times in less than 20 minutes of coverage. They have miles of other video from which to choose and they kept focusing in on this image. (they also found another one with roughly the same words and incorporated that one as well)
Think there will be any retribution for this? Me neither. It serves the greater cause.
I really liked the shots of the CBC vans all busted up, then I got pissed, cause now they get to spend more of my tax dollars on brand new vehicle and I get to still drive my 98 Ram P/U which needs a bunch of work to the front end because of all the underfunded things we call roads. On top of that, I have to pay more for gas, ’cause this is summer vacation season, time to raise gas prices and pay more tax. OH! Canada!!!!

May I give some perspective from the (semi) front lines? The Toronto Red Star has its headquarters at 1 Yonge Street. My local Burger King in Richmond Hill is about 40 km north at 10109 Yonge.
The biggest problem in Richmond Hill today was the steady rain, which disrupted a massive amateur baseball tournament. My biggest personal upset was that my local Shoppers had run out of a couple of the flyer specials, since I hadn’t shown up at 8:00 am. During brief let ups in the rain, I was able to go to my local grocery, butcher, etc., on my bike without any problems other than some stray road spray.
Don’t be misled by the TV; most of us here in the GTA are going about life as normal. What’s going on downtown should be viewed as Kabuki theatre, and nothing more. A group of performers come to town to make ritualized protest. Because of the relatively free and open nature of our society, these people are able to wreak a bit more damage and havoc than normal, which – as performers – was precisely their intent.
And I’d suggest that all of you watching these events unfold on TV are complicit in the process, which requires three participants: the protestors, the media, and the viewers. Of all of these, the most powerful is you, the viewers,. If you didn’t watch, these protests would peter out, not so much because of lack of protesters but because of lack of viewers.
It frankly amazes me that all of you, who so earnestly turn ON every stove, light, and gasoline appliance come Earth Day, won’t turn OFF your TV’s at events like this, and deny these stupid, infantile, brain-dead protesters what they want the most: AN AUDIENCE.
If you did – if the network execs realized that the continued coverage of this mindless activity would result in the single sound the execs hate the most – the sound of channels changing – then, and only then, might we be on the way to ridding ourselves of these media parasites, whose lifeblood (and I mean that in the most literal way) is ratings. So, while I won’t go Howard Beale on you (it’s still raining, after all), I’ll suggest that Tomb Raider is on, and A. Jolie’s latex-encased behind is far more interesting than black-hooded sh*t-disturbers. Join me, my friends, in the brotherhood of apathy; it’s the best antidote to these fools.

This seems like a worthy test case for ultra low frequency sonic weapons. The US Army have tested them as a non-lethal alternative. A parabolic dish projects very low frequency sound waves for several hundred meters, causing those in its path to spontaneously lose all control over their bowel function. The police were going to use a sonic device. The protesters took them to court and a sympathetic lefty judge (is there any other kind in Canada?) granted an injunction against use of the device.
Not that the cops would have used it necessarily. They have tear gas and water cannons but reportedly haven’t put them to use either.
Holding this meeting in Tronna was insane to begin with. Either Harper is an idiot, or he knew that there would be violence and didn’t care.

Louise, thank you. I’m glad someone else sees it. Personally, this blog has given me more coverage than I’ve seen on TV, though doubtless it will be inescapable in Monday’s paper. Every time I see a hint of coverage, I hit the remote. I’m not going to be a part of these clowns’ audience if I can avoid it.
