Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Nonsense. The Marmot gleefully cheered that The SCOTUS had kneecapped the BadOrangeman and his tariffs have all disappeared! Yeayyy! Stupid Trump doesn’t know the LAW! The SCOTUS elbowed Trump in the head … and he LOST! Canada WON! Yeay leftist, globalist, free *cough* *cough* trade Canada! You’ve WON!
I read it here.
Trump’s tariffs and threats of tariffs have brutalized the Canadian economy, and an American gloats. But the joke’s on all of this.
Despite Trump’s promises of low inflation and a booming economy, almost every US economic indicator over the last year has been mediocre. GDP growth, jobs growth, inflation, government deficit, even the balance of trade which Liberation Day was supposed to address. There’s no evidence of significant reshoring of industry. Outside of AI and health care, there’s little good news to be found.
And this was predictable. Almost every economist in the land says that tariffs are self defeating. Further, Trump’s antics have shattered the rest of the world’s trust in the US as a good place to do business, which is why nations are scrambling to form new trade alliances. Investors want to put their money into free-trading nations.
All those horrible, terrible, indicators (PS … most of the most recent job losses were government do-nothing jobs) … and yet The Fed refuses to lower rates. It almost appears as though the Fed’s Board of Governors are … political … and not purely financial in their motivations. The new Chief has hit some headwinds of OLD farts digging in their heels … still doing everything possible to strangle the Trump economy.
Inflation is high and GDP growth is low. This puts the fed in a pickle. They would like to contain inflation, which means keeping interest rates high. But they would also like to stimulate the economy, which means lowering interest rates.
Trump, of course, sees this as treachery. No surprize there. But the rate has slowly been coming down from a high in November 2023.
Tut Tut Tut HARUMPH!
Anything else to bloviate about?
Pssst. Inflation is 2.4% and growth is moderate … because the Fed is trying to KILL the economy to SAVE the economy. Too Late. Times up. We can’t take the chokehold anymore.
And gasoline inflation is high as the world becomes adjusted to the new normal of America spanking the shit out of the World’s primary Terrorist State. It’s coming down too.
baloney. high interest rates FEEDS inflation. interest rates involve damn near everything mtgs, a firms working capital, car loans, you name it.
you just contradicted yourself.
No, inflation is over 3%.
https://tradingeconomics.com/united-states/inflation-cpi
And no, kritter, high interest rates reduce both inflation and GDP growth. This is how inflation was brought to its knees in the Reagan administration:
https://www.investopedia.com/us-inflation-rate-by-president-8546447
To quote: “To combat the soaring and stubborn inflation of the previous decade, the Federal Reserve increased the fed funds rate to more than 19% in 1981, with many months during Reagan’s terms seeing rates of over 6%.”
Yeah, “inflation” is a slippery stat that sadly has been weaponized against the American people. From your own post …
Meanwhile, annual core inflation eased to 2.6% from 2.9%, below forecasts of 2.8%. Compared to the previous month, core CPI steadied
Almost every economist in the land have been saying that the global ‘free trade’ system was the only one that worked — the same ‘free trade’ that has bled both my country and yours dry by a thousand paper cuts (and others as well). Economics is a vital part of domestic and foreign politics, but it isn’t the only part — a lot of people seem to forget this truth. Many also seem to forget Rule Number One of economics/investing: never worship the money.
But, I suppose it has gotten them invited to plenty of posh dinner parties, so gotta work that hustle.
And yes, I’m accusing them of something worse than incompetence although we can’t rule that out.
That’s the entire theme of the Trump regime — that the US is so hard done by. Always being picked on.
The rest of the world has no idea what you’re talking about. The US is the richest country in the world, and arguably the most desirable to live in.
Yes, we are the most desirable to live in. Just think how much better we’d be if we didn’t give in to a system that hamstrings us.
There’s lots I would like to say to those who voted Liberal and those who advocate for spineless conservativism. However, my late mom taught by example to always be thankful.
I’m thankful for having my eyes pried open to see there are better countries to live in than Canada.
Canada overpowers the US with its awesome economic leverage. LOL
Canada obviously can’t overpower the US. But the US can’t hurt Canada without hurting itself. This tariff war will have no winners. It’s the Canadian government’s job to convince the Trump administration of that, if that’s possible.
Speaking of which … I’m a regular buyer of 35 can flats of Diet Coke at COSTCO. they’ve been $20.00+/flat for years here. Suddenly, the price dropped to $14.00/flat. COSTCO doesn’t even label it as a sale. The price just suddenly plummeted 30%. I guess those aluminum cans are getting cheaper, not more expensive … ?
Could it some temporary Coca Cola pricing strategy? Sure. But it’s not labeled that way. Oh and PS … the Safeway price of Coca Cola products is laughably unaffordable/unbuyable.
This is just ONE perfect example of how the US statistics on inflation and the price of goods is utter shit.
It is patently obvious what this is all about. The CBC got their marching orders just out in front of when the US and Canada will sit down to discuss the future of the USMCA. Carney realizes now that he requires political cover, because that’s the only way (in his mind) that the USMCA remains active. So, the media is coming out in full force to give him cover by making it look like they are removed from the Liberal government and offering up an objective opinion.
BUT, it’s not objective. I can assure you that they were instructed to do this. They were told to be loud about it. And, they were told to deliver it in a wave of multiple on air personalities. So, when Carney capitulates in the USMCA negotiations he doesn’t suffer as much political damage as he would otherwise.
Here’s the problem. Trump doesn’t want the USMCA to continue. So, he’ll push the limits on what Carney will accept…until Carney is forced to stand up for himself and the Liberal party. At that point Trump will say “fine, start the 6 month disolvement clock”, while simultaneously finalizing a bi-lateral trade agreement with Mexico (the US’s largest trading partner).
Exactly right.
What Canada gets for Carney showing his ass.
Yup.
The CBC squawks because the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) talks.
The whore, Katie Telford, used to brag about calling up newspaper editors.
Canada is a Shithole because of these people.
And there is no cure in sight.
I have a suggestion if anyone has a connection with Ezra Levant and Rebel News. They should file the equivalent of a Freedom of Information Act request directly to the Canadian Broadcast Corporation of those parties that are featured in this article. I think Canada calls it the Access of Information Laws. In the US, our primary for this sort of action is Tom Fitton at Judicial Watch.
You can’t apply the Access of Information Laws to the Prime Minister’s office. They are exempt. BUT, you can apply them to the other party (The CBC), especially since the CBC operates on Federal Government money. Were I Ezra, I’d request any all communications received via email from Marc-André Blanchard (Chief of Staff) between the dates of August 1st and the present to those parties commenting above in addition to the CBC as a whole.
It’s a fishing expedition, but totally legal. And, Ezra might just hook a big one. This is an obvious media white wash effort. And, the directive likely was handled by Marc-André Blanchard, just like former chief of staff, Teford.
Meanwhile … Trump is just buying more time as he repatriates more American manufacturing jobs. Our elbows are busy doing … actual … things.
Jobs, jobs, jobs for legal American citizens.
https://x.com/Geiger_Capital/status/2085727884417572925?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E2085727884417572925%7Ctwgr%5E0234184175fc5c03ae20986c7450c6ad3b902fa8%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Finstapundit.com%2F815374%2F
Glorious.
“BUT, it’s not objective. I can assure you that they were instructed to do this.”
I have to agree. It was too sudden a change to be real, especially since the Liberals are still paying the CBC (and others) millions of tax dollars to say nice things about them.
Trump wants to annex Canada through economic warfare, and doesn’t care how much damage he does to his own country in the processs. There was never any chance of winning against Trump. There’s only going to be losers on both sides.
The only hope Canada had was for the US congress to pass a bill forcing all president-imposed tariffs to be subject to congressional review, as is their constitutional right. It would have taken a super majority to override a presidential veto. At least seven such bills were introduced, but they never had a chance against a Republican-dominated senate and house.
Right. Because President Trump wants to add 25 million demoncrap socialist voters.
I don’t think Trump gives a crap about the Republican Party. He obsesses over his own legacy. He wants to be known as the president who annexed Canada and Greenland.
Oh give it a bloody rest. Your whining is tiresome. Trump is undoing the damage done by the autopen President (would be interesting to know who had his hand up the back of that brain dead puppet). And that is why more Canadian investment goes into the U.S. than all foreign investment put into Canada.
Undoing the damage? Inflation remains high, GDP growth has slowed, and jobs growth has pretty much stopped. Meanwhile, the government deficit is soaring and 30 year treasury bond yields are as high as they’ve been for 20 years.
https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/DGS30
and how do we know the autopen was very busy?
simple. compare the signatures. a person does not draw that line precisely the same twice no matter how many times.
the autopen does nothing but.
thousands of signatures by a machine and biden didnt even know it was happening. he still doesnt and never will now hes too far gone.
Undoing the damage?
Yes. Undoing the damage:
https://www.smalldeadanimals.com/2026/08/08/august-8-2026-reader-tips/#comment-2121171
Things may not be great now, but they’re a helluva lot better than when President Autopen was in power.
Right. Industrial production rose 4.6% at an ANNUALIZED rate, which means the quarterly increase was around 1.2%. That’s good, but almost all the growth was in April for a variety of reasons, some having to do with the Iranian conflict. It didn’t repeat in May and June:
https://tradingeconomics.com/united-states/industrial-production-mom
So Breitbart’s “renaissence” is a one-month spike. Seems a little early to be popping the champagne corks.
If these numbers came up under President Autopen’s regime, the left would be squeeeeeeeing all the way to the printing presses, hailing the massive success.
It doesn’t matter that it’s a short spike. It doesn’t matter what qualifiers you use to discount the effect. According to all the shills critical of the tariffs, this cannot be happening. Period.
And, further:
https://instapundit.com/815389/
And they would have been equally wrong.
Month-over-month (or even quarter over quarter) industrial production is jittery. It’s full of large spikes in both directions. You can prove almost any thesis just by cherry picking the right time interval. Far more informative is year-over-year industrial growth, which sums industrial growth over the last 12 months.
https://tradingeconomics.com/united-states/manufacturing-production
Note that industrial production has increased by 1.1% over the last year. This is decent, but hardly the massive resurgence promised by Trump.
And it’s certainly not the negative that all the tariff schills have predicted. At the risk of repeating myself, according to all the “experts”, this shouldn’t be happening. According to them (you may consider yourself among the counted), the US economy should be going to hell in a hand basket, which it obviously is not.
Yeah….undoing the damage. GDP in the U.S. is considerably higher than Canada. Job growth continues in the U.S. and what you are seeing is the size of government falling. Government jobs are worthless….they contribute nothing to GDP….they are a net drain. Core inflation is under control….nowhere near what it was under Puppet Biden (and your favorite hero, Fauci). Perhaps you have a government job.
It is better than many economists expected, but not much. The AI data centre boom is helping a lot, and it’s anyone’s guess when that will peter out. But “not as bad as expected” is hardly a ringing endorsement of Trump’s policies. He promised prosperity “like no one’s ever seen before.”
He promised prosperity “like no one’s ever seen before.”
Jesus Christ, you just don’t stop wiggling, do you?
All of you tariff critics swore that they were going to kill the US economy. They. Have. Not. Done. So. The economy is growing, period. Growth is growth.
Admit it. You were wrong.
So the US has gone from promises of low inflation, low oil prices, and unbelieveable prosperity, to “growth is growth.”
I guess we’ll find out what the voters think of that in three months.
Why would Trump care to annex Canada? That move would increase the wealth of the average Canadian by a million dollars.
Not really. The wealth of Canadians is held not in Canadian dollars, but primarily in property and equity.
How are Canadian property and equity (public and private) markets doing, if I may ask?
Property prices are going down in the major centres like Vancouver and Toronto, but are pretty stable in the rest of the country. Canadian equities have done very well, outpeforming US markets. But keep in mind many Canadians own US equities.
How very interesting.
Because while Canadian private equity had a boom in 2025, it appears to be contracting thus far in 2026. Hmmm, credit exposure and liquidity issues????
And while Canadian public equity through the S&P/TSX has appeared to performed well, there has been a rather obvious decline in public listings long term — I’ll leave you to ponder what that means for structural integrity vs. recent trading.
And just why are those property prices going down (rather significantly)? Do you have a housing bubble? And what is your government signed on to as a corrective? Ah, taxpayer funded government rental units — you will pay to make your children and grandchildren renters, owning nothing. Great idea; I wonder what sort of investment value those will have down the road?
You are hilariously stupid. You seem to think that the comparison of the DOW to the TSX is some kind of indicator. By the way, Canadians have the highest household debt level among G7 countries, with household debt reaching 103% of GDP and 177% of disposable income.
“There was never any chance of winning against Trump. ”
FINALLY, you catch on.
The only way to mitigate the potential damage was to play nice and give President Donald Trump something he could call a win. If Canada had a Prime Minister with the maturity and foresight to do so, we wouldn’t be having this discussion right now…but no, we had Mark Carney and his Elbows Up IDIOCY instead.
(and of course all his avid cheerleaders like you supporting him)
Everything that is about to happen to us we richly deserve.
Exactly. Good comment Fred from BC.
Who goes to war against their most important customer? Idiocy on display by Canaduh.
“the potential damage was to play nice and give President Donald Trump something he could call a win.”
Actually, Carney did. He cancelled the planned Digital Services Tax at the request of Trump. Didn’t seem to appease him.
And for good reason. Most of Trump’s complaints aren’t real complaints. They’re excuses. He didn’t give a damn about 43 lbs of fentanyl when 1000 times more fentanyl was pouring north over the Mexican border. Nor does he give a damn about Canadian dairy cartel, which he agreed to in the USMCA. These are very small potatoes.
“Most of Trump’s complaints aren’t real complaints. They’re excuses. He didn’t give a damn about 43 lbs of fentanyl ”
He claimed that he did, and that is all that matters. And that was well before the discovery of the Canadian SUPERLABS producing far more fentanyl than we admitted to.
“when 1000 times more fentanyl was pouring north over the Mexican border.”
Another debunked Liberal talking point.
” Nor does he give a damn about Canadian dairy cartel,”
Again, he claims that he does…and that is ALL that matters. If Donald Trump says it is important, it is important. PERIOD. Pretending that you can see into his mind and discern his ‘real’ motivations is irrelevant in the real world and will make zero difference to these negotiations.
“which he agreed to in the USMCA. These are very small potatoes.”
Canada also agreed to adhere to the USMCA, then immediately started playing games on parts of it like steel and dairy. Trump is not having it, not anymore.
Like it or not, the bottom line here is unchanged since the very beginning of this: Canada WILL give President Donald J. Trump what he wants. We could ideally have done so without all the bluster and juvenile bravado (and damage to our economy)…but we just don’t have a serious enough leadership for that.
We told you all this, right at the very beginning, but you refused to listen….your rampant TDS over-ruled your intellect. I note with some amusement the obvious walkback of some of your previous positions, as you begin to realize that your continued denial of the truth here will only expose you to more ridicule and derision from those of us who have always used our heads, *not our emotions*, to analyze this situation and form valid, defensible opinions on it.
Nice damn post, Fred.
There is so much nonsense in that post that it would take me an hour to unwind.
Canadian Trump supporters seem to view him as an avenging angel sent to punish Canada for its progressive sins. CANADA HAD IT COMING! they cry gleefully.
Except it’s not Trump’s job to punish Canada. It’s his job to serve the American people, and he’s doing a crap job. In his presidential campaign he promised lower inflation, lower energy prices, and prosperity beyond imagining as industries scamble to reshore back to the US. He’s flatly failed in the first two, and the economy is at best moribund with few signs of reshoring. And he has massively eroded global trust in the US in the bargain.
And the new rounds of tariffs are just more of the same. Destruction without purpose. Canada IS going to lose, but so will the US.
Still upset by the revelations about Fauci and COVID? You’ll get over it….eventually.
“Trump wants to annex Canada through economic warfare, ”
well then there isnt a blessed thing new that hes doing hasnt been going on for the last 60 years. the complaint was ‘Canaduh just a branch plant economy’ Trump was just cutting his teeth building apartments in NYC.
the complaint was also the yanks had completely taken over senior academic positions in Canaduhian universities and wd hire OTHER americans for teaching positions.
see?
Canaduh has a habit of forfeiting control over our own affairs. now its the Chirese doing it. because he “admires” their “basic dictatorship”. all a Liberal thing and because Canaduh votes predominately Liberal.
ANYTHING orange man does to Canaduh is because Canaduh chose leadershit that lets him. its why he played us like a fiddle when it looked like Poilievre was going to be P.M. and plays Carnage like a fiddle now.
mr banker. more like a bank teller.
killer unME
Trump’s 51st state comment was to TurD’Hole’s whining that kanukistan could not meet NATO’s 2% of GDP commitment for military spending, bc climate change. Try keeping up FOOL !
It wasn’t a comment. It was multiple comments, repeated about every two months. And it’s been repeated by his own secretaries as well. At some point you’d have to be stupid not to take it seriously.
And it worked. The majority of the Canadian populace and its government acted as predicted.
You should always take things seriously, but not always literally.
However, the reaction has been of such a kind as to open up opportunities not initially thought of; we’ll have to see what happens.
Carney has been pretty calm, focusing on “things we can control.” On that, at least, I give him credit.
“You should always take things seriously, but not always literally.”
That has always been the case when dealing with President Trump. People should have read his books for some insight into his tactics.
Wanker NME. Misses UnMe. Literally cannot stop talking about him. True love. Like his infatuation with Colonialista. Too funny.
STFU GYM.

Frankly, I wish Colonialista was here, he did a great job of bitch slapping you constantly. I can understand why he left. You’re not a slow learner GYM, you are a non-learner.

Trump wants to annex Canada through economic warfare…
Oh, horseshit.
To what end? Ego, as you suggest above? You really don’t have a clew, do you? Why would Trump go through all the effort of economic warfare to annex us when all he has to do is send a coupla companies of Marines across the 49th & set up a platoon in a few Timmies parking lots? The [spit] Progs would wet themselves, curl up into the fetal position, start sucking their thumbs & hand over the keys to the country.
I love how Trump’s defenders are forced to deny that Trump is serious about things he constantly repeats. And not just him, but his secretaries as well.
Does Trump think he’s going to be president in four years? Yeah, I think there’s a part of him which is truly that delusional.
I love how all the TDS’ers take every word coming out Trump’s mouth as gospel. Once again, it throws into sharp relief the fact that they’ve never read his Art Of The Deal. And if they have, they never paid attention to his bargaining tactics.
And, Trump could be president in 2-1/2 years. Here’s a little scenario to make your TDS infected head explode: Trump runs for VP. Vance runs for President. Vance wins, then resigns…
I love how Trump’s defenders pick through his comments, declaring which ones are sincere, which are half sincere, and which are utter bullshit. All in an effort to convince everyone else that Trump is not a complete loony.
But now you have to explain why Trump’s remarks about annexing Greenland are sincere, but his remarks about annexing Canada are bullshit.
When you’re forced into that nonsense, you may wish to consider the possibility that you’ve backed the wrong horse.
“I love how all the TDS’ers take every word coming out Trump’s mouth as gospel. ”
I love how they call him a moron or an idiot or a loony, as if he somehow became a billionaire and then the US President (and thus the most powerful man in the world) by accident.
The idea that Vance would win the presidency and then resign in favour of Trump is knee-slapping hilarious. If Vance won the presidency, he would hold on to it with every fibre of his being, just like any other politician. Nor would he want a loose cannon like Trump for VP.
I didn’t write “would”, I wrote “could”. It’s precisely the sort of leftist Faustian nightmare that keeps the [spit] Progs & TDS’ers (BIRM) awake at night.
Further to this annexation bullshit…
Taking over Canada & Greenland would be like the 12 yo neighborhood bully taking candy from the 6 year old girl next door. That’s some accomplishment to line your autobiography with…
If Trump used military force to annex Greenland or Canada, even a Republican-dominated congress might take action to pull Trump’s teeth. Trump knows that full well.
“Force”? What “force”? Like I noted, a platoon with no ammo in their rifles at half dozen Timmies, this place collapses like a house of cards.
And, you may wish to reassure all your fellow [spit] Progs & TDS’ers out there that Trump is merely joking. ‘Cause there’s a helluva lot of them w/ bumper stickers & window posters out there that actually believe this shit.
You are the delusional one. You have shown that over and over again.
You spelled “lying” wrong.
Trump constantly repeats that Rosie O’Donnell is a big fat dumb talentless tub of goo. All these things are true. But they’re also meaningless insults. Sticks and stones, eh?
Oh wait. I’m dealing with a Canadian Marmot who actually believes there are things called Hate Laws and Mean Speech Laws (for some protected thin skinners) that should be taken deadly seriously. And punished.
So glad I live where my FREE Speech is protected by the US Constitution. And Trump’s is too.
At this point it is tempting to annex Canada simply because there are far too many tiresome Canadians such as yourself — we could annex Canada and deport the likes of you to Europe, where you can continue to debate “free trade” and the evils of my President and my country ad nauseum in a nice, safe little echo chamber across the pond. We can send our blithering idiot socialists and libertarians who have decided to side with the left over with you as company. We’d all be far happier.
I am of course being flippant…but am I really? It does rather sound like winning rather than losing to some degree.
Huh? You sound an awful lot alike our new rising stars of communist “DSA” candidates who wish to do away with the Executive branch altogether. I guess it’s OK if the Executive Branch throws open our borders … but not OK if it protects American industry.
Pssst … we have this thing we do here in the US … we elect a NEW POTUS every 4-years. Every 4 years … The People throw out (or keep) our top Executive. I’m sorry that Canada has some archaic system that weds you to FAILED PM’s for a decade or more … but please do try to keep up with our “Democracy” (Democratic Republic). And speaking of Democracy … senators serve 6-year terms (longer than POTUS) and while House Rep’s serve 2-year terms … find me more than a handful who don’t get re-elected for 20+ years with NO term limits whatsoever. In PRACTICAL terms … the least ‘Democratic’ part of our government … are the two bodies with NO term limits.
We REPLACE our POTUS … so elbows out!
Too bad WE let things get to this point, eh?
Butt Jamie
Just don’t vote for Max, to send a msg to the cucks to wake them up:-)))
I see the Covid troll has found a whole new area of ‘expertise’ to troll about, since Covid is not going its way anymore.
Starve the troll, people. Starve it hard.
In other news, previously the #Lieberals lied about “getting tough” with the USA on trade, and now they’re lying about making a trade deal.
You know how many new ALREADY APPROVED infrastructure projects have been started this year, so far? Zero. You know how many are going to start the rest of the year? Zero.
That’s why we call them #Lieberals. It’s the constant prevarication. It never stops with these people. And I use the term loosely.
Go easy on the Marmot….he is still smarting from being sucked in by Fauci’s propaganda.
Heh.
When President Trump mocked Dear Leader,Justine…Canada’s “elites” threw a tantrum.
Donald Trump did not make Canada into a bankrupt state of thuggery.
Donald Trump did not corrupt every government institution in Canada.
Canada became a kleptocracy all by itself.
State suicide was the “Progressive” choice..
But when our self appointed “elites and dear leaders” spazzed out, revealing how weak and stupid they are,the USA administration saw opportunity.
We are bankrupt.Defenceless.divided.. unwilling to do those thing any nation must to continue existing.
We have become a failing state threatening the USA’s northern border.
Sitting on immense natural resources we refuse to develop them.
Borrowing debt without end to fund welfare.
Lying about defence..well everything else as well.
Trump Derangement Syndrome perfectly demonstrates the delusional world Eastern Canadians live in.
Natural losers will always lash out, attacking any and all who accurately describe their idiocy.
Trump pointed out, that “The Emperor has no clothes”.
The followers of our Liberal Dear Leaders, threw a temper tantrum.
And finally, even the Dead rat finally acknowledges what any sane observer already knew.
Canada cannot win a trade war with the USA.
Yet that simple obvious fact appears to play no part in Canada’s Actions to date..
“Elbows Up”.
