Apparently, the police apprehended 412 protesters last night. From photos and videos taken during the day, they were able to identify the perpetrators of violence and take them into custody.
I hope they throw the book at these jerks. I also think we need some kind of program whereby a**holes like this who do property damage are forced to give back to the victims of their crimes. If they have a job with a salary, part of it should be garnisheed or, if they don’t have a salary, they should have to do some work for the state with part of their wages being given to the victims of their crime until they’ve paid off the damages.

The “protesters” who are burning Toronto to the ground are Mayor Miller’s people. This is his constituency. Miller is an anti-capitalist, anti-American, progressive nut-case and just prior to the summit he was encouraging Americans to visit Toronto during the G20. What an interesting vacation that would have been.
The centre of the universe gets rocked. I have never seen the eastern media so giddy. As the rest of the country gives a collective shrug.
The violence was only in a very small area according to Jonathan Kay. The talking point is still valid; this damn conference should never have been hosted in Toronto. I would prefer we not bother attending as they are usually just a strategy session for statists.

Less in the sense that there are less people here in the first place perhaps. If Saskatoon’s federal ridings didn’t all include vast chunks of rural Saskatchewan, I guarantee they would all go NDP.
My political opinion (defending Israel, for instance) is almost universally unwelcome among people in Saskatoon I didn’t meet specifically in a shared political interests context.

As I watched the destruction of police vehicles I kept thinking how peaceful and controlled the mob was compared to Quebec City. They never got near their objective, the fence, no matter what they did to try and lure the police. The police (under RCMP command) was calling the shots. The Toronto police was the junior force.
What struck me the most, however, was how often the media – CTV and CBC – kept talking about the cost of security and the $56,000 “fake lake”. Then the mayor gets up and can’t understand why Toronto’s idea for holding the meeting at Exhibition place wasn’t used. As a “world class city” – and I use the term loosely – you would think that they would have followed their logic further. For example, where would Obama and his 1,000 person entourage bed down and dine for the 2 days. Why, they could go to the hotels and we would motorcade them to and fro to the fenced off hotels.
I don’t think I ever heard Pittsburgh or any other city say hold the next meeting at a remote resort; only Toronto. The next one is in Nice, France Mr. Miller. That’s a world class city on the Rivera.
A job well done by the security forces and Mr. Harper for well run and productive meetings regardless of the “unbiased” reporting from the Toronto-centric media.
I thought the suspension of all citizen rights was the most frightening, given that the police knew of the black bloc and let them go to it. But then I found the comments on this site. I don’t expect justice on earth but at least Kash Karma happens now & then. Not all comments here “thank God” are of this scary type but rarely have I seen such shut tight minds and flowing raw anger. If only we all could have the luxury of lives untouched by any adversity, no need to STAND for anything other than to SIT AND PROTECT our fat complacency. Well no worries for us, that falls to our kids eh? ..I hope that Toronto The Good gives a good fight and does not just roll over. The cops can escape most consequences being above the law and can present the “truth” to their liking. Citizens often lose alleged civil rights. If you missed the charade played out this weekend, you were one too many deep into the beer. My only hope is that every soul who thinks he/she is exempt from police actions falls into the hole that suddenly pulls the ground out below. The re-education is fast!! and oh yes painful.
