Just Milk

In a surprising development, two senior Saudi clerics today said that Saudi Arabia’s women should give their breast milk to male colleagues and acquaintances in order to safeguard the Islamic law that forbids mixing between the sexes. The clerics, however, failed to reach an agreement among each other on how the milk should be conveyed.

… just wondering, how does this apply to 9 year old wives?

  1. Got Milk?
Jeezus … just when you think Islam can’t get any more ridiculous it, well, does. Whatever respectful tenants Islam may have for one to practice for one’s own spiritual well-being are overcome by its radical jihadis, and these moronic fatwas.
I’m sorry, that comment wasn’t very culturally sensitive, was it? Looks like I needs me sum re-edumucation.

  2. “Obeikan’s remarks were followed by an announcement by another powerful Saudi cleric Abi Ishaq Al Huwaini, who asked women to allow the men to suckle the milk directly from their breast.”
The degrees of insanity it took to even visit such an idea is mind boggling. Do they think all female breasts have milk all the time?

  3. I need MORE bleach for my eyes after reading that. (thanks Kate) (-;
My-god, have these people gone insane?

  4. Don’t blame Islam, this is obviously due to pressure from the powerful breastpump & domperidone pharmaceuticals lobbies.

  5. Just to be clear…Islamic culture requires women to wear full body sacks, face masks, be home bound unless escorted by a male relative to preserve their modesty and prevent male lust. Beast-feeding unrelated adult men to establish family bonds, OTOH, also preserves their modesty and prevents male lust?? ’cause allowing men to suckle you wife’s boobs won’t cause lust or jealousy. Great job of rational, logical reasoning there, guys.
PJM has an interesting interpretation of what this means for infidels:
“Now, here’s the real problem (from an infidel point of view): If, in the year 2010, Muslims still feel compelled to be true to “adult breastfeeding,” simply because 7th century Muhammad said so, surely they wholeheartedly embrace their prophet’s thoroughly documented and unequivocal words concerning the infidel.
Look at it this way: the issue of adult breastfeeding is embarrassing for Muslims; far from providing them with any sort of advantage or benefits, it places them, especially their women, in a ludicrous position (indeed, it is ranked first in this list of “top ten bizarre or ridiculous fatwas”). So why is it still a relevant issue among Muslims? Because Muhammad said so. Thus, like it or not, Muslims must somehow come to grips with it.”

  6. A few years ago there were some yahoo/msn groups advocating for this. But they were a lot more inclusive as membership wasn’t only for the clerics, their peons or to uphold islamic edicts.
    I’m just sayin’.
anyway, there are quite a few groups in the first world that are helpful in making this arrangement for newborns that are not able to take milk from regular moms and are with inadequate milk supplies. The clerics that make the decisions for the islamic peons.. I have no answer for this, they do seem to be overly concerned with the sexual health of their captive women/wives though.

  7. Like the recent ads, I’m sure all men will enthusiastically respond with:
    MUST DRINK MORE MILK!
But this will likely conflict with the other injunction that revealing a woman’s ample bosom may cause earthquakes.
Hope they have all got their earthquake kits ready…a little DONNER und BLITZEN will be coming their way.

  8. Oz: Muhammad’s wife was 9 years old.
    ~Kroket
Aisha, Muhammad’s wife, was indeed 9 years old, three years after Muhammad married her at the age of 6 years old.

  9. Well so much for us decadent infidels bein’ “breast obsessed” Hmm wonder if I will get an answer from Pammie Re my generous e-mail offer to become a “relative”.
“Have they gone Insane” Dustoff that is an insane question, or an oxymoron take your pick. Buncha Boobs ya ask me.
    Cheers Bubba

  10. This is a result of the Royals who wallow in immense wealth sitting on high throne like seats with nothing better to do than practice looking wise while fantasizing about bizarro sexual adventures.

  11. This is pure insanity of the sickest order. Even lowly animals have more scruples.
    Decrepit, sick bastards.

  12. Well that fatwah makes about as much sense as drinking Allah’s pee for good health, and no I’m not kidding the Koran is clear that his urine was a miracle drug.

  13. I agree with this.
It’s an effort to get around the straightjacket of punctilious Islamic law and allow more women in the work place.
If a women has to give each of her male colleagues 5 liters of milk in jugs and claim it came from her breast, it’s not a bad dodge if it gets them around the strictures and they become gainfully employed.

  14. You know they could just go back to ancient Persian practices requiring that men working with married women become eunuchs (or at least a ritual nick). That would also allow more Muslim women to venture into the workplace.
Hmmm….It would also make Muslim guys virtually indistinguishable from western liberal metrosexuals – covert assimilation(?)

  15. Dustoff at 12:01 PM:
“My-god, have these people gone insane?”
    Gone insane!?
These people started at insane and are now heading in a direction that can only be described as… ?? … well … as …
Damn! No matter how I try I can’t come up with anything remotely descriptive enough…

  16. Does this really surprise anybody?
“Gone insane!”? It has been a precondition for 13 centuries.

  17. It isn’t insane to try and find a workaround when the barrier is an unreformable religon that permeates their culture to the core.
This milk thing is an attempt at a workaround of the rule that women cannot be unaccompanied by male relatives in a workplace with adult non-familial male colleagues.

  18. It’s not unreformable, Oz. They just keep beheading any Luther that dares stick his head above the mob. Western enablers (white guilty liberals) assist by not ruthlessly mocking/challenging the absurdities that come out Islam.
I get what you’re saying – it’s better than the existing situation and you are correct, but to me it is participating in the delusions of the mentally insane. It is similar to the AAP calling FGM “cutting” instead of mutilation and announcing the harm reduction strategy of ritual nicking. The basic rights of women are subordinate to some mythical greater good.

  19. Wonder if Prince Charles has heard of this? Recently he publicly admitted to being an admirer of the Muzzies and the Koran and he would most likely think this is a rational idea. Might even enjoy it.

  20. It’s not unreformable, Oz. They just keep beheading any Luther that dares stick his head above the mob. Western enablers (white guilty liberals) assist by not ruthlessly mocking/challenging the absurdities that come out Islam.
I believe that Islam can’t be moderated.
It’s already been tried and you’d know that if you’ve studied it’s history.
Osama bin Laden and the Wahabbi/Salafi Muslims are the reformers.
They’re bringing wayward Islam back to it’s roots.
They are Islam’s Luthers and, no, they aren’t getting beheaded because they are doing just what the historic Muhammad would do if he were here today.
But if there is any chance, however slim, of moderating Islam it’ll start with creating a way for Muslim women to enter and impact the functioning economy, making them integral to it’s continued health, and giving them some economic clout at the household level.
Challenge from outside makes no difference.
Worse than nothing, it pulls Muslims together to face the outside threat to their religion by the infidel.
If infidels criticize their fatwas, rulings about how to comply with the unchanging tenets of the religion itself, it does nothing to change the underlying rule that prompted the fatwa.
This milk fatwa is a way to get around an obdurate rule that would keep women out of the workplace where strange non-familial men are present and turn those same men into “family” under Islamic rules so that these men are viewed, under the rules, as chaperones rather than sexual threats.
Now those same women, with the new chaperones present, can have service jobs where they interact with strange male clients who come to the business to be served without actually having a son, brother, husband, father, male cousin or uncle present.

  21. For a simple workaround adult adoption could be an alternative.
    ~ChrisinMB
Adoption isn’t a part of Muslim culture.
In fact, adoption isn’t a part of most Asian cultures.

  22. They were reforming. Egypt, Turkey and other countries were opening up opportunities for women in the mid 20th century without having to share breast milk with non-male relatives. Then the fundamentalists took over (backlash towards modernity?). If they had the ability to move in that direction before, why exclude the idea of them doing so again.
Actually, if you study the history of most major religions and cultures, you can see periods of fundamentalism and barbarism interspersed with flashes of evolution. I agree that current Islam is stuck in the barbaric phase and may never evolve. I disagree that we should pretend that their ridiculous solutions are rational or reasonable. Siding with the fundamentalists certainly isn’t helping Muslims who are attempting to reform and modernize. The West should not be embarrassed about standing up for women’s rights.
Then again, I guess if Mr. and Mrs. Muslim complain about airport screening or removing face coverings for voting/drivers licenses/ court then we could whip out the adult breast-feeding fatwa, share some milk and proceed. BTW, how is this going to work for non-lactating females?

  23. Repeat after me: “snake handling hillbillies.”
Say this every time you hear of some new, Onion-eske behavior from the Religion of Piece-es. Snake handling hillbillies. Every religion’s got ’em.
Admittedly, most religions don’t let ’em run the place.

  24. Also, there is good news. Girlies have started putting the boots to religious police in Saudi Arabia. Probably asked her for some milk eh?

  25. Ken (Kulak) 3:29 AGW is one of the reasons he loves the Muzzies. Can’t go off topic so I’ll put the link to his entire speech in the proper place tonight. Fascinating stuff.

  26. Clerics want men to drink breast milk and Charles wants to be Camilla’s tampon, makes perfect sense to me.

  27. These are the folks colinizing this Nation to turn it into another Sharia run murder State with NO individual rights.

  28. Egypt, Turkey and other countries were opening up opportunities for women in the mid 20th century without having to share breast milk with non-male relatives. Then the fundamentalists took over (backlash towards modernity?). If they had the ability to move in that direction before, why exclude the idea of them doing so again.
The Wahabbi/Salafi movement(18th Century) isn’t new, comes from Saudi, predates Egyptian and Turkish moderation/heresy, and the Saudis control the Haaj, the Caaba, and Mecca/Medina.
The Wahabbis have been footing the bill for an estimated 90% of the Islamic world in terms of building mosques and Islamic schools since the tripling of oil prices in the 1970s.
This has caused the Saudi interpretation of Islam to viewed as the “gold standard” of Islamic thinking and interpretation in much of the Muslim world.
I should mention that the Saudis are also “the Arabians” and the holy texts of Islam are written in their language, about their culture, and the Saudis are the ultimate interpreters and last word concerning any debate about meaning or application.
As I said above, Osama bin Laden(Saudi) and his ilk are the reformers and they’re bringing Islam back to it’s roots.
Every tactic they use would be the same that “the Prophet” would use and they can prove it from their holy writ.
If there will be any lasting moderation in Islam, it’s going to have to start in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia first.

  29. LC Bennett @4:30 – the thing is that Turkey was “oppening up opportunities for women in the mid 20th century” not because it wasn’t “fundamentalist”, but essentially because it wasn’t “Islamic”. I assume you know about Kemalism.

  30. Someone should give them some heads-up that breast milk will only curdle in their coffee 🙂

  31. I wanted to share this bit of mid-east craziness with friends but it just somehow….. lacked something.
I know. Presto. PhotoShop creates Rage Boy with a ‘Got Milk?’ mustache.
    That’s the ticket!
