Mischief Is Important

  1. “America is great, primarily, because our Declaration of Independence explains our rights come from our creator, that we are endowed by our creator with life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Our Founding Fathers clearly believed that they were a revolutionary people, that what they were doing was fundamentally breaking with the history of the human race.

“Jefferson writes repeatedly about Empire of Liberty; the sheer power of a constitution where YOU are empowered, attracting so many people, so desirable worldwide, that it could ultimately undermine czars kings and emperors. Americans believe that because we are so remarkably free, our country is truly an exceptional nation.

“The Annapolis state room has statutes of members of the Continental Congress, with George Washington who’s come to put down his sword. He didn’t seize power. They’re all seated except Washington. When King George III heard Washington had voluntarily gone home to Mount Vernon he said, ‘if that’s true he is the greatest man of the century’.

“So they call upon Washington to consider two core questions; 1) how to have a government strong enough to defend against British French and Spanish invaders, and 2) how to prevent that government, your necessarily powerful government, from taking away your rights.

“Montesquieu in his book, The Spirit Of The Laws, says ‘the most stable system is where you divide power three ways; a legislative branch, an executive branch, and a judicial branch balanced against each other’. So they sit there in Philadelphia, argue it out, design this government around a line from Madison; ‘if people were angels you wouldn’t have to worry about government’ and their answer was to divide power, in order to protect you from those to whom you loan power to. That’s the heart of America.”

    Newt Gingrich.

    1. The Declaration is the conceptual framework, the Constitution is the organization and detail.
Jefferson wrote the Declaration … which I personally put on the highest pedestal … above our Constitution. It tells the Constitution how to be written.

Jefferson didn’t participate in writing the Constitution. I guess he was an ‘idea man’, not a lawmaker. But ohhhhhhh mommmmaaaaa … Jefferson owned slaves and reportedly bred with slaves … so our esteemed colleges no longer respect or teach Jefferson. We are a doomed country and culture if we retroactively erase our history …

      1. The consensus is, it was Thomas Jefferson’s brother who fathered children with his slaves.

  2. Gotta love Tamara. The government of Canada made the greatest disservice to Canadians when the folks in power REFUSED to EVEN MAKE AN EFFORT to interact with the “small fringe minority holding unacceptable views”; and when these people decided to “interact” with the convoy, it did through thugs that may not even have been Canadians, on horses and unmarked military gear. That was a day of infamy, forever etched in my mind. I stand proud with the convoy and flip, to Trudeau and Carney, the bird.

And would someone school the photographer on the importance of “Fill-in-flash”!

  3. Can you believe that the Canadian government is *still* trying to jail her for SEVEN YEARS?

    For mischief (!)

They spent about 15 million dollars of our tax money the first time, and are poised to spend probably 20 more this time. Bastards.

    1. well ya know, this is just a random musing, but, BUT it would utterly delight me in a sci fi thriller way if *someone* *somehow* with connections, resources and know how, track down the legalists that WONT GIVE UP, abduct them, torture and record it, then everyone with muffled distorted voices, REMIND them why ‘this is happening’, then lop their heads off, and stick then on a pike or fence post or some other very prominent location a 4 a.m. when no one is looking.
send a C——O——-L——-D message to those with ‘their hands on the levers of power’
go past a certain point and bizarre very deadly ‘things’ happen.
but, hey, ‘not that lm advocating this’ just a hypothetical sci fi fiction kinda way . . . . .

      1. “it would utterly delight me in a sci fi thriller way if *someone* *somehow* …”

It would utterly delight me if Canadians (finally) showed some effing balls and spine and stood up and angrily spoke out against the suppression of their freedoms.

  4. Love you Tamara! You are the very definition of a patriot … and minuteman … dropping your own life to fight in the righteous battle for Freedom! You’d make a GREAT American up there in the 51st State (sorry).

  5. Patriot indeed!

Non-citizens are eligible and so Trump should award her the Presidential Medal of Freedom. She deserves it of course and it would have the additional benefit of driving the left in both countries absolutely bonkers.

    1. I’ll drink to that.

However, the danger in that for Lich is that it could make Ottawa even more obstinate and double down on its persecution.

  6. Miscalculation by Lich. It’s possible to demand improvements to Canada without embracing the US president and his cronies who seem intent on annexing Canada.

          1. “And I’m definitely not playing stupid games, especially when you insult.”

I already knew you’d take the COWARDLY way out, and not answer.

        1. “Do you seek Poilievre sucking up to Trump?”

Would you rather have him do that, or watch Canada slide into a full-blown depression?

It’s a simple question…and there are no other options: pick one, and be honest about it (for once). Don’t dodge, don’t equivocate…just answer the question you are asked. Which option *of those two* would you choose?

          1. Poilievre doesn’t suck up to Trump, so I have no idea what you’re talking about.

And I’m definitely not playing stupid games, especially when you insult.

        2. Aligning with the Trump economic and trade policies isn’t “sucking up”….it is the right move because he is on the right track. Carney is operating much like that cover of the old National Lampoon where a gun is pointed at the head of a dog with the caption….”buy this magazine or we’ll shoot this dog”. That is what Carney and his imbecilic followers are doing to the Canadian economy.

          1. it is the right move because he is on the right track.

Restricting trade is not the right track. It runs counter to almost every economist in America. Trump has aligned himself with fringe economic theories.

As one example, the deliverable price of a aluminum in the US is US$5990 per metric tonne. In Canada, it’s US$3100. This is not entirely due to tariffs. The Iranian conflict also figures in. But in a free market, such price discrepencies are near impossible. Both American consumers and manufacturers are paying the price.

    1. KM, Lich was embracing the concept of freedom and those who espouse its righteousness, something she fought for with the Freedom Convoy.

      1. Trump is no freedom fighter. He tried to bring one of the single biggest tax increases in American history (fortunately rejected by the SCOTUS) and he’s trying to annex countries and territories.

        Lich has aligned herself badly.

        1. Still banging on with the “tariffs are a tax on Americans” rhubarb? pssst. Never materialized in my Amazon Shopping cart. Now … my insurances have spiked +22% three years in a row.
pssst … I know EXACTLY what I pay for everything … and no tariff has “taxed” a single consumer good I buy.

Go peddle that shit down at the ‘true conservative’ TDS Club.

          1. no tariff has “taxed” a single consumer good I buy.

Your naivete is just adorable, but there’s no possible way you can determine that when you buy an item in the store. Someone has to pay for tariffs. Technically it’s the importers — usually manufacturers, distributers, and retailers — but ultimately it’s the consumers.

Here’s an article on what the price of aluminum is doing to auto manufacturing in the US:

            https://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/cars/news-blog/automakers-worried-about-new-aluminum-shortages-raw-material-prices-45135229

Vehicle manufacturing is a global industry . Those companies building outside of the US now have a cost advantage due to lower (that is, tariff free) aluminum prices.

          2. KM, one article about one product doesn’t prove anything, especially given the lies constantly told by the regular media.

In this case it’s a WSJ story the article is based on.

          3. LS:

First, it’s more informative than what you guys link to, which is nothing. Feel free to link to an article which rebuts it.

Second, aluminum isn’t just any “product”. It’s an essential material used in countless manufacturing processes. When it increases significantly in price, inflation increases and companies can go out of business.

Third, the same idea applies to other tariffed products: steel, copper, lumber, potash, you name it.

            https://www.nahb.org/advocacy/top-priorities/building-materials-trade-policy/how-tariffs-impact-home-building

            https://farmdocdaily.illinois.edu/2025/02/tariff-threats-and-us-fertilizer-imports.html

If the US truly wants a competitive economy, it would ensure that its raw materials are as cheap as possible. Tariffs do the opposite.

          4. You missed the part where I said that I know EXACTLY every dime I spend. So if I was “taxed” by Trump’s tariffs … it was pennies. Inotherwords …utterly irrelevant.

OTOH … I JUST got this years Property Tax bill in Friday’s mail … and my County Assessor jacked up the ‘valuation of my home by $82k … the largest increase in “value” since I moved here in 1983 … in a currently depressed housing market. Which will translate to an additional $1k+ in property taxes. Now THAT is a tax I notice. It’s a not so veiled “wealth tax” … which is outright Communist. Not your nonsensical “Trump tariff tax”.

          5. KM, there have been so many lies printed and said about Trump, his administration, and his policies going back to his first mandate that I require a lot of convincing before I believe anything I read of hear.

You’re just another voice that keeps piling on the crap.

          6. KM, you give the game away when you use the phrase “Trump’s fat orange arse.”

          7. What, you didn’t know that I considered that power-hungry, corrupt, arrogant, conceited, lying, profoundly incompetent man to be a horse’s ass till now?

          8. I won’t “argue” with those guys except to say … we have just experienced a TRULY ‘ ‘transitory’ period of energy inflation while Trump took out the Terrorist State of Iran’s nuclear capabilities. And I JUST filled my tank at COSTCO … which was $0.75/gal. Cheaper than when I last filled up. It’s over. Check those … transitory … inflation numbers in another month.

Nothing else in my life has inflated in value .., in fact, lots of SALES on products I use regularly … I saved some righteous bucks, Hamilton!

    2. I don’t see how showing respect for your neighbours on a holiday important to them constitutes “embracing the US president”. But, clearly it amuses you to tell such insanely offensive lies.

      1. There’s a difference between showing respect to America and kissing Trump’s fat orange arse.

        1. For a … ‘true conservative’ … you’ve sure adopted the language and … wait for it … insults … which you decry … employed by the unhinged left.

          1. ebt just called me liar and you had nothing to say to him.

            Save me your hypocrisy.

          2. I have been called some remarkably vile things on this website for the act of sometimes disagreeing with the general viewpoint.

But one of the few times I return fire, and you’re all over it.

            No, you’re a stinking hyocrite.

          3. You are obviously lying. What’s he going to say to me, except maybe, “thanks for pointing out the obvious”?

        2. Wait. You just called me a hypocrite! And you live in Canada, eh?
          That’s HATE speech!
          That’s ASSAULT brotha!
You best turn yourself in to the RCMP for some reeducation.

  7. Improvements?
That’s like living in a sturdy sound house with a good foundation.
That shifts , the house is off kilter and it’s settling .
You don’t improve anything, you start over.
Think what you like ……. But one big improvement would be progressives blue and red picking the sht they ignored out of their noses.

  8. It’s nice President Trump supported Tamara Lich. Shows someone at the highest levels of a government recognized her dignity and right to freedom.
