    1. As ugly inside as she is outside. Go back to Africa and catch Ebola you commie puke.

    1. I’m here in New Jersey and my central air broke about a month ago. I refuse to spend the money right now to get it fixed so I can, um, “build character” (or something). Luckily, I still have a window unit and I installed it in my master bedroom. It got up to 96° early last night in the second floor bedroom that is perched over the garage. I think that’s a record for my house.

      1. When I was a kid, we would stay at grandpa’s place south of Oliver every summer. I loved it, being at the orchard, it was a magical time of life and a magical place for me. Yes, it was hard work for him, but you don’t see that as a kid.
Anyways, being summer in the OK, everyday was mid 90s, 100ish for daytime highs, and yeah, nights were warm. I slept in the upper bedroom of the peak of the farmhouse. Windows open, screens on, with the tick tick tick of the orchard sprinklers, and the odd coyote wail.
It was hotter than hell to sleep.
        Those were the days!

      2. I’ve never had AC until last year … and I’ve still never used it … because of PG&E rate rape. But I am very fortunate to live JUST over the Berkeley hills from the SF Bay … ideally situated such that we get beautiful sunny weather when the fog is making Oakland the coldest winter in summer. But after the heat builds up to near intolerable temps … the natural AC of fog getting sucked into the Central Valley cools us off … and the pattern repeats. So, I’ve always been able to open windows at night and keep the house perfectly cool.

        but

There CAN be long stretches where the heat persists and my upstairs gets beastly HOT. My poor children sweltered through a few ‘bad’ summers … but that’s why we invented sleeping outside in the back yard. In my latest remodel I shot several inches of foam insulation into the attic. Completely sealing the roof sheathing. Ironically … the State Title24 now mandates the same thing … a layer of insulation at the roof sheathing … and heavier batts at the attic level. It’s kept temps tolerable most of the summer.

  1. There have been better speeches by American Presidents than the one delivered by DJT at Mt. Rushmore. But not that many, in 250 years. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s.

  2. I’ve got no tips, but as proud father of an American girl, Happy 250th. I lived through the 200th, so, well, what a heck! Let’s celebrate!
Historical Note: My son and daughter are descendants from both the German “mercenaries” that were brought to find the revolutionary war against those rebellious colonies and the freaking French that fought against the British in the Seven Year’s War. We’re a walking cognitive dissonance!!!!
    Happy 4th!

    1. Some Hessian soldiers were allegedly buried on land my ancestors owned during the Revolutionary War. There were also a couple ancestors who fought too.

    1. Well stated!:

“The visual effect was even worse, as Mamdani delivered the speech while seated at a desk that seemed to be turned the wrong way around, while surrounded by a social studies-book array of glum-looking, unsmiling, unhappy people, all black and brown and hijabed and whatnot and all forlornly holding small flags of the country their mayor despises, with a single grim-faced white guy standing in the back (as is his place).”

      1. Now you’ve put your foot in it.

Just idling a few minutes before The Game.

  3. Off to march in an Independence Parade and have a Cookout with the family later.
Am very excited that Hillsdale posted the Revoltuionary War movie as it did not make into a theater around here.
The celebrations in DC look to be AMAZING!
So blessed that we separated ourselves from England!

    1. Thank you. Eternal vigilance. The tea has to go overboard from time to time. MY President has been busy dumping the bad tea out of our country as fast as he can. I mucho approvvo

  4. We celebrated Canada Day by putting Canada in the rear view mirror and am presently in Spirit Lake, Iowa for the 250th. The vibe across the spectrum in the USA is nothing short of wonderful. Everyone we have met has been very hospitable and generous. I am grateful to our American neighbors, to be able share in on their Independence Day festivities.
    God Bless the USA.
    Canada?
    Like Carney says, “Who Cares”!

    1. We celebrated Canada Day by putting Canada in the rear view mirror…

Us, too. Hung around Flathead Valley in MT for a week. Would have liked to stick around for the big party today, but had a previous engagement today that I simply cannot break.

And, agreed, the vibe is great.

  5. What I don’t like about high taxes is you don’t get the service that is proportional to the taxes you pay.

I do feel sorry for Taylor Swift and her $337,000 annual tax bill for a home. Same applies to the rest of us, just that our homes aren’t worth $28 million. Do they cart her garbage away in white gloves? That money goes to the deep state.

    1. Free Speech OZ … it starts and ends with FREE speech. There’s no such thing as hate speech … unless you’re the type who gets their feelings hurt by what other people say. And those people are weaklings … living in weak lands. Ya gotta be TOUGH to be a Real American. Rugged. Action talks, bullshit walks.

  6. L – Dr Jordan B Peterson’s tribute for America’s 250th Anniversary.

Jordan B Peterson is the most world famous, accomplished and influential public intellectual Canada has produced.

Ironically, due to endless Canadian fed. government censorship laws. Prof. Peterson is a political refugee, living in freedom in the United States. Where Constitutional Rights still exist and are defended heartily.
