  1. Uh-oh… advocating for improvement in the lives of ordinary Aboriginal folks… great way to get the wealthy, corrupt Aboriginal political elites and propagandists to call one a “racist”… Wait for it…
Noting “racist” about pointing out that many, many ordinary Aboriginals still live in intolerable conditions despite billions and billions of tax dollars being shovelled into the Aboriginal communities each and every year. I blame the political elites for the problems (and not just the Liberal ones in Ottawa, but the wealthy Aboriginal politicians, too). The Conseratives desperately want to help, but how can they, under current circumstances? For one thing, the Aboriginal elites refuse to agree to allow Aboriginal women to have equal rights!
Politically-incorrect, inconvenient truth, yes, indeed, but if it’s not expressed, then ordinary Aboriginal folks will never see improvement in their lives, thanks to politics, corrpution and greed.
I care about regular, ordinary Aboriginals.
The selfish, greedy, dishonest, defamation-practicing politicians, however, can go fend for themselves, like they force their own people to do.

  2. sturdy housing and flush toilets you say,
I’ll see that assimilation and raise you:
    Steel
    Guns
    Eye Glasses
(ok . . Technology in general)
    Alphabet
    and the most benevolent, Christianity.

  3. The Reserve system here in Canuckistan is no better than the gulags or plantations.Indian Affairs should be completely demolished. But then it is a system that keeps the politicos,Indian advocates and rich Indians in power, and it isn’t going anywhere without a hell of a fight, from BOTH whitey and the Indian who wants to improve.

  4. Obviously not as much as you Retard Slayer. I tend to be ‘right’ because I believe the right is far more compassionate than the left and the right is actually capable of rising beyond the emotional pap that passes as the intellectual leftism. I actually believe that any person of any skin colour or gender is best able to determine what is best for that individual. Now if you think that you are incapable of deciding what kind of house you should live in then I’m sure some leftist will be more than willing to decide the type of hovel that is best for you.

  5. I see retard slayer is one of those that profits from the current system and wants his personal gravey train to continue and uses any means necessary to stop reform.Puts greed before people.

  6. *
call me crazy… but how about we
go with… “one people, one law”.
    i know, i know… forgive me.

  7. If an Outlander may offer a comment –
A couple of years back, I was watching a TV special about the horrible Spanish coming to colonize the ancient lands of the Aztecs. The evil and greed of these oppressors, and their infliction of Christianity upon the hapless natives, was presented in terms to inspire fear and loathing, as HST would have it.
But at one point, the program showed pictures of the ‘stair-step pyramids’, which were designed in a specific way to cause the bodies of the dying ‘sacrifices’ being thrown down, to tumble and flip and thrash about, spewing blood and entrails to create an impressive show for spectators. Dozens of innocent people were sacrificed, gutted and displayed on each pyramid daily, with hundreds being butchered on ‘holy days’. One of the film producers asked a female sociology professor if it wasn’t perhaps good that the invaders had at least stopped the murder of tens of thousands of captives, young girls and slave-children each year. Her reply was,
“Well, we white people must learn not to judge them harshly; after all, this was an accepted part of their culture long before we came along!”
Same as the dhimmis justify ‘honor killings’, child rape and throwing acid in the faces of girls wanting to attend school – done by godless muslims. So my point is, that as has been mentioned above, if aboriginal peoples around the world detest non-indigenous inhabitants, fine. Set an example for us by refusing medical advances, electrical items and mechanical improvements, and so on, and live like Al Gore would have you live, eating wild herbs, berries and roadkill heated over a dung-fire, digging latrines downwind from your hovel, and riding bicycles made by Chinese slaves when you go to the shaman. Good luck!

  8. Despite the misconceptions Canadian Sentinel may promulgate; “billions and billions of tax dollars” do not flow into aboriginal communities each year. Further, former PM Martin made great advances set forth in the Kelowna Accord, with the vast majority of First Nation leaders in agreement. The Accord addressed the needs of education, housing, healthcare, employment, childcare and self governance as pertaining to the First Nation people. This Accord has been tossed aside by Harpo, just as his government does all it can to continue to disenfranchise First Nation people, rather than giving them a true voice in self determination.

  9. “one people, one law”… Neo.
Now that would be racist because then people would be treated equally. Equality is racism. What the left want is “equity”. What everyone needs to do is go back and read 1984, Animal Farm and Brave New World again. Only this time keep in mind that the crazy people are right and the good guys are actually evil.
The Reserve system is the worst thing that could happen to the Indians. They never did assimilate into society. I’ve got a lot of friends who are Indians. None of them are from the reserve. They grew up in the city. Got jobs, got married, had kids etc. Normal folks.

  10. Hate Indians much?
Posted by: Retard Slayer at May 10, 2009 3:12 PM
Nope, not me; not even the tiniest bit. Read my comment carefully and try to understand, if at all possible. Good luck. Read everyone else’s comments, too, carefully, and try your best to use your brain, unless you were born anencephalic, in which case you may be excused.
By the way, the correct term is “Aboriginal”, you ignoramus.
The people of India are Indians, understand?

  11. Hey T, you got a copy of that there Kelowna Accord that we could take a look at? Or even a link?
I will await for you to provide the details.

  12. “Well, start with the fact that the birth rate on reserves is twice that of society at large.”
And the problem with this is?
Our fertility rate is only about 1.6.

  13. Fred, I was with you until you got to christ-inanity. Silly superstition doesn’t benefit anyone in the long run, only truth will set you free, but if it floats your boat…keep it where it belongs…to yourself.

  14. “Hey T, you got a copy of that there Kelowna Accord that we could take a look at? Or even a link?”
I’d like to see that too.
In the meantime the Conservative government continues to settle land claims at a rate never achieved by the Liberals.

  15. Native leadership on reserves has learned much from the Liberals, things like graft, theft, corruption and abuse of power.

  16. Oh, hi there again, “T”.
*Sigh* (I actually did sigh right now)…
Listen, you sound like nothing more than a Liberal propagandist. I mean, it’s blatantly obvious.
I suspect that you are actually one, and not a regular citizen giving his honest two cents’ worth.
Sure, I support the Conservatives, yeah. But I’m not a professional propagandist or community organizer or anything like that. I just believe that the best hope for Canada’s future is in the Conservative Party, not in any other party. And, yes, I also help to convince others of this truth, as well. But, really, I’m just a regular guy with a blog. That’s all.
You, on the other hand… promoting Kelowna… gimme a break. You know that the Liberals always look for ways to direct money to their cronies, and I’ve never, ever, EVER seen a Liberal program, deal, accord or whatever that didn’t obviously do that, and fail to achieve its lofty, beautifully-propagated “objectives”.
I opposed Kelowna because I don’t trust the Liberals in anything they do, especially when it costs billions of tax dollars. The Liberal Party has already proven, decade after decade, that they aren’t trustworthy with our money or with anything else, that they’re just greedy and corrupt, and they have, since being dethroned, demonstrated that they haven’t changed one bit, except for the worse.
One thing is undeniable. The average Aboriginal in an Aboriginal community doesn’t enjoy the standard of living they would enjoy if they were allowed to be equal to all other Canadians and live wherever they pleased. Unfortunately, something is stopping this from happening. And we must find out what it is and say so, regardless of political incorrectness and inconvenience, including pointing fingers to the players responsible for this unacceptable state of affairs. There must be accountability, including, where applicable, of the criminal sort.
After all, it’s simply criminal, what’s being done to regular, ordinary Aboriginal people, despite nearly ten billion dollars a year being spent by Ottawa to supposedly quickly improve their standard of living.
What the hell is going on? Who is stealing the money? Yes, a lot of money is obviously going missing. If I’m wrong, then what on earth happens to the billions of dollars per year we give to Ottawa for the purpose of helping Aboriginal people progress and be equal and everything else applicable to non-Aboriginals?
Have a lovely Sunday evening, “T”.

  17. “By the way, the correct term is “Aboriginal”, you ignoramus.”
Then why does the Canadian Govenment call “Indian and Northern Affairs”, Indian and Northern Affairs?
Indian is an okay word. They are North American Indians and East Indians are East Indians.

  18. Well philboy, I would say socialism doesn’t benefit anybody in the long run. I do keep my Christianity to myself. Do me a favour and keep your inanity to yourself.

  19. Isn’t this (more or less) what generally happens with government-provided housing?

  20. Off topic, but a few questions for the troll.
Would those “retards” that you slay be the ones that Obama wishes to bowl with, or my down’s syndrome brother?
In your attempt to insult the folks at this blog, you have wound up showing us what an intolerant bigot you are as far as the mentally handicapped are concerned!
I must conclude that “retards” are fair game to leftoid jerkoff artists now that Obamarama has insulted them and Sarah Palin gave birth to one.
    PATHETIC !

  21. Yes, Hello Birdy, Indian is an “ok” word, but, still, I consider it a word with the potential for causing confusion and misunderstanding.
When I refer to folks from India, if I call them Indians, well, I know that some folks will think I’m referring to Canadian Aboriginals. Then I may have to say, “No, no… I mean people in India”. See what I mean? I just wish Christopher Columbus wasn’t so confused about the folks he met when he came to North America…
That’s why I prefer the terminology I use.
Besides, one would expect the Leftist idiot “Retard Slayer” to be more precise, to show off his supposed “sophistication” which, after all, Leftists like to pretend to have, but don’t.

  22. Good points, Kingstonlad. The troll is as daft, boorish and ignorant as Obama. Hell, maybe it IS Obama. Here without the permission of Puppetmaster Soros. Boy, is Papa George ever gonna be pissed off at his puppet…
ON the other hand, we know an incredibly boorish, mean-spirited Canadian dude who works as an attack clown for Ignatieff and who has been stupid enough to insult Christians, women politicians and the Chinese, to name just a few. Wouldn’t surprise me if the troll is the infamous Catmeat.

  23. T at 4:05 PM
T, since 1867 the lieberals have governed Kanada about 75% of the time, so tell me with all that time at their disposal they haven’t disposed of the Indian file WHY?????

  24. BTW….in my younger days, when I had more energy, I would take groups of up to 10 mentally handicapped adults bowling…..maybe the POTUS and his “progressive” minions might want to try it once or twice….it might lower their intolerant bigotry a notch or two!

  25. I have a question. Why would anyone give retard slayer the dignity of capitalising his name,or any troll for that matter?

  26. The term Indian is still legally necessary as it is at the heart of the Indian Act, reserves, Bands, etc.
The terms Aboriginal and Indian are often interchanged but their meanings are quite different. It is entirely possible to be:
    – Aboriginal but not Indian – you meet the Constitutional definition of Aboriginal but are not a status Indian per the Indian Act;
    – Indian but not Aboriginal – with no Aboriginal ancestry, pre-1985, you acquired status by marriage and are therefore a status Indian. However, without ancestry, the Constitution would not recognize you as Aboriginal.
    – both Indian and Aboriginal – you have Aboriginal ancestry and are a status Indian pursuant to the Indian Act.
Generally, Indian is not considered the most appropriate term to use except in this legalistic sense.
    JC

  27. “East Indians are East Indians”
I’m so confused – I thought they were South Asians.

  28. 4:49 Philboy wrote a response to Fred
“ Fred, I was with you until you got to christ-inanity. Silly superstition doesn’t benefit anyone in the long run, only truth will set you free, but if it floats your boat…keep it where it belongs…to yourself.”
Philboy… the truth will not set you free. You have to know the truth first and then the truth will set you free. Check out the original quote in the Bible, John 8: 31-33. (NIV) Odd that someone who thinks Christ-ianity a silly superstition would try and use a misquote from the Bible to prove a point.

  29. I prepose every Politician, of every party, should invite there Native friends to live with them in harmony in their homes.

  30. When the concept of private property is allowed to take root in Indian country and people actually have to build and own their own homes instead of relying of corrupt, mismanaging band councils, then things like this will not happen. Time to dismantle the Indian Act and the Department of Indian Affairs and let the money flow from the people to the leaders that they elect. Enough of this letting band councils control all the money that ultimately comes from the rest of us.

  31. “Sandy Bay Indian Reserve story that everybody but The Black Rod missed.”
“Black Rod”‘s story is a Headline from last August to the effect that there is
“No housing crisis in Sandy Bay: council”
This is supposted to refute MSM comments about crowding. From the first quoted part — “band administration refutes claims it is ignoring housing needs in the community.
The band currently has 110 units either being built from scratch or undergoing major renovations”
Well you can’t live in a house undergoing rennovation, can you?
And down the post, where Black Rods invective starts to take over there are quotes to the effect that much of the housing hasn’t been completed.
Black Rod doesn’t give a link to his quotes and I can’t find the actual article on the paper’s website, but a casual reading of what content there is shows that Sandy Bay does have a housing crisis.
    http://www.cpheraldleader.com/Search.aspx?search=sandy+bay
It’s enough to make one look favorably on the MSM

  32. Well you can’t live in a house undergoing rennovation, can you?
    dizzy
    certainly an apropos monikker
sure you can, I redid the whole interior were I live, while I lived here, even moved the bed room’s location, try again!!!!

  33. Say, this story reminds me of the pygmy one at 10:20 AM. But instead of the pygmies its us taxpayers.
PabloNH asked: “Isn’t this (more or less) what generally happens with government-provided housing?”
Yes, but generally the occupants aren’t quite as efficient at destroying the housing as this lot seems to be. It usually takes ten years to turn a housing project into a condemned pile of rubble soaked in rat barf. These guys managed it in a single season.

  34. This is a classic example of the failures of socialism. With no concept of private property, how can one expect people to take care of something that they don’t own? As an example, look at the state of the average public toilet compared to a private toilet.
The solution to the problem is to give Native Indians a one time payout either in ther form of a chunk of land or cash and tell them they’re on their own. If they are wise they will invest the money and stop living in poverty. If they’re stupid then let them fail of their own accord.
The current system has resulted in an entitlement mentality which is pathetic. When I was working in a walkin clinic in Vancouver I would regularly get natives coming in asking for a prescription for 10 gravol. They would get quite upset when I told them that gravol was available without a prescription as they didn’t expect to pay for any medication. Thus, instead of their spending perhaps $1 of their own money their 10 gravol they would cost the system about $36; $25 for my fee at the time and $10 for the pharmacy dispensing fee. I’ve also had one individual reject a prescription for 60 gravol to save him trips to the doctor as he only needed 10 (despite coming in every week or so for a prescription). Fortunately this type of pathologic thinking seems to be limited to city Indians and the ones that live in the interior are a lot more self-sufficient.
As far as correct terminology goes, whenever I do a medline search “American Indian” results in the most references. I’ve yet to have one of my Indian patients here in the interior refer to themselves as “aboriginal”. This too seems to be a city term.

  35. “And what screams assimilation louder than sturdy houses with indoor plumbing and flush toilets?”
    Using them.

  36. I jsut dont understand why these builders build houses with busted up bathrooms..walls busted up… put broken windows in the window frames…why do they build houses like that…it it all such a joke…the houses they build are in the same condition as anyone elses house, until they move in and wreck it…what a joke this is……

  37. To all the confused about what is an Indian and what is a South Asian and what is an aboriginal …
Just call them what describes them best. For example. If I am talking about Canadian or American Indians I simply state that they are American or Canadian Indians. I call Indians from India, East Indians. I am never sure what a South Asian might be so I go generic on that one unless I happen to know a specific tribe or culture that they may be attached to.
I know it can be very difficult when one tries to be politically correct in all matters, all the time, but those PC goal posts are constantly being moved. So … I just ignore them and life is much simpler.
I might also mention that the term Indian came from ‘Indios’ Meaning ‘of God’ … Know one who reached the shores of North America knew what the people were so they were referred as people of God’s realm. That morphed to Indian. So it seems not a bad word. It has history … has legs so to speak.
Now in the area of black vs, African America, vs, people of color, vs Negro, vs … well that’s another story. Who knows what they are calling themselves nowadays? You almost have to ask in each case because they don’t agree on what they should be called either.
Maybe we could call them Obamians … sort of the god Obama’s children. Soon we may see a Department of Obamian and Southern Affairs. they could put it in New Orleans where the Mayor calls it a chocolate city. Not Mayor Willy Wonka, Mayor Ray Nagen the same idiot who was Mayor when the flood came. He failed to build the arc because of George Bush or something like that.
Anyway all these names and all this political correctness hurts my head. I’m not good at religion either.

  38. Metis Urban housing in our town gutted and renovated one of their house in our town. Young couple moved in last fall.
The guy leaves, or is kicked out. Sh has the place.
One weekend, she is at her boyfriends in Cold Lake, and no-one is supposed to be home. Some kids have a party, the place is trashed.
She’s now moved out, to Cold Lake. Who knows when the place will be liveable again. All in all, a minor deal, when compared to other incidents.
Man I’ll tell you, this and other examples of social housing, don’t EVER let them get a foothold in your community. These hold underachieving scrubs, with NO investment in the property,. Why would they really give a f$ck? They have no stake!
That is the flaw in social accomodations.
You want it, you earn it. Like the rest of the world.

  39. “”Now in the area of black vs, African America, vs, people of color, vs Negro, vs … “”
I just call them Canadians or Americans:-))))

  40. Eastern Paul –
Metis Housing is a little bit different than regular housing authorities. They get money through a direct agreement and have to decide how to allocate it themselves.
I read the Kelowna Accord. I don’t see where there’s ANY commitment to spend money in it. Merely the federal government promising to help achieve goals. None of those goals needed money, the funding is there, it’s just a matter of getting it done.

  41. better read it again andrew.
yeah it all looks like its for free. this was in the first 3 pages.
    • Supporting new housing initiatives, building on best practices, that span the
housing continuum, including emergency shelters, transitional and affordable
housing, social/subsidized housing, home ownership, and the repair and
    maintenance of existing housing stock;
The Government of Canada is prepared to make investments in the off/non-reserve
context, recognizing the responsibility of provinces and territories in the area of
housing. Innovative Aboriginal housing agreements among the federal, provincial
and territorial governments, First Nations, Inuit and Métis, and Aboriginal housing
providers, with flexible funding arrangements, will be developed through regionalbased
discussions, recognizing differing circumstances and existing relationships.

  42. So does this mean it’s a bad thing to knock a hole in the bathroom wall in order to provide water to the horses?

Only if you let them drink from the toilet.
    😉
A personal ‘pet’ peve of mine.
Back on topic, so many times I witnessed like easter Paul this merri-go-round, Natives (and that’s how they refer to themselves from my neck of the wood) are given housing, appliances, furniture and etc., all supplied by tax dollars, then the place is trashed within months. They’ve moved on and will get another place no problem, no questions asked of them, the units are fixed and the next demolition crews are moved in. On and on it goes.
