1 – Money. How else does a Mor(m)on like Mitt Romney get elected governor?
2 – Sympathy. He got in the first couple of times because people still remembered Jack and Bobby. But, most important:
3 – The Senate seniority system. Currently, only Robert Byrd has more time in the Senate than Kennedy. This gives Kennedy enormous clout on a number of committees, which of course ensures he can deliver the pork to his state. Follow the money!
