Ann Sticks the Knife In … and Twists

Coulter has an uncanny ability to hit moving targets … don’t ever give her a big stationary bull’s eye:

According to the wiretaps, New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer was delighted to be getting the prostitute “Kristen” again. At least he knew her name. It took Monica Lewinsky’s boyfriend six sexual encounters to remember her name (raising his lifetime average to 8.2).
You know that queasy feeling you get thinking about Bill Clinton back in the White House again? Now you remember why. Hillary Clinton couldn’t feel worse about the Spitzer case if she were an actual New Yorker.
[…]
It’s absurd to talk about Spitzer’s problem being “hypocrisy” — as if everything would be fine if only he had previously advocated legalized prostitution.
It’s absurd to talk about “alpha males” and political power — an alpha male does not bring his family shame and disaster. Who was more alpha than Ronald Reagan? Think he ever had a “whore problem”? This is more like a dog who wee-wees on your leg.

And then, there’s Kristen.

  1. Ever notice that for liberals, nothing ever “is what it is”?
Iraq (and every other war) is really Vietnam. John Lennon isn’t just “murdered” — he’s “assassinated”. Israel is Nazi Germany and Palestinians are Jews.
And “hypocrisy” is always the worst sin, rather than whatever action you did to get yourself called a “hypocrite” in the first place.

  2. Elliot Mess Spitzer is the new poster child for those a$$hole politicans who get elected to office, and think that they should go around telling/making people live their lives as Spitzer thinks they should.
It has been show time and again that these self-important pompous jerks can’t run their own lives and they sure in the hell shouldn’t be telling people how to live theirs.
    Look at Canada’s own leaders.
Trudeau rammed all kinds of laws down our throats demanding that we change our lives to suit his perverted perspective of Canada.
And yet the mean-minded hypocrite couldn’t even run his own life.
No small wonder politicians are ranked so low in opinion polls.

  3. Could Bryan Adams be Canada’s Nostradamus?
Clue number one was when you knocked on my door
Clue number two was the look that you wore
N thats when I knew, it was a pretty bad sign
That the jig was up for client number nine

  4. I think Ann Coulter’s off-base on her assumption about Spitzer’s character. Fellows like him don’t do self-loathing and suicide. Just as the regular rules never applied to him, neither does the sense of consequence.
Ann makes the link to Bill Clinton, and I expect he’s the more typical model for this personality type. Caught as a liar and adulterer, he’s back bigger than life, figuring that if America won’t let him go at it again, it’ll be America’s loss.

  5. Over at the Shotgun Blog (Western Standard), Alan Dershowitz has a few things to say about this issue:
“It pains me deeply to see him [Spitzer] brought down so far, and so quickly, by private sexual misconduct…”
    Excuse me?
When you’re a public official, nothing you do is “private conduct.” Just ask a pastor or a teacher–many of whom have been hauled in front of HRC Tribunals and don’t have the luxury of separating their professional/public lives from their, suppposed, private lives–nor should they.
This wearing of separate hats and declaring that “I’m not wearing THAT hat now” is a pile of latter-day-North-American-lib-left BS. Shame on Alan Dershowitz for trying it on, so to speak.
What bothers me most about this whole thing, is not only Spitzer’s betrayal of the public’s trust but the betrayal of his three teenaged daughters. He has irrevocably altered their lives. I wonder if he ever gave that a second thought when he put his own pleasure ahead of their well-being.
I’m getting sick and tired of adults acting like kids. Too bad Mr. Spitzer never grew up. He’s sacrificed his own children on the altar of his monumental ego and lustful desires.

  6. ” Ever notice that for liberals, nothing ever “is what it is”? ”
Drug dealers just trying to make a living — not trying to destroy our children’s lives.

  7. batb; at a guess I don’t think he ever considered the possibility that he’d be publicly crucified.
You have to wonder though, if there were uhh, ‘domestic issue’s’ at home…not that that’s any kind of excuse for what he’s done to his daughters’ lives.
Most of us males simply can’t afford to get into that kind of trouble (as in don’t have a spare $5K laying around…I think there may be a pun potential there).

  8. I think Ann Coulter’s column should go down in the annals of time as the definitive piece on Eliot Spitzer’s downfall. She paints the scarlet letter on his forehead, places him in the public stocks and throws tomatoes in his face. It’s an immensely pleasurable read. Skunk Trot, AK indeed. heh

  9. I think if he had been with a prostitute a couple of times, his wife could think about forgiving him, though the risk of AIDS or other diseases would certainly make that forgiveness pretty darn difficult. But this systematic lying over years, not to mention stealing of money and time, would make it impossible. And on a practical level, how do you get your sex life back to normal when your husband is addicted to prostitutes?

  10. batb.
“I’m getting sick and tired of adults acting like kids.”
Contrast Spitzer, “Kristen” and their like with the 20 year olds in Afganistan, Iraq acting like adults. Or the good kids now in engineerin or nursing school, or driving a truck to provide for a young bride in their crappy first house.
Basically, if the media types fawn over someone, that’s a perverted canary song that somethings wrong.

  11. “Alan Dershowitz has a few things to say about this issue:
‘It pains me deeply to see him [Spitzer] brought down so far, and so quickly, by private sexual misconduct…'”
    Dershowitz should know better.
Given the power and influence of a person in Spitzer’s position, this sort of “private sexual misconduct” represented a perfect opportunity for someone in the know to blackmail the Governor’s office.
Makes you wonder about Bill Clinton too, eh?

  12. Apparently it couldn’t have happened to a, ahem nicer person and he deserves all the shame and loss he suffers, I only feel for the children, for them I hope the wife gets some serious help.

  13. *batb
I’m just a cynic but if you’ve been around the rich and jaded you’ll know that Spitzer’s daughters are quite likely only focused on their trust funds (he’s worth a billion or so with daddy’s money added). Anyway, I think it’s a stretch to claim that he sacrificed his incredibly privileged daughters in any way.

Ann Coulter is the skanky crack whore of punditry [sp?]. Too extreme to even get invited to speak at CPAC. She’s the mold on your bathroom tiles, the tapeworm in your guts. I have to get up and wash my hands every time I come across one of her caustic hate filled screeds. Excuse me for a second.
Spitzers stupidity is exceeded only by arrogance and sense of entitlement. But he’ll be back, and why not? Larry Craig didn’t resign. Vitter the sh!tter is still around, no doubt doing the dishes. Mark Foley is in real estate now so I guess he doesn’t count. As scandals go I think this one was manufactured. He made some powerful enemies and now he’s gone, for a while. Politics is like that.

  14. Spitzer is just another arrogant megalomaniac who feels the laws do not apply to him. He deserves a meeting with Loreena Bobbitt!
I was horrified to see the shell-shocked and submissive Silda Spitzer “stand by her man”. What a pitiful role model for her daughters!
While Elliot was doing his mea culpa, I would have had the bank accounts cleaned out, the locks changed on the house, and his belongings put through an industrial shredder. Oops, forgot about the divorce lawyer being on the way over.
A few minutes with Ann Coulter would get Silda turned the right way around!

That’s one of the things I like about Ann…she can dish it out and she has a knack for bringing out the worst in the lefties.
The measurement of degree of arrogance and hypocrisy of the lefty is directly proportional to their reaction to her rants.
As in the case of Mofoatheist.

  16. Oh great. I knew the feminazi’s would come out eventually.
Hate much ladies? Spitzer did what every male does when given the chance. Is that what makes you all so crazy? It has nothing to do with politics does it?

FACT: Ann Coulter presents more ideas in half a paragraph of her articles than you have in all your silly rants to date.

  18. I’d suggest that by far the worst thing Spitzer has done in this call-girl scandal is be a selfish, non-caring father. I don’t care how much money his daughters are going to get: You can’t buy decency and the qualities it takes to be a good dad.
In fact, his role as a father is far more important–and probably more difficult, if you do it right–than his role as the NY Governor.
Betraying your kids is a number-one no no. You visit upon them, their kids, their grandkids, and so on down the line, wounds that are hard to heal, wounds that lead to dysfunction and misery.
Way to go, Governor Spitzer: Lousy Dad of the Year Award to you. Hang your head, buddy. Some forgiveness is in order here, though I wonder if you would even know how to ask for it…

  19. ‘MofoAthiest’, speaking as an ‘atheist’, you could give atheists a bad name with your mindless prattle and broad stereotyping.
Assuming you mean ‘MofoAtheist’, you might want to learn how to spell it, retard…and you might not want to wear it as a badge of honor, it’s not like it’s an accomplishment or sign of genius.
Look at me, look at me, I’m an atheist!

  20. I’m alarmed by two things, and both are only indirectly with Spitzer.
    1) Everyone should clearly understand that Spitzer’s example is strictly the province of the upper class. In the middle class, we do not have $5,000 to spend on a prostitute.
In a 6 year period the middle class does not have $80,000 allocated in their budgets for “adult entertainment.”
In the middle class our wives shoot us and divorce us if they catch us enjoying this part of what Ron Jeremy called the “wide world of entertainment.”
So this high end of the prostitution business is driven, promoted, and financed entirely by the wealthy.
This is a problem caused by them and one that can only be addressed by them. This is something that belongs among them and their friends. It is international in scope and beyond the middle class’s province to address.
The second thing is the glamorizing of this incident and the sex trade in general.
When most of us think of hookers, we think of women being beaten by pimps, shooting up drugs, and living in squalor.
And even if we know that this is not strictly true, it’s pretty much the way we want our daughters and sons to think about it.
Today our daughters see prostitution as the province of a glamourous lifestyle that pays $5,000 for jetting of to St. Tropez for a weekend of yachting, fine dining, and sex with a powerful, distinguished, older man.
In a world where one-fourth of American girls have STD, this can sound like an adventure.
On a site that is a gossip column for the porn industry, I discovered that more young people flock to Hollywood every year hoping for a career in the porn industry than kids looking to get into mainstream movies.
Well, what do we expect in a world where the antics of Paris, Britney, and Linda Lohan are highly touted, glamourized, and seen as part of the lifestyles of the rich and famous?
Last night I saw Entertainment Tonight’s full exposé, with photos, of this girl prostitute who now has a music agent and a literary agent. Record and book deals soon to follow, no doubt.
Our societies are now not only approving, but tacitly pushing the idea of prostitution as a glamourous, highly-paid career.

you have no sense of humor. try to get out of mom’s basement more often.

    Fair comment.

  22. ‘It pains me deeply to see him [Spitzer] brought down so far, and so quickly, by private sexual misconduct…'”
Horsesh**. This broke laws. There’s nothing “private” about breaking a bunch of laws – especially when you are the one who were enforcing those same laws on others without any trace of leniency.
Lawyers are all the same. They should be banned from public life altogether. Think how great our society would be without input from lawyers!

  23. I don’t follow Coulter closely, may be my testosterone is too low, insufficient bloodlust, battle fatigue, whatever.
But a GOP that is embarassed to have her among them is like a drink of tepid water, “I will spit you out of my mouth”.
In polite conversation Ann would tear MofoAtheist a third rectal pore.
