How are Canadians today different from East Germans before the Wall fell?

Canada is no longer a real democracy or free nation. Here are some comparisons between Canadians in 2026 and East Germans before 1989:

  • Most East Germans craved freedom and democracy. Most Canadians seem satisfied there’s essentially one-party rule. A large number of Canadians have essentially given up on voting altogether.
  • Most East Germans could not leave the totalitarian state they lived in. Canadians can technically leave, but much like an abused dog that has been raised in a cage, they feel an inexplicable desire to return to the “comfort” of their cage.
  • As time got closer to the Berlin Wall falling on November 9, 1989, more & more East Germans gained the courage to protest against their totalitarian leaders. In 2022, a small group of brave, freedom-loving Canadians fought back against the insane (and illegal) excesses of the government. Many Canadians supported these freedom fighters, but the vast majority of Canadians did not.
  • If the Elbows Up Canadians were magically transported back to East Germany in 1989, they would be:
    • Turning in their neighbours to the secret police.
    • Rebuilding the wall that was being torn down.
    • Intentionally hurting, if not killing, anyone who dared challenge the authority of their beloved State.

Glenn Beck offers an honest appraisal of Canada in 2026. It ain’t pretty.

  1. Well, the big difference is that we can always pack our bags and leave. Also, many Canadians still have guns but writing more about it will get me in trouble.

  2. numerous places and venues l compare CanaDUH in 2026 to 1930s nazi deutchland. aaaaaaand guess what,
a BIG similarity: hero worship, followed by incessant propaganda and then censorship.
basically the ‘big 3’ of totalitarianism, the ‘BEST’ kind with full cooperation from the brainwashed masses.
its like the powah cystem boyz of any domain or age stumble on the ‘key’ to power and its the SAME THINGS every time. be it Nebuchadnezzar or the TURDeaus. same thing.

  3. One thing I remember reading about after the wall fell, was that in spite of popular sentiment assuming that both sides of a unified Germany would rush to each other with open arms, that was not actually the case at all. There was a lot of mistrust between both the east and west, but the most striking part of it was how the east emerged from their stagnant, stuck in time portion of the nation.
The western Germans soon came to loath the smug sense of moral superiority that came from easterners touting their living as state owned slaves, surviving in abject squalor and misery as some sort of mark of honor. The easterners found their western brethren decadent, materialistic, and far too ‘westernized’.. The absolutely obnoxiousness and insufferable arrogance of a people who would require billions and billions of Deutschmarks to educate and modernize couldn’t get over how backwards the westerners were supporting them financially (and still are.).
West Germans were absolutely baffled by their attitudes, as those arrogantly impoverished and ignorant easterners had few marketable skills in modernized industry or agriculture, and that yet they would look down the westerners trying to lift them up was stunning to say the least. Cast not pearl, I suppose..

    1. Maybe this is because East Germans are German and West Germans are Turks and Syrians?

  4. “In 2022, a small group of brave, freedom-loving Canadians fought back against the insane (and illegal) excesses of the government. Many Canadians supported these freedom fighters, but the vast majority of Canadians did not.”

And that, my friend, is The Problem: that vast majority that did not. Cowardice stalks the land. Our national animal may as well be the mouse.

  5. The backroom deals by Carney are also somewhat reminiscent of how Hitler became Chancellor of Germany with backroom deals.

It is almost uncanny when you consider that the highest support the Nazis got was 43.9% of the vote during the March 1933 German federal election. In the last election, the Liberals got 43.76%.

  6. The east Germans were pussycats too. The GDR only collapsed when the USSR made clear that it wasn’t going to prop up the GDR any more.

Don’t expect much to change until Beijing decides to cut the Libranos loose.

  7. We know how the wall came down.
They ran out of other people’s money.
At the rate Carney is spending we should see the fall within this decade.

  8. If only we could just pack our bags and leave.
It’s too early in the Carnage regime to declare political asylum, to the US for example. Carnage has to declare more oppressive policies for that to happen.
As for other countries, virtually none are easy to emigrate to, without basic steps and qualifications to do so. Most involve having substantial assets to support yourself, of varying degrees, to qualify for residency then citizenship. Mexico, Moldova and Uruguay are three of the easiest. Thailand is easy to move to and stay, but you can’t own anything and you can’t become a citizen.
Spain and Portugal are not as easy, as they have changed their rules recently.
Nothing like leaving Canaderp and having to cash in assets like RRSPs and property, so the government can confiscate their share too.
Yes, it’s not as easy as it looks to “just leave”.

    1. Communists … like the majority of Canadians and their Authoritarian Leaders … erect walls to Keep their people trapped. Enslaved. Sorry, but you cannot ever leave … or you will be shot. And the government will confiscate all your wealth … and your families wealth. Communists entrap. No one volunteers for their enslavement.

  9. If Canada is such a great country, why do such prominent celebrities like Kneel Young, ElBoWZo Myers and Joni Mitchell, claim to “love” Canada, but relocated and live happily in the States?
Their love only goes as far as the lower taxes they prefer as US citizens.

  10. On the positive side, If we become like East Germany, our women athletes will do very well at the next summer Olympics. Some side effects though.

    1. Oh you can already see the side effects in today’s women’s hockey and soccer teams.

  11. Most East Germans hoped and wished for the Berlin Wall to come down.
Most Canadians hope for the GTA Wall to go up.

  12. One difference. Can Ahh Duh has more NAZI’s than either half of Germany did, when the wall fell.
We invited them in,from War End on..
    MAID stupid,bow to The Covinators.

    1. Well, if you insist on regarding everyone who ever took up arms against Comrade Stalin as a “Nazi” – and of course party discipline can require that sort of thing when you least expect it – then yes, there’s shitloads of Nazis in Canada, we let them in in floods. But everywhere in Germany such “Nazis” were a substantial portion of the population, indeed everyone who had survived the war. Canada could well have had more Nazis recognized by the Communist Party than Germany had Nazis recognized by the Nazi Party. But how meaningful is that comparison?
