From a Green Party press release passed along by email;
LA RONGE – Green Party by-election candidate Robin Orr is running in second place among decided voters in Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill, according to a
phone survey conducted by the Green Party.
[…]
The phone survey was conducted by the Green Party over the weekend of March 8 to 10, 2008. The voice message asked “which political party are you planning to vote for on March 17th”. Of the 237 voters who responded, their voting preferences were:
26.6% Conservative
13.9% Green
13.1% Liberal
11.0% NDP
35.4% Undecided
Small sample size, and who knows who drafted the methodology, but the by-election could prove interesting in this “Liberal held – television raffle won” seat.

This is interesting, since on one of the political shows on Friday, the Liberal candidate was being touted as a shoo-in in a much-touted four-for-four sweep of the MSM’s party of choice.
Apparently, that’s because the Liberal candidate in that riding is a former provincial NDP cabinet minster.
Curiously, Alberta pundits predicted an upsurge in Liberal fortunes in this province during the recent election.
With a prognostication record like that, these pundits have shown they are well-qualified as commentators on global warming, er, climate change.
Maybe they think they are voting for the Riders up there?
The questions before the pivotal “who are you voting for question” must have been:
1) Do you love the Riders?
2) What are the Riders colors?
3) Do you love the color Green?
4) If you vote Conservative, Liberal or NDP, you HATE the riders, so what party are you voting for?
Bradburn, Sudman and Wansink (2007) are rolling in their graves… or are looking for one to dig themselves into.
Cheers!

We have a Green Party Candidate???? When did that happen?
I just hope that the Conservative candidate gets some of his RCMP buddies to scrutinize in the North East of the riding.
It’s obvious that my area isn’t the key voting ground – Don’t see any NDP or Green signs, and very few Beatty signs.
I spent three LONG years conducting telephone polls for a market research firm back in my university days. We had one rule: The client gets what the client wants.
There are lots of ways to word surveys to skew results to get the results you want.
I’m not suggesting the people in this riding don’t support the Greens – but polls are polls after all . Not worth a dime.
Yeah, I wasn’t looking so much at the Green results but at the Con-Lib disparity.
Poll results were skewed by the very fact it was conducted by phone. In this riding one must factor in how many have a phone or were able to get up to answer it if they did indeed possess one.
Apologizing in advance, yours truly, ST.
Meanwhile, in the Quadra election race, the Liberals appear to be doing something funny. Haven’t found the entry yet for Brown Envelope Purchase.
Angry has done the work MSM reporters won’t do . . .
Joyce Murray is amazing. The Liberal candidate for Vancouver-Quadra ran her nomination as a one-woman show. I mean literally. I looked at her nomination returns and compared them against Conservative Deborah Meredith’s, and while Meredith raised thousands from two dozen donors, and spent thousands on local printers and communication consultants and so on, Murray raised a mere $1300 and spent nearly ten times as much…and all the expenses claimed are listed as owed to Joyce Murray, who supplied all the services.
Like I said. Amazing.
Actually, the entire expenditure is listed as unpaid claims, which seems a bit odd.

Seeing that bribery in politics in now out in the open; perhaps all the parties can offer HDTV with a 5 year free satellite subscription!
Boy that should swing the poll numbers considerably.
We wouldn’t want to be “small town cheap” now would we?

They’ll have to up the ante and raffle cars instead of TVs to get the vote out this time…oops, I forgot, the Libs are broke.
Joyce Murray on Duffy Live was all “mememememe”.
If the Libbies go less than 4-4 Monday, is Dion toast?
(with B.Rae in the house,yes)
has anyone seen polling numbers from the 4 ridings?
The Liberal strategy is to hold off a federal election until 2009. In the meantime, get Bob Rae in as ‘de facto’ leader.
They’ll be presenting themselves as TEAM PLAYERS; they always be, in public, in groups of at least three. Dion won’t be alone; he’ll always have Rae, Goodale, Ignatieff etc with him.
The Liberal strategy is to deal with their lack of a leader by defining Singular Leadership as BAD.
They, the Liberals, will promote TEAM LEADERSHIP. In opposition to the Evil Harper, who is a ‘singular leader’ aka, a DICTATOR, a TYRANT, a…etc, etc.
While the Liberals, on the other hand, are benign, welcoming, open-hearted etc etc.
That’s the strategy.
Will Canadians fall for it? Of course they will. Canadians don’t like independence, individuality, leadership. They prefer groupies, groupism and lemmings.
The GREEN PARTY IS REALY THE WATERMELLON PARTY GREEN ON THE OUTSIDE RED TO THE CORE BEWARE OF THE GREENS
I also think the Conservatives will win in DMCR on Monday, and win big.
However, the poll can’t be considered reliable – the sample size is far too small. What is the margin of error?
My sentiments also ET
It wont just be Bob rae but Martha Hall Findlay
I dont agree with her but as a watcher of political talent I think her profile will go up significantly and she’ll give Iggy and Bob a run for their money.
Look south to see what happens when a credible woman runs for the “liberal” party. Iggy and Bob will fight it out for the male vote….just an early and totally speculative conclusion….
As for Dion….he doesnt need to go 4-4 but 2-4 would do him lots of damage. I prefer the the 3-4 solution…..not enough to wound him seriously and not enough to take him out of his current circumstance.
Dion as Liberal Leader = Conservative majority.
Craig Oliver says that Joan Beatty “has the edge” in Saskatchewan.
What a joke.
Time to pack it in, Craig.
Anyone living in a cold climate who would vote Green is either mentally incompetent or a masochist.
Dont’ worry the cbc and ctv will run to flitting Keith Brownsey here in Calgary for his much sought after,[idiotic political forecasts] which will prove to be entirely wrong and then he will have a full nuclear meltdown when on telivision the results are exactly the opposite as his sorry predictions. Repeat after me for a job in the Canadian msm, I love and revere Turdeau. Lets move ahead Canada and skid every last theiving stinking liberal, think of our potential.
Polls are usually a daily overfeed from the MSM at election time. Why are we not hearing about polls on those 4 ridings(other than this one)
Could it be…??
MSM doesn’t want to present the gloomy forecast?
Check out Cons.ca website.Serious post about latest votes in Parl.with a big shout out to Dion Libs.for supporting each and every one! Hilarious.
I saw Craig as well clair voyant, and his Lib.love-in..can’t wait for QP tomorrow..more of the same likely.
The Libs may be broke but there may be some company who would donate something to raffle off for votes if it were in their own interest to do so. Payola runs through many paths and we know how discreetly the Liberals can do it. Smooth operators unlimited.
If the Liberals were polling high in theses ridings we’d hear about it, incessantly. Smell a rat?
I think we’ve pegged it Liz J…
hear those crickets?
It was St Pats day and Green was the color.
