Gray served as an assistant to liberal senator Sharon Carstairs as well as having served as a liberal MLA in Manitoba for about 5 years. And imagine that, her title is Director of Government relations! Nope no liberals at the whaet board!

    The Enquirer and the other American Media supermarket tab employ so many old British red top tabloid journos that faux British pubs duly sprang up around their Florida headquarters — the brits have different libel laws than we do and I wonder if that training/mindset doesn’t carry over to their work at the Enquirer.

Great comment over at The Conservative Hipster vis a vis the HRC fiasco involving Mark Steyn: “Every Canadian blogger, journalist, newspaper and magazine publisher should publish the same chapter from Mark’s book (with his permission) that Maclean’s magazine published and which is the cause of the human rights complaint by the CIC. This would send a spectacular message to everyone who gives a damn about free speech in Canada but more importantly to those who want to censor free speech. It might even lead to legislative changes to the human rights act.”
    I was thinking of something along the same lines a few days ago after Michael Coren and Salim Mansur weighed in on the travesty of “justice” (sic) being done via the CIC’s complaint to the HRC.
    What about a blizzard of politically incorrect articles, comments, etc., so many that they would clog up the HRCs to the extent that they might throw up their hands in surrender. The only problem with this idea is that it could backfire and the HRCs might be given the go-ahead to hire more moonbats to deal with the incoming complaints.
    I’m in mind of what the King of Norway did when the Nazis invaded and mandated that all Jews wear Star of David armbands, all the better for the Nazis to persecute them with. The King’s solution to this appalling mandate was, “We are all Jews,” a call to all Norwegians to ALSO wear Star of David armbands. Apparently, most of them did.
    Now is the time for those of us who deeply value freedom of speech in Canada to stand together because it’s not such a trite saying, “United we stand, divided we fall.”

What I don’t understand is that if the HRC’s are supposed to be protecting the rights of minorities to obtain equal job opportunities; then why can’t Mark Steyn go to an HRC and get them to sue on his behalf as an oppressed minority white male who is being harassed for practicing his vocation as a journalist?
    The end game here would be to get a vicious circle of law suits that would cause centrifugal force to spin the HRC out of existence.
    How on earth have we ever let ourselves get into this self-loathing mess?
    If we don’t stand for something we’ll fall for anything.

    I wouldnt take it to the bank but they will break a story first, then the MSM will backfill once it is out there. If this is true many people know just many people have chosen not to pursue.
    If I was a democrat I would prefer this story to happen now rather than after he is the presidential or vice presidential nominee.
    And the story wont be that he had an affair and has a “love child” it will be about the cover up and whether he lies about it. If I was advising edwards I would find a way to not discuss rather than deny, unless it absolutely is not true.

    I recently received a letter from our Glorious Leader Stephen Harper.
    Oops, did I say “Glorious Leader”? I meant to write “Prime Minister” Stephen Harper.
    I am a little confused, I suppose, because in his letter Prime Minister Harper writes, “The Conservative Party is the people’s party. And the Conservative government is the people’s government.”
    Now, I don’t know about you, but terms like “people’s party” and “people’s government” immediately conjure up images in my mind of red-scarved multitudes mindlessly and obediently cheering the “people’s” leader.
    Not that I am suggesting, of course, the Conservative Party – er, I mean the People’s Party – is attempting to create a personality cult around the Prime Minister. After all, in order to have a personality cult, the leader actually has to have, well, you know, a personality.
    However, it does seem clear the party is actively trying to generate some sort of mystical aura around the person of Stephen Harper.
    How else do you explain the special 2008 calendar I recently received from the party as a gift for my “loyal support”?
    Now, most gift calendars from politicians feature photos of Parliament Hill, the Peace Tower or maybe some prairie wheat fields.
    This calendar features almost nothing but Stephen Harper.
    For January it’s a photo of Stephen Harper getting off a plane; February features Harper posing next to a guy in a snowman costume; March shows off Harper in a turtleneck; in June there’s a shot of him looking studious in his office, and on it goes, month after month.
    In other words, for virtually every day in 2008, owners of this calendar can gaze upon a smiling, benevolent, wise-looking Harper. (The only reprieve will come in May, which inexplicably features a photo of the Queen.)
    Why is the Conservative brain trust pushing this Harper-centric strategy?
    Well, likely it’s because they realize there is very little difference between the Conservatives and the Liberals ideologically speaking. Both parties basically push the same wishy-washy middle-of-the-road centrist policies.
    So the only argument the Conservatives can come up with to win our votes is: “Hey, our leader is better than the other leader, because he looks good in a calendar.”

    Gerry Nicholls sounds like a grade-ten kid trying to be funny by using sarcasm at someone else’s expense: “Hey, our leader is better than the other leader, because [wait for it…TA DA] he looks good in a calendar.” Ha, ha, ha.
    I think I got that calendar, and PM Stephen Harper looks great.
    I guess if Mr. Nicholls wants to blame anyone for it…I mean, anyone other than “the Conservative brain trust pushing this Harper-centric strategy” he’s already cited…he COULD slap the Canadian MSM on the wrist for doing their best to either deep-six photos of their Prime Minister and his very photogenic wife or to feature photos that make PMSH look ponderous, fat, with his mouth open, or all of the above.
    If the Harpers were Librano$, they’d be on the cover of every newspaper and magazine in Canada, on a regular basis. Mrs. Harper (who is a very attractive blonde) rescues orphaned kittens and drives a motorcycle like a pro: How come we hardly ever see or hear this in our MSM?
    I’ll tell ya why: The MSM have no interest, whatsoever, in any photo or story that will assist the Canadian voter in seeing the difference between the CPC and the Librano$: The Harper family lives within its means, PM Stephen Harper doesn’t put strangleholds on hecklers (so, he shuts down Press Conferences: I say “Good on ‘im.”), friends of the CPC don’t leave brown envelopes spilling over with cash in Italian restaurants, the CPC hasn’t swindled the Canadian taxpayer out of million$ of dollar$, in contracts and paybacks to their families and friends, with no intention of paying the $$$ back, etc., etc. ad nauseum.
    Instead of the Harpers on magazine covers, we get Justin Trudeau (gag), his wife, and baby. Remember the last time there were kids at 24 Sussex Drive (excepting Catherine Clark)? Margaret, Justin, Michel, and Sacha were constantly featured in the Canadian media.
    I guess the calendar is just a reminder to Canadian taxpayers that our Prime Minister and his family are just as photogenic as the Magus and his family, and are a good deal more down to earth–you know, more like the rest of us…

    Baghdad Santa is back to hear wishes for peace

    BAGHDAD (Reuters) – Here’s what Karrar Haider, a 10-year-old Shi’ite boy at a school in eastern Baghdad, told Santa he wants this year for the holidays:
    “I have one wish to ask Santa Claus. Please bring peace to my country. Stop the bombs so I can play with my friends again.”
    Santa — who spends the rest of the year disguised as a 48-year-old Chaldean Christian monastery administrator named Jalal Hourmoz — said he was delighted to spread joy after two years when sectarian violence made a merry Christmas impossible.
    “I stopped wearing the costume for two years. I was afraid of death. But this year it’s a bit safer. So I’m back, to celebrate both Christmas and Eid,” he said of the Christian and Muslim holidays that this year fall less than a week apart.
    “I feel so happy to bring a smile to the faces of the children. They’ve suffered a lot and they deserve more than a guy wearing a Santa Claus costume with some simple gifts.
    “I want to tell the world that Christians and Muslims in Iraq are brothers as we used to be before.”
    During the darkest days of Iraq’s sectarian conflict, teaching respect for all faiths was a dangerous business. But at the al-Abtikar school in eastern Baghdad, it is a way of life.
    The school is run by nuns from Iraq’s small Chaldean Christian community, but most of its pupils are Muslims, a mixture of Shi’ites and Sunnis.
    The nuns managed to keep the arrival of Santa Claus a secret from the 2,800 pupils until he showed up in his red suit and white shaggy beard, ringing a bell and passing out small toys.
    Pupils ran outside, screaming with joy.
    “We never differentiate between the students: Christians, Sunnis and Shi’ites are all equal. Our message is to offer education for all, with no exception,” said Sister Ghufran Nayif, the school’s principal.
    To her, the coincidence that the Christian and Muslim holidays fall at the same time this year is a blessing.
    “It’s a sign from the holy God that we are all his creation, we should hold fast and nothing should divide us.” she said.
    “Children are living through daily suffering of violence, and we celebrate both happy occasions to draw a smile to their faces and tell them there is still hope in this life.”
    Or, as Rusul Mohammed, 14, a Muslim girl, explained the school’s philosophy: “Today we are celebrating with our Christian brothers both Christmas and Muslim Eid.
    “My wish is to live in peace all together,” she said.

    Lie #2 – This statement is so preposterous it requires no comment.

    Lie #3 – Allah does not mean God in Arabic. Ilah means God. Allah is the name of their god. One of a pantheon of 365 Arabic gods worshipped at the Kabbah long before Mo’s time. Mo’s father’s name was Abduallah. The Judeo/Christian God is Yahweh. Furthermore, there is nothing supporting this grand lie other than (the proven liar), Mohammad’s word.

    It has padded the feet of Russian soldiers as they marched on Paris, Berlin and Grozny. But within a year, the humble footcloth is to be consigned to the laundry bin of history. Its replacement? The sock.
    Portyanki, or footcloths, have kept soldiers’ feet warm and dry since the days of Peter the Great. Notoriously difficult to wrap, they are the bane of many a new recruit and will be phased out by the end of next year, Deputy Defense Minister Vladimir Isakov announced last month.

  50. As for Happy Holidays: I’ve had a few salespeople wish me a “Happy Holiday!,” to which I cheerily reply, “Yes, Merry Christmas!”
    So far, just smiles, no knitted eyebrows or scowls. Let’s just keep plying others with “Merry Christmas!” when greetings are being exchanged.
    Maybe we can take back the Christmas Season and get it through Canadians’ heads that Christians are PART OF Canada’s multicultural “mosaic.” Amazing that this even has to be pointed out, but it does.
    And, of course, Christians aren’t a cultural group: Christians come in all sorts of different cultures. We should definitely not be shut out of Canada’s multi-culti profile; there are Christians celebrating Christmas in pretty much every cultural group: Aboriginal people, Egyptian, Ethiopian, Pakistani, Indian, African, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, English, French, Dutch, Spanish, Costa Rican, Russian, German, Scandinavian, Maltese, Canadian, American, etc., etc.
    Christians from whatever culture they are a part of are offended and short-changed when Christmas is ignored or, worse, treated with contempt.
