Y2Kyoto: Solar For Us, Dung For You

Common sense interrupts the climate change debate;

Few people in Africa got to see Al Gore and his troupe of rock-star ecologists strutting their stuff two weekends ago, because most have neither television nor electricity. That’s just as well, because they would have been aghast at Live Earth’s bizarre message.
In Africa, we have much more serious things to worry about than climate change. Indeed, if they achieve their objective the concerts will have done harm to the people of Africa.
[…]
Please, Europe and America, spare us! You can cut your own emissions if you want, but don’t tell us what to do. We really have much more serious and urgent threats to deal with. Unfortunately, our beggarly governments are very susceptible to diktats from on high, especially when they are offered aid (which they use to line the coffers of their bank accounts): don’t encourage them!
Humanity has proven itself hugely adaptable. We survived an Ice Age and a period probably much hotter than today (around 8,000 years ago). The Dutch salvaged land from the sea and built on it. In Saudi Arabia, they drink desalinated sea water. The Tuaregs adapted to the blazing heat of the Sahara and the Eskimos adapted to the freezing cold of the Arctic.

Indeed. It’s an observation that eludes the “1 degree rise in temperature will destroy life on earth as we know it” CBC fruit-fly cult and their megaphones in media.
Just as things look even more grim for the future of that dysfunctional continent, a glimmer of hope appears on an unexpected front;

Rising prices for food have led the United Nations programme fighting famine in Africa and other regions to warn that it can no longer afford to feed the 90m people it has helped for each of the past five years on its budget.
The World Food Programme feeds people in countries including Chad, Uganda and Ethiopia, but reaches a fraction of the 850m people it estimates suffers from hunger. It spent about $600m buying food in 2006. So far, the WFP has not cut its reach because of high commodities prices, but now says it could be forced to do so unless donor countries provide extra funds.
[…]
She said policymakers were becoming more concerned about the impact of biofuel demand on food prices and how the world would continue to feed its expanding population.

If an inflationary food-into-fuel market has the net result of forcing the UN to cut back on its dictatorship funding programs, Africans may finally have a chance to turn their backs on dependency and get legitimate economies off the ground.
Won’t happen though. There are too many hungry bureaucrats at the UN working hard to ensure things stay exactly as they’ve always been.

  1. How did this crazy ole’ world turn topsy-turvy ??
All my life I really did believe that the Western World was much smarter than the Third World.
In this day and age it seems the TW and some countries such as Poland and Czech Republic have it all over the ‘West’ —- especially Western Europe.
The reason ?? IMO, it’s the media’s ‘dumbing-down’ the news.
    Case in point;
[Britain’s former Secretary of State for the Environment, David Miliband, recently said that the rest of the world cannot aspire to the UK’s standard of living because….]
He probably arrived at that conclusion by watching the BBC present Gore and the so-called world-famous enviro-nut, Suzuki, as gospel.

  2. Climate change feeds to many government types. Look at Dr, fruit fly, it’s made him quite wealthy. Whenever I talk to someone that is a rah rah global warmer I just smile, shake my head and move on. There’s no reasoning with a programmed brain. They are concerned about one thing and one thing only, job preservation,

  3. Sorry for asking this again.. But has anyone heard that the Kyoto crowd has sucessfully censored the BBC4 documnetary “The Great Global Warming Swindle” I ordered a copy from Amazon.UK last April and they have said that they were having difficulty in acquiring it.
Sounds like the Suzuki and Gore crowd have sucessfully censored the DVD while sucessfully convinced our teachers to show Gores un-biased film to our school children.
Sounds like Joseph Goebbels at work here folks. As he was once quoted if “You tell the same lie often enough pretty soon eveeryone will believe the message” Certainly our MSM has been convinced.

  4. My Scottish soul rebels every time I consider biofuels sourced from edible plants. Burning food is sinful, I don’t care what anybody says.
You want to make it out of garbage, manure, lumber waste and what have you, that’s great. You want to burn corn/soy/palm oil/ or cut down forests to plant same, that’s immoral. Food is for eating.

  5. [Respiratory infections are the leading cause of childhood deaths on my continent, mainly from inhaling the smoke produced by burning wood and dung in our quaint mud huts. Why do we burn these “renewable” but very dirty fuels? Not because we have some desire to save the Earth. No sir! It is because we don’t have access to natural gas or electricity.]Kofi Benti
Is this what Albert and Dave want us to endure ??
Or Maurice Strong’s way of implementing population control ??

  6. [In its essence, eco-extremism rejects virtually everything about modern life. We are told that nothing short of returning to primitive tribal society can save the earth from ecological collapse. No more cities, no more airplanes, no more polyester suits. It is a naive vision of a return to the Garden of Eden.] Patrick Moore.(1994)
Return to the Africa of today ??
Was Patrick thinking of Suzuki when he wrote that 13 years ago ?? I wonder if he ever imagined the Kyoto Kult’s fraud would have got this far ??

  7. THE CURRENT SYSTEM of foriegn aid is fundamentally socialist. Money is given by the rich to the poor to create ‘levelling’. The money is given to top-down controlling governments instead of to the people themselves. The money is fed into ‘public projects’ and other government-related activities that enrich EVERYONE BUT THE POOR.
Most tellingly, capitalist programs which have been shown again and again to actually help the poor, are ignored or shunned. MICROCREDIT programs, which involve small loans to small businesses have a profound effect wherever they are implemented. They enrich families, increase incomes, and kick-start private enterprise.
The UN, CARE, OXFAM, etc., renounce and avoid these programs because they give money to people who want to help themselves, and these programs prevent the corrupt misdirection of funds.
So long as Socialists run private and public foriegn aid, it will never work. Is this not obvious? Socialism has never worked, wherever it was tried.

  8. [In 1985 Greenpeace took up the campaign to eliminate chlorine from all industrial processes, to essentially remove it from human use despite its enormous benefits to society.]Patrick Moore
The world’s drinking water is largely delivered to humanity in PVC pipes. Do you think Aficans would also like some safe drinking water ??
But many in Western Europe, side with David Miliband in denying(deniers), through Kyoto, the right of Africans to bring themselves up to our healthy standard of living.
How sick is that ?? (Patrick has said this many times.)

  9. How Sick Is This ??
[Activists persist in their zero-tolerance campaign against genetically enhanced varieties of food crops when there is zero evidence of harm to human health or the environment, and the benefits are measurable and significant. Genetically enhanced (GE) food crops result in reduced chemical pesticides, higher yield, and reduced soil erosion. Golden Rice, for example, could prevent blindness in 500,000 children per year in Asia and Africa if activists would stop blocking its introduction.}Patrick Moore
    How Sick Is THAT !!??

  10. Given these observations about how attempts to limit CO2 can have a quite negative effect on Africa, it is surprising that Stephen Lewis allowed himself to become a spokesperson for Kyoto and environmentalism. Someone indicated that he was on a program with David Suzuki promoting the whole AGW message. Initially I was simply surprised that he would allow his name (presence) to be used to promote the Kyoto mssg. because his knowledge of this issue must be second hand. Now his involvement seems even more shortsighted.

  11. kyoto . . the great international ponzi scheme is now killing poor innocent people by starving them.
Go figure . . the law of unintended consequences.

  12. LindaL:
When did Stephen Lewis ever actually say he cared about Africa? His cause celeb (cash cow/bully pulpit) was AIDS which tangently touched Africa. Maybe the bloom was off the AIDS rose and he felt compelled to run to the front of the Kyoto parade.

  13. Stephen Lewis, in his $2000 dollar suits. Who’s children never went near a public school. Who’s whole family has been snorting heavily at the trough for decades, does not give a rat’s ass about the people of Africa. All he cares about is his pencil necked, trough wallowing family.

  14. My family has some time in Africa. We have been there as warriors and aid workers. We have seen both sides of the fence, and neither is very pretty.
This article is spot on the money. Let’s build them some nuclear reactors and sewage/water systems, and that continent would be on it’s feet in a generation. But, no, because the only jobs that would create would be for engineers and manufacturers(you know, evil capitalists). So, until we rid ourselves of the self-serving moonbat/leftards, who only perpetuate the status-quo, be prepared to see another 20-30 million die in the next generation. So sad, so preventable.

  15. Africans dont care to much for the eco-wackos becuase all the eco-wackos want to do with AFRICA is turn it into some eco-tourists trap with photo safaris and such they dont want those africans to have safe drinking water or airconditioning and their trying to stop them from using DDT to control MALARIA,SCREW GREENPEACE,SCREW WWF,SCREW AL GORE,SCREW LIVE EARTH SCREW THE ECO-FREAKS

The Great Global Warming Swindle is still up on Google Video.
The easiest way to get the whole thing in one go, as opposed to having to view it in 8 parts, is go to “www.junkscience.com”; scroll down the left hand side (not too far) until you see it.

  17. Fred: “kyoto . . the great international ponzi scheme is now killing poor innocent people by starving them.
Go figure . . the law of unintended consequences.”
Fred, what makes you think this particular consequence is unintended?

  18. RL, TGGWS is being released in September. The version on YouTube is the original, the updated version has fixed many of the squeeking points pointed at by the alarmists and Carl Wunsch is out because he complained that they took him out of context. An interim version aired in Australia as you probably know. I emailed WagTV and Sophie Flaxington said it would be ready in September.
The original is, IMHO, worth watching even though it does use graphs not approved by Al Gore and James Hansen and they used some older studies on volcanoes. Oh, and the fools that made TGGWS think that the sun has something to do with our climate, what a joke. ;^)

  19. I think much of the push to censor TGGWS has more to do with the topic of this thread than with the climate science aspect. The climate science is the lightning rod, designed to draw attention away from the conditions of the 3rd world and their lack of power, literally and figuratively. While its a small part of the documentary, it is damning for what it says about the green movement’s blind obsession of restricting reliable energy to the 3rd world, pushing solar and wind only.
The current rush for biofuels is exacerbating the problem.

  20. Folks like Gore, Suzuki and Lewis sure talk a lot.
They ignore central realities about human societies though.
A consequence of their global eco-demands might well be – war.

  21. Strand AL GORE,DAVID SUZUKI and the rest of thee co-wackos on the planet ALFA 177 where they have a nighttime tempeture of 120 below zero
