    I’m waiting for the day I can buy one at Shoppers Drug Mart, near the shelves where they sell the blood pressure monitors and the oxygen meters. Waiting 7 days for a Covid-19 test is about as effective as waiting 7 days for a tow truck when you’re stalled on the Trans-Canada near Sintaluta, Saskatchewan.

    Back in the 80’s, we had a locust infestation in SW Sask. We sold farm supplies, Furadan, the most popular insecticide of the day was in short supply. There were hundreds of barrels available in Montana, however the drums were marked in US gallons. It was just a paper decal on the drum that read ”55 US Gallons.” A brochure was taped to the drum.

    If anyone knows how fast a swarm of locust can devour a field of green wheat or barley, they’d know the emergency in getting a hold of this stuff. The dickheads from Agriculture Canada held the drums back because, and I quote, ”The brochures attached to the drums did not include metric measures.” I recall my Dad asking a federal agent, ”What would you do if they were parcels filled with penicillin for a medical emergency?” The ag guy never replied. I took seven days to clear the drums. By then some of the the crops were devoured. Oh Canada!!

      I call BS. None of the politicians or celebrities who claimed they had COVID really had it. It is a publicity stunt aimed at calming the sheeple.

  6. Health Canada wants to eliminate burdens on the system and the Chinese virus does that, the old and the sick consume taxes that could be used to buy voting blocs of ethnics or sent to African dictators so they’ll give UN votes to Justin.

    The federal government wants “old stock” Canadians dead, especially since a few of them still vote conservative.

    Immigrants like a big all-powerful government like they have back in the uncivilized world they came from, but they know an all-powerful government here can take the white man’s stuff and give it to them.

Just kidding…of course they won’t. 6 months from now canucks will be clamoring for more and bigger government. I honestly think I’m going to become one of those voices…the sooner this ship sinks the better. Getting tired of telling people over and over again the deck chairs look just as terrible in this arrangement as the last one. 🙂

  9. I heard from someone i know who works in an unrelated federal bureaucracy. The government sent everyone home to do the work from home. Out of 50 people in that department only 2 can actually get into the department server.

      1. I’m sure that one of my neighbours in Edmonton does that. A few days ago, I opened my living room window to let some fresh air into my apartment, but I had to close it after a while because of the stink of marijuana.

  13. An anecdote about Tommy Douglas, sort of.

    This was about 1978 or 1979, and my lifetime girlfriend, Hughguette, drove with me to some tiny town outside of Ottawa, to meet a friend. It turned out it was Tommy Douglas’s personal secretary (he was alive back then). She was quite elderly, slow of mind, and she had this young, woman NDP activist there visiting also. We were having tea, and eventually she and I got locked into a political debate. I was just evolving into conservatism — I would be a Red Tory back then, I am ashamed to say — and as a 30 year old I still back ghen didn’t know enough to avoid harsh political debates. As any rate, before eased off, the young woman revealed herself as a dyed-in-the-wool Stalinist, supportive of Soviet mass concentration camps, denying the Ukrainian holocaust, the whole kitten caboodle. And the elderly secretary seemed to agree with all that.

  19. Maybe just ignore the feds and do what needs to be done. In fact, that is the way it should always operate. As the courts in Alberta recently stated in the Constitutional challenge on the carbon tax….”The federal government is not the parent; and the provincial governments are not its children”. Speaking of the “carbon tax”, everybody should simply short any of their payments for utilities, etc., by the amount shown as “carbon tax”. And the provincial government should make that declaration publicly given that at this point, the federal government is operating OUTSIDE the law….they have unclean hands.

  23. Three ways governments have made this worse. First, the Alberta NDP gutted the labs in Calgary because they wanted to centralize everything in Edmonton. Second, the Trudeau feds have done zero to stop flights landing from China and elsewhere and keep pretending they screen passengers on flights, which they still don’t. Finally, when the feds do get more supplies of masks, respirators and test kits, does anyone think that any of that equipment will reach Alberta or Saskatchewan? It will go to Québec, Ontario, coastal BC and the Maritimes, in that order.
