    1. I’m not a fan of Government picking winners, but, if Moe and Kenney are going to shovel money out the door they should consider providing incentives to the private sector to set up health care supply chain businesses in the mid-west.

  1. Trudeau is proceeding to increase the carbon tax on Wednesday.

Are there any other countries in the world raising taxes at this unprecedented time?

Just another reason why all my cash is in Soup Kitchen futures.

    1. Stefan says exactly what I’ve been thinking for awhile. I also think why the hell would all of a sudden people get sick this bad from a diet they’ve had forever? And in the place where that bio lab is. Finally someone says it. It’s like it has been taboo to say or something, no one has been saying it.

  2. Tick tock people of the land… The economy is crashing and we are like lambs being lead to the slaughter

    1. I called this years ago.

Canada poached South Africa’s doctors for years. We’d be at a critical mass shortage without them. How long will it be before we recognize Cuban medical credentials?

Before the Chinese virus is through with us our health care will be delivered by MASH units. Cuba here we come.

        1. Because any Indian who gets their medical license is “Just An Indian” who got above himself. Indians want a -White- doctor.

I know this because a friend of mine is a Navajo Indian. They got their MD and went back to the Rez to “give back to the community.” That lasted about a year. It didn’t end happily. They got chased out, pretty much.

This person is an excellent doctor and has had a very successful career working in places where there are no Indians.

And that’s why First Nations don’t use their own doctors.

    1. Phoebe left us way too soon. She was an immense talent and a person of character.

My favorite tune is ‘No Regrets’.

      1. Filmed in Chicago…
April ’77 and aired on WNET NYC on Feb 18, 1978:

I am going to save this for afternoon G&T happy hour.

Yesterday I was bringing a load of wood home. There were a coupla pu trucks parked on the road ahead of me. They were parked drivers door to drivers door. Windows down and 6′ apart. Two local ranchers (one had his Mrs) were drinking beer and visiting. Livin’ life like normal.

Tomorrow we’re going to seperate yearling steers/heifers (last years calves). The truck is coming Thursday. Got a few old crock cows and 2 bulls to go as well. Helping out my buddy.

I was thinking about Bob Dorough. He’s a cool (unknown) hipster piano player/singer. Dorough is a highly respected player in the jazz world but is virtually unknown. He wrote ‘3 is a magic number’ and a bunch of learning videos for kids (Sesame St).
Anyway the song I was think of, ‘I’ve got just about everything i need’, sort of sums up my life.

          LG

          1. You are a busy cat! Let’s hope your day tomorrow will be less busy or like the guy said, a ‘smaller’ day.

Check out Bob Dorough here at 94 years old – he still sounded cool!

Watch Bob Dorough@ CALS Ron Robinson Theater-“A Small Day Tomorrow”” on YouTube
            https://youtu.be/q0Jpgk8qnwU

          2. Here’s the same song… with a different performance style!

From the 1966 LP “Just About Everything”

Here is his 2013 performance in Berlin with his adoring nephew, it is wonderfully sentimental.
Watch Bob Dorough – “Better Than Anything” – (and his Nephew is dancing) on YouTube
            https://youtu.be/-L6mC1rrbjI

            How sweet it is!

          3. Wow NR you’ve outdone yourself! The enthusiastic nephew was priceless.

I saw Bob Dorough only once, in LA at Vine St. He is so NY.

He also recorded ‘Baby it’s Cold Outside ‘ with Blossom Dearie.

Looking forward to a Small Day Tomorrow- ha

            Thanks

          4. And I thank you too, in return. These are good artists — I get lost listening to a lot of songs before picking ones that I hope you and listeners would like.

Funny though, I still have the 1974 song “Poetry Man” by Phoebe Snow in my head– all day today. Love that song!

Over the years I heard it here and there and it took only 46 years to get the artist’s name and finally play it here with headphones on. I jumped and copied the particulars when I saw it on Stingray Music Channel flashback 70s when I was channel surfing this week. Said to myself, “there’s THAT song — yes!”

Did you enjoy Phoebe Snow’s concert with David Bromberg? I am going to look at his music a bit more tomorrow– his resumé is vast.

P.S. I saw that B.D. recorded “baby it’s cold outside” too! It was freezing here today — I froze the tips of my fingers a bit out shoveling 3 inches of snow from last night!

            Cheers!

          5. Nancy Ross.
Had a similar experience with a song, that was the theme for a local series about “relationships. Too 40 years, but Googled some of the lyrics, and there she was!
Ann Briggs “She Moved Through The Fair”.
            All vocals…

          6. Eastern Paul, @ 1:38 am:
            Yes! True, it works!
I once googled “wayback in ’67 was attending” ….or something similar…

            It’s really:
            “Way back when in ’67
I was the dandy of Gamma Chi
            Sweet things from Boston
            So young and willing
            Moved down to Scarsdale
            Where the hell am I?”

Got results. Those are the lyrics to Steely Dan’s “Hey Nineteen”

However, in the case of Phoebe Snow’s song, “Poetry Man”, all I could remember was “la, la, la” and not being near a computer, couldn’t remember the rest that I would’ve wanted to check out.

I really enjoy how that comes out because 99.9% of the time we get results!
            Pretty good, huh?

Here’s your song… nice, no music, just pure talent:

Watch “SHE MOVED THROUGH THE FAIR (1963) by Anne Briggs” on YouTube
            https://youtu.be/3dyUsXgL7ow

          7. I did enjoy the concert. Those Irish tunes were something else. Manic playing!

Man it was cold today. Was outside for a bit but gave up and came in and fired up the wood stove.

      1. Very astute observation.

Maybe because Democrats actually understand them both perfectly, clearly and succinctly. Does this maybe give us an insight as to how their brains work? How they actually process information?

Is this what they think Trump and other Republicans sound like to them? The illogical, confused meanderings of a mental disorder? There could be a hefty government grant to do that study!

  3. The repetitive Theresa Tam commercial on TV is starting to drive me batty. It is being broadcast so frequently, I might just rush out of the house and mingle with people, just to get away from it.

    1. 30 million dollars to have an Asian woman on TV telling us to wash our hands. Only in Canada.

        1. Exactly. If so, one that has no concept of femininity. Nice Adams Apple though.

“She” is an annoying, uncharismatic representative of the Liberals.

Bonnie Henry comes close as well, with her drab demeanour, and ADHD enunciation of all the little syllables in each word. There aren’t many people that talk like that, it sticks out, wondering what is with that person? Anal retentive? Perfectionist?

          1. Acting PM-in-waiting little C.F. speaks very s-l-o-w-l-y and
e-nun-cia-tes like that …….even Kindergartners would think: what the f…

    2. Better than the hearing sock monkey’s voice in the radio advertisements. But not by much.

      1. I’d sooner hear nails scraping across chalkboards than listen to those.

  4. Canadian oil is now worthless. But don’t worry, with the carbon tax going up 50% tomorrow, this will provide extra funding for oil workers to be trained in the exciting new field as security guards at homosexual parades.

    1. According to the Great Turd, the carbon tax actually puts more money into the pockets of Canadians. That is why his wife and kids relax at their cottage at a time when Canadians are urged not to travel to their cottages, for fear of infecting yet more people. Thank God she never tested positive for corona virus.

    2. With lower oil prices oil usage will go up, once the Wuhan virus is over.

Re Trudeau’ Carbon tax. Most people will still drive and heat their homes. When their “rebate” comes, many will use it for a vacation. Thus gasoline usage goes up.

      1. And a shout out to Ken for the kind words on Gormley yesterday (22:40 mark………

  5. No sirens in the air and no airliners in the sky because the sky is falling economically.
But a lot of construction I see going on isn’t for vital infrastructure or as described it should be by the government.
    Strange days.

  6. And now your morning news update. Blackie is wonderful. The Liberal Party is wonderful. The Unifor media is wonderful. Trump is twenty times worse than Hitler. Canadians are racist filthy animals.

    1. I have to say that the daily news seems to be very similar each day.

      It reminds me of something…………

      Oh yeah.

“War is peace / freedom is slavery [and] ignorance is strength.”

  7. National Post reports that Hitler Kenney has committed one billion dollars for the Keystone pipeline. Construction will start April 1st. Justin won’t be committing any money to the project. Comments from Toronto are full of outrage.

  8. Blackie The Gay Pirate continues to help out his Liberal friends during this crisis. Blackie’s Toronto Star reports that Ralph Goodale will be given a cushy job at taxpayer expense to investigate the Iran plane crash.

      1. Think of all that chapagne and caviar that nneds to be consumed during the proceedings. If Ralphie doesn’t do it, who will? Oh, the sacrifices that man makes for this ungrateful nation…..

  9. Thank you Kate for your blog and its perspective.
I come here first every day to see what is relevant in the news without the fake news filters.
    Keep up the fantastic work.

    1. QS….as do I.
The only place on the Web where sanity (UNthing notwithstanding), prevails..

    1. That was interesting. Thanks. There certainly is a worrisome story bubbling right underneath the surface. Time will tell if the draconian measures are used to destroy our way of life. He is right about one thing — all of those implemeting these Orwellian controls really don’t care anything about the old people who account for most of the deaths. (Britain is very bad, as is France, and I have just heard that Victor Orban has just been given dictatorial powers with no time limit and with only 15 deaths and 450 cases in Hungary.)

      1. It does appear as though the government of Canada is keen on reduction of the number of retirees in this country.
Of course they are not gonna say it out loud.
The death panels are at the ready. Hopefully its not going to get there.
As for Orban, be careful, he is a thorn in the EU side. Listen to him on youtube some and see what he tells the EU bureaucrats.
He does sound like any conservative right here.
He will be called all kinds of things since there are few of those that have the courage to either support of make it clear what he is saying and doing,
Right now its clear as mud.

  10. BREAKING NEWS!!!!! The Rt. Hon. Justin Trudeau has just announced that the Hon. Ralph Goodale will head up the federal committee investigating the Iranian air disaster. No mention of his pay at this patronage job.

    1. Typically those ‘investigations’ involve a day rate $2-3 or more thousands /day and an upper limit of a fixed amount 500k maybe more.
You are expected to do 2 things.

      1. Use up all the allocated money

      2. Write a report that nobody will read.

Thank you Ralph for all your good service to the LPC.. er – and canadians.

    2. And how will this investigation help Canadians? Liberals are out of control. Canadians are wimps and will suck it up.

  11. I mentioned this a short time ago but it seems that some people are starting to clue up.

    https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/bonokoski-under-trudeau-liberals-seniors-have-become-pandemics-irrelevant

The people that are going to take it in the neck over the short term are the people that have tried to provide over their working lives for their future. Government employees will continue to get their pension cheques no matter what but the lowly Canadian taxpayer that has striven to ensure that they would not be a drain on the country are going to get stuck with the upcoming bills to cover all of the bailouts. The Ponzi scheme that the governments have foisted on us will be broken and the savings that many have put away over a forty year career period will be left holding the dregs.

  12. WARNING:
This should be read by ADULTS only

Canada Has Abolished Civil Liberties in the Name of “Safety”

    https://mises.org/wire/canada-has-abolished-civil-liberties-name-safety

More to the point, there is no justification for any government policy which violates civil liberties. If the government has any role in the coronavirus crisis, it should be limited to the dissemination of information and advice—advice, not orders. Individuals should be free to consider this information and advice, as well as that provided by other sources. Naturally, each of us will assess the risk differently, just as we assess risk differently in other aspects of our lives. We must be free to make our own decisions based on our own personal circumstances.

Those who believe that there is a high risk of contracting the virus, and a high risk of severe symptoms or death, will rarely leave their homes and will likely wear gloves and a mask if they do venture out. Those who believe that these risks are low will stick to their normal daily routines. Still others will modify their behaviour to various degrees.

    1. Some years ago your agent wrote.
Government pays your doctor, government will tell you what to do.
You like it or not has no bearing on anything.

    2. There are three fundamental human rights; life liberty and property. If your right to liberty infringes on my right to life than your right to liberty may be curtailed.

Depriving someone of their liberty is correctable, depriving someone of their life is not.

  13. Sweden’s Approach To Coronavirus: Do Nothing

We who are adults need to be exactly that: adults. Not spread panic or rumors,” said Prime Minister Stefan Löfven in a televised address to the country last weekend.

“No one is alone in this crisis, but each person has a heavy responsibility.”

And while the country has limited gatherings to 50 people as of Sunday, the government is largely leaving decisions over self-isolation and social distancing up to the citizens. BBC notes that almost half of Stockholm residents are working remotely, and that traffic is quieter than usual. Stockholm’s public transport company SL reports 50% fewer riders on subway and commuter trains last week.

    1. Sweden should make for a EXCELLENT Petrie Dish…..Gonna Be interesting that’s fer sure.

      1. Thinking here, once they get over this, they will be better off.
The damn Wuhan virus will run out of steam at a normal pace, whatever that would be, perhaps with less casualties.

The thing is that here and just about everywhere else, its gonna be prolonged until the damn Wuhan virus runs its course.

        Just an observation.

  14. I refuse to listen to bongo.

My morning starts with 5 hours of xm radio (Canada Talks 167). Matt Gurney does an hour starting at 5am (MST). Anthony Furey does 2 hours of National Post Radio and then Arlene Bynon. Bynon cuts to the bongo live feed and that’s where I flip to Jazz fm.

  15. Ontario teachers are doing their part during this crisis. The Ontario Elementary Teachers have settled with the government. They will only receive a 1% wage increase, but they will get a 4% benefits increase every year. They will continue to fight the 1% in court, because they are doing it for the kids. Also they achieved more instructors to be hired to teach whiny indian issues. And of course they will get full pay while sitting on their asses during the virus situation. Ontario teachers, doing their part during the China virus crisis.

    1. https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/elementary-teachers-get-salary-benefits-boosts-in-tentative-contract-deal/ar-BB11Y5no?ocid=spartanntp

What a fucking joke. People have been de-employed, businesses shuttered and the government gives in to the greediest sacks of shit in the universe.
The provincial deficit might be 50 billion or more by the time this is done. Maybe even more. Think taxes aren’t going to skyrocket? Absolute madness. Every one of those bastard teachers should have taken a 10% pay cut.
Doug Ford and the Ontario Conservatives are traitorous scum.

  16. I’m not a fan of Government picking winners, but, if Moe and Kenney are going to shovel money out the door they should consider providing incentives to the private sector to set up health care supply chain businesses in the mid-west.

  17. Oh Nooo! The Toronto Pervert Parade has been cancelled. Blackie the Gay Pirate will be outraged. Our new transgender, black, muslim army must invade China for causing this. And stock up on ammo. Bill Blair is suggesting that low risk inmates should be released from prison. If they were low risk, they wouldn’t be in prison you moron.

  18. Heather Mallick at the Liberal Party’s Toronto Star explains how Trump is worse than a serial killing murderer, and the My Pillow owner is a crack head. But Blackie is wonderful.

    1. I am puzzled by those Canadians who choose to obsess about Trump at this time. The only explanation I have is thst it allows them to ignore the mess Liberals are making in their own country.

    1. The People of Britain will always be critical of Royalty especially when they marry a commoner. Example: Wallace Simpson ‘that American’ woman who stole their King.

I suspect Meghan has PPD. If she/they would’ve just taken her/their time, she and Harry could’ve worked things out. The ‘suits’, as Diana used to call them, at the Palace run things as per protocol for the sake of maintaining the royal lineage and the royal family, in general.

I predict that they’ll be back in England — the understanding Queen gave them one year to sort things out.

PPD should not be discounted, remember there’s been many mothers in history who’ve unfortunately, murdered their children. One that comes to mind is American Andrea Yates who drowned her five youngsters all under the age of 7 years old. The last one who drowned was the 7 year old who figured things out and tried to run away but perished anyway, sadly.

      https://www.healthline.com/health/depression/how-long-does-postpartum-depression-last

      1. Urbandictionary.com has several different meanings for PPD, all of which seem to suit her Meghanness:

        – post party depression
        – post Potter depression
        – profile picture disorder
        – etc.

        https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=PPD

The meanings get more interesting the further one reads in that entry.
