Agriculture and Agri-food Canada scientists have historically spent their time on things like improving yields, fighting crop diseases and increasing livestock feed efficiency — mostly agriculture production and risks to production.

Now, their top priorities should be sustainable agriculture and climate change, says the department’s Strategic Plan for Science, a document released last fall.[…]

A spokesperson for Canada’s agriculture minister Marie-Claude Bibeau said the change in the science strategy came from department leaders at AAFC, including Gilles Saindon, assistant deputy minister for the science and technology branch.

In an interview, Saindon said the shift in priorities was based on the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership, a five-year funding agreement between federal and provincial governments that came together last summer and takes effect April 1.

AAFC didn’t consult directly with farm groups or agriculture sector leaders before changing its scientific priorities.

There’s a reason for that.

  1. Kate, your “reason” comment was interesting, and dovetails nicely with the lockdown agenda where only the giant mega corporations were the only ones allowed to continue with business. Which, also dovetails nicely with the WEF agenda!
    It does appear that all western governments are onboard with the same WEF agenda. How on earth do we ever extricate ourselves from this mess, when they are ALL in on it?

    1. People need to start paying attention to these things. I’ve redoubled my efforts to stop purchasing made in China junk as much as possible, even if it costs me more, and I always try and support local farmers directly and avoid supporting big corporations when possible. Small, but it’s a start.

      1. Canadians are creatures of instant gratification so, no, your efforts are fairly singular (though laudable).

      2. The problem is most people are ignorant of what is going on in our world. They are busy with whatever is on their screen … be it mindless games or mindless social media or lies and deceit from Main Stream media.

        A few years from now …. I promise you that millions of people who have lost their freedoms and their way of life will say ”why didn’t anyone do anything to stop this”?

        The answer is … An ambivalent, distracted culture has no future. Trump is correct when he flogs the America First line. If you do not value your society, it will vanish.

      There is a remedy for that, Pb tipped penicillin.

  3. It is the Liberal Mafia strategy. “That is a nice farm you have there. It would be too bad if something happened to it but for an ongoing fee, we can insure that it will be business as usual”. It is not about environmentalism, it is not about virtue, it is not about fairness, it is about enslaving and controlling a population and controlling the food supply is just the first lever to control people. Wait until they bring in CBDC.

    I will ask again: What is the recommended political strategy to deal with moral corruption at this scale? You can’t solve moral problems with political solutions which is why liberals are all about banning guns and never deal with the real problem, bad people.

      1. However, If they do allow people to have food, I would be very curious to know what they are putting in that food.

        Perhaps vaccines that you would prefer not to have in your body?

        Or maybe they will simply harvest your organs before you starve to death.

        If you are a senior, be grateful to have lived through the greatest period in human history. All that freedom and prosperity … which, apparently is coming to and end very soon.

  5. It won’t be a big loss with the change at ag Canada. I used to work at a research facility in Canada. We have scientists that bring two cars to work park on in their spot then walk through the building to a second car waiting to take it home and get full pay to do nothing at work. We also had Chinese spies at one of our facilities.

    Ag Canada spends money like you wouldn’t believe. They built a new building rather than changing windows and destroying the old one building. All to be green.

    They also paid people to stay home with full pay doing nothing during Covid. Government in Canada is the most wasteful thing on earth

    He said farmland would soon be taken over by the Syndicates.

    2. The pension funds, other investor buyers are quite interested in ‘real’ estate such as farms. It was quite hilarious to see the CPP come to the conclusion that investing in farmland only makes economic sense if the focus is long term growth based on inflation. What any coffee shop clique could have told them.

    1. Eugene Whelan did go around speaking to farmers when he was first appointed Ag Minister. Then, he and Gorbachev toured the Heinz Leamington ON facility. He decided the Soviet model was the way to go. Luckily, the Lieberals lost the election and “Canagrex” went to the dustbin.

  11. I think one of the biggest problems that the WEF elites and the Chinese and Bill Gates etc etc. will have real challenge with is ….. What do do with 4 or 5 billion dead bodies.

    It’s very cool that they appear to have decided that the cleanest and least violent way to reduce the world’s population. They will kill us in waves, over time so as not to freak out the dull-witted population who will revert to tripling their mask wearing and calling for the deaths of those who are not vaccinated. When they are not too weak from lack of nutrition.

Here’s a tip: When you’re a blog or publication touting yourself as a voice for farmers and the Ag industry in general…don’t take fed money like your boss Glacier Media has done because it taints you and lumps you in with the rest of the media miscreants we have to deal with on a day to day basis. “Free money” is alluring I know, but it puts a mark on your back.
    And your love letter about electric John Deere tractors isn’t helping either. I can read between the lines with the best the of them, Skippy.

  15. How many of these useless “Partnerships” are out there? The government (being me and you) shouldn’t be funding any of this nonsense.
