Social media is on fire this evening with all sorts of commentary on the prospective trade deal between Canada & America. The massive change I simply cannot believe will happen is the end of supply-side management in Canada.
Carney staked his entire administration on elbows up against the US. Any kind of trade compromise with Trump won't sit well with his supporters who all have end stage TDS.
Carney will bring out buckets of bullshit to spin this and our media will be happy to carry them for him. https://t.co/mBI6alWigM

Please do share your predictions about what all is about to happen.
Update: Eric Daigneault shares his thoughts.

All their lies and false promises and hate mongering and elbows up bullshit is going to bite them in the ass.
Or will it?
Canadian urban liberals are dumb brutes eager to believe Liberal lies and narratives.
Never underestimate, etc.
The could have had a mutually beneficial deal a year and a half ago, without all the egg on their faces and all the pain of this.
Will this shitty deal be used by Liberals as fodder for the cattle to convince them to embrace communist China even more?
Remember Max Bernier? Of course you don’t. No-one remembers Max Bernier. That is why supply management is here to stay.
Just go tit for tat with Trump and negotiate with the Democrat president in 2 1/2 years. Nobody will be as loony as Trump.
scarp
You still 6 feet tall and blonde, or just plain stupid?
Trump announces he doesn’t want Canada as our 51state so he is selling our Northern Neighbor to Communist China for 20,000 tons of gold.
China claims it wants more Winter Olympic Gold Medals.
Trump announces he needs “Lebensraum” to send the 25 million illegal aliens allowed in by Biden. Each illegal will get $2,500 and a free trip to The New People’s Republic of Canada and China loves fellow Communists so Carney is named President for Life. It is believed that China will need cheap labor in Canada and that was the deal maker.
Danielle Smith has been allowed refugee status by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and has fled to Texas with her family and some friends and been offered a TV contract to star in a remake of Dallas.
Win – Win – Win all around.
Nothing will happen to the Liberals. If it turns out to be a fair deal then Carney is a hero. If it’s a bad deal, or perceived to be a bad deal, then it’s Trump’s fault. Carney will ride out his full term and leave the mess for someone else, probably the Conservatives, to clean up.
I generally respect Elliot Daigneault’s political insight. But the first half of the title of his latest video reads, “Carney Will NEVER Recover From This Embarrassment”. This would normally be 100% correct, but we’re not in normal times and 2026 Canadians are not normal either.
WIth much sadness, here are my predictions:
1. Carney will not suffer at all from this. He’ll likely be painted as the poor victim, bullied & blackmailed by the Bad Orange Man.
2. A new narrative is being crafted and will soon be sent out to the usual suspects. The bought-and-paid-for talking heads will snap into line and start working on reprogramming the “brains” of the Elbows Up NPCs. These sheeple will soon be singing a new tune, explaining that Carney did the best he could under the circumstances.
3. Somehow, they’ll find a way to blame Pierre Poilievre for everything.
For the record, if Canada’s ridiculous protection racket is eliminated, it will provide a dramatic boost to most Canadians.
I expect you’re right.
But it’s not a done deal yet.
3-days … tick tock … sayyyyyy where’s Chrystia Freeland?
“Poilievre criticized the government for “making so many concessions” before the deal was finalized, such as rescinding the Digital Services Tax, directing the CRTC to review and eliminate the Online Streaming Act, …”
This, from a “conservative”?
Incredible.
care to provide a citation?
If it was such a good deal, do you think the Liberal government would be shy about releasing the details? And second, when a government keeps secrets, it is not protecting you, it is protecting itself.
So the deal was crap.
What I think is a great deal for Canadians and what the Elbows Up Sheeple think is a good deal are two completely different things.
I strongly suspect the Average Lieberal voter:
– Does not believe in competition
– Does not believe in free trade
– Does not believe in working hard if more opportunity is provided
– Believes in higher taxes
– Believes in more government control of the economy
– Believes in silencing anyone they deem to be a deplorable
Chairman Carney and his politburo are quiet about this, because they know that their supporters will HATE it. That means it’s probably great for most Canadians.
Can’t stay away from this one.
Now, is the contest “What I actually think the deal is?” or “What I would like it to be?”
Disclosure, as many have already figured out, I am100% for independence. However, I do not wish ill will upon the majority of Canadians, even though they are an arrogant, misinformed lot. I hope that they are able to prosper. The caveat to this statement follows my prediction and hope:
My prediction;
1> 25% Tariff on lumber. 10% on steel and aluminum. 10% on vehicle. Canada must guarantee NO Chinese sources in the supply chains of these sectors.
2> Canada must restore 100% tariff on Chinese EVs
3> Canada will proceed with F35 purchase. No SAAB Gripen (very capable aircraft…40 years ago)
4> Canada will participate in Golden Dome
5> US Liquor will be restored to Canadian shelves
6> Canada will provide first right to US on critical minerals
7> Canada will allow increased energy (oil and gas) exports
8> Finally, and here is the kicker, Canada will allow tariff free access to previously prohibited (supply managed) agricultural sectors AFTER a quota is reached. There will NOT be unfettered access
What I wish would be in the agreement:
On point 1, Zero tariffs but the guarantee as to no Chinese sources
Point 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 as is
7> Canada will, in no way shape or form, hinder the development of energy (oil and gas) exports to the United States including, but not limited to production quotas, emission targets or any kind of punitive carbon tax or any kind of f#$%!#g native hindrance.
8> The Complete end of Supply Management with adequate compensation for quota holders to adapt to the new reality and the destruction of their private property rights by government.
9> Approve my kid’s Green card application already!
I truly hope that supply management goes. The political clout the dairy mafia wields will be directed towards separatism in Quebec and they can (I truly pray) succeed in their independence efforts and f$%K right off
Superb analysis! Let’s see how correct you are.
Carney’s biggest PR problem is that he is going to want to loudly claim victory over Trump.
And that will be the fastest way to trigger Trump’s next anti-Carney move.
So Carney needs to thread this needle very carefully. I’ll guess he’ll have few detail-heavy press conferences.
I look forward to buying cheaper butter, that is soft and oily at room temperature, that is unadulterated by unnatural Palm Oil.
Buying mozzarella that isn’t outrageously priced.
Cheaper creamo and whipping cream.
Too bad Qbec dairy farmers, too fckin bad!
There’s a lot of guesses out there today… and I have no idea who’s right
Chris in the Bridge has some good ideas above… I’d say the SAAB Gripen (with the new RR engines) is better than “40 years ago” but it’s a small point.
Looking forward to sending +800k barrels of oil south through the XL Pipeline, it’d be good to send some to the BC coast as well, other buyers like Japan could use some too.
and lets keep in mind that dairy isn’t the only supply mgmt fiasco in Canada.
You’re right, “40 years ago” was a [slight] exaggeration. New engines and new avionics but still a 40 year old platform
Poultry and egg supply management can go away as well. The big difference is that dairy is primarily Quebec centric and has played far too large a role in how fourth rate soviet canuckistan has been driven into the ground.
